Ephesians 5:30-33 (NKJV) 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 \u201cFor this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.\u201d 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As members of His body, we\u00a0are one with Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Just as we are one with Him, we are told that a man will leave his mother and father and become one with his bride. The two\u00a0shall become one flesh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

To the human mind, two people becoming one flesh\u00a0is very mysterious and hard to understand. But when we begin to look at it through spiritual eyes, and through God’s word, we can see that the relationship between a\u00a0husband\u00a0and his wife is symbolic of the relationship between Christ and His bride.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As we draw near to God and learn of Him, we begin to become one with Him on many levels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As a husband and wife come together, both in physical intimacy and in every other aspect of their lives, they also become one on many levels. With couples who have been together for a very long time, it’s usually very easy to see how united\u00a0they are as we watch them interact with each other.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It’s truly a miracle and a mystery of God to see,\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0to live out.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We can personally attest to this in our own marriage. God has truly brought us together and shown us how to become “one flesh” in every area of our relationship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He has blessed us with a bond that can only be explained by the phrase “one flesh”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We recently celebrated our 35th\u00a0wedding anniversary,\u00a0on March 12.\u00a0It was a huge milestone for us, not just in our marriage, but in our lives in general, as He has walked us through so much.\u00a0We were very excited about it!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And despite some of the things we have faced over the years, it was our unity through\u00a0the bonds\u00a0that God created\u00a0that kept us moving forward without so much as a small hiccup in our marriage. And for that, we give God all of the glory and honor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It’s very fitting that the first verse of Ephesians chapter 5 starts off by telling us to be imitators of God, and the last verse gives us instructions telling husbands and wives to love and respect each other.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And as we become imitators of God, everything about our marriage relationship\u00a0will become stronger, and our love and respect for each other will grow in ways we could never have imagined. Amen<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
