John 16:33 (NKJV) 33\u00a0These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

These are very powerful words.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Jesus spoke of the fact that in the world, we will have tribulation. But, He told us to be of good cheer. He also promised that in Him, we would have peace.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

How? How can we have peace in the midst of tribulation? How can we be of good cheer while being tossed about by a storm?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

By way of the fact that He has overcome the world. That’s how!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The world, as Jesus spoke of it, doesn’t just refer to the people of the world… the unbelievers or those who\u00a0do\u00a0evil. But He referred more to the world as a whole. The ways of the world, the evil in the world, the storms of life and the things we face each and every day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

These things can and will wear us down if we let them. They will suck the life out of us if we try to face them on our own, by our own power, strength and understanding.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Instead, Jesus reassured us that He has already overcome the world. And because of this, if our faith and trust are in Him, then we can also overcome the world, and all of the things\u00a0in\u00a0it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He didn’t promise that it would be easy. He didn’t promise that it would happen instantly. He didn’t promise that we would be able to understand it all. He simply promised\u00a0that,\u00a0because He overcame the world, we could have peace and joy because of His victory. And because\u00a0He\u00a0overcame the world, we can also be overcomers in Christ.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, as we feel the weight of the cares of this world on our shoulders, we need\u00a0to pull our strength from Him,\u00a0and\u00a0stand\u00a0up. And as we stand up, we\u00a0need to speak to our storm and say “Peace, be still”!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Mark 4:39 (NKJV) 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, \u201cPeace, be still<\/span>!\u201d And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
