Exodus 20:7 (NKJV) 7 \u201cYou shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

God’s name. It is a name to be revered and lifted up. And yet we hear people, including believers, followers of Christ, using it on a daily basis as a curse word.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

God’s name, and the name of Jesus Christ, have become more commonly used as cuss words than as names that bring awe and reverence when spoken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What’s even more sad is that millions of believers fall into this same habit on a daily basis. They take the name that has given them new life and fresh hope, and they bring shame upon it by blurting it out in anger, in a derogatory way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The verse above says that those who do this will not be held guiltless. We are responsible for this and will be held accountable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We want to appeal to you today to consider this habit, and to ask God for forgiveness. And ask Him to remind you when you’re about to blurt it out. That you would stop before it leaves your mouth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And then we need to ask God to cleanse our hearts, that the tendency and the desire to do this would be removed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The name of God, and the name of Jesus Christ are holy and pure. There is no darkness in them. Ever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So, let’s not bring shame to Him by using these names in such terrible ways.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

God, we love you. And we ask you to forgive us for the shame we have brought upon your name. Deliver us from this terrible habit. Amen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
