Bible Verse of The Day – 5-18-13

(1 John 5:5 NKJV)  Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

If we want to overcome this world and the troubles that it offers, if we want to make the right choices and walk in victory, joy, and love then we must believe in the Son of God.

We can try to overcome the problems and difficulties of this world with our own understanding, on our own strength, and with the sources that we have, but it will wear us down, beat us up and take every last bit of joy out of us.

It is the JOY of the Lord that gives us strength! We need strength to face each day and we need Jesus to help us overcome!

We love you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-13

(Luke 6:47-48 NKJV)  “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: {48} “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock”.

What are we building on? What is our foundation?

If we have been building our foundation on anything other than Jesus Christ, the solid rock, we need to make some changes.

Jesus is the rock upon which we need to stand. If we are placing our hope and trust in anything or anyone else, our foundations will soon crumble.

Jesus gives us hope when everything looks hopeless. He gives us strength when we are weak. He gives us peace when it feels like the world is crashing down around us.

Again, what foundation are you building on? Make sure you’re building on The Rock… Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-16-13

(1 John 5:12 NKJV)  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Do we ever wonder why, when we are around other believers or Christians, we have a good time and sometimes we don’t want our time with them to end?

Well, it is mainly because they are full of God… they have life in them. They have peace, love and JOY running through their blood. This is the gift of being in Christ!

We need to pay attention to who we get involved with. If they belong to God we will know and let me tell you that if they are not, we will know. Spending too much time with people that are not God’s children will bring us down…no matter how we look at it. There is no life in them and they will bring death to those around them.

This doesn’t mean we don’t reach out to those that don’t know God, but we must let the Holy Spirit guide us in doing so. We can not do this on our own.

Reaching out is different then HANGING out. Let us not kid ourselves today in saying, “we are just trying to help them. They need me.”

If we are being pulled into their arena, we are not helping them. They are hurting us and our relationship with Christ.

Be blessed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-13

(John 3:30 NKJV)  “He must increase, but I must decrease.

This single verse is the key to a thriving relationship with our Creator.

We can’t have a strong relationship with God until we learn to put Him first! It isn’t necessarily an easy thing to do, especially at first, but it’s something that we have to learn how to do and then walk it out.

Once we get understanding of this concept and begin putting it into practice, it will begin to come more naturally to us and before we know it, we will put God before everything else in our life.

We will wake in the morning and the first thing we will do is wonder what God will do in our lives today. We will spend our waking hours with God at the forefront of our minds, instead of somewhere there in the background.

Instead of always wondering what God is going to do for us, we will start to ask Him what we can do for Him! And as we grow in Him, we will learn to listen for the answers from Him.

Our lives will truly begin to be transformed as we start to put Him first and ourselves after Him.

Many of our struggles with sin will disappear when we put Him first. Many of our struggles with a bad attitude will disappear when we put Him first. Our struggles with unforgiveness and bitterness will disappear when we put him first. And the list goes on!

So start learning to let Him increase so you can decrease and watch how He transforms your life for the better.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-13

(John 14:26 NKJV)  “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We need to remember that we are not alone. If there is a decision we need to make today, we don’t need to try to figure it all out on our own. We don’t need to take steps on our own. We have Someone to help us…Our Helper, the Holy Spirit.

All we have to do is ask Him. Let’s take time today and let the Holy Spirit guide us. He helps us make the right decisions in all we do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-13

(John 3:36 NKJV)  “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

So many times, people ask if there is more than one way to heaven or more than one way to eternal life.

Some people will try to water down the gospel and make it pleasing to man, not wanting to offend anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings. This is a disservice to the people who want to know the truth and it is a slap in the face of Jesus, who suffered and died the cruelest of deaths for every single human being on the face of the earth.

The truth is plain and simple; Jesus is the one way to eternal life. He is the one way to the Father. He is The Way.

(John 14:6 NKJV)  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

So if anyone ever asks a question about how to get to heaven, or how to have eternal life, or if we believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father, we should be sure to answer them very boldly and without shame or hesitation, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

There is only one way. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-13

(Proverbs 13:4 NKJV)  The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Many, many people desire to be more than they are or to have more than they have. It’s just a natural tendency for a lot of people.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be more or have more if it doesn’t become our idol and come between us and God. God always has to be first in everything. No exceptions.

But if we have our relationship with God in order and we want to excel in other areas of our lives, we can do it, but there is a key ingredient that so many teachers leave out. It’s a four letter word that many people don’t want to hear when it comes to getting ahead.

WORK. That’s right… good, old-fashioned, hard work is what it takes to excel and move up.

Sadly, the church has fallen prey to false personal prophecies or false teachings that tell us that God is going to come along like a genie in a bottle and drop great wealth into our laps, or give us perfect relationships or whatever else we desire. This is nonsense and most of it doesn’t begin to line up with the Word of God.

God does indeed want to bless us and prosper us. But He teaches us that we need to be diligent… not slothful, gluttonous or lazy.

When we learn this and begin to put it into practice we will start to see the blessings of God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-13

(John 14:14 NKJV)  “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

We have a sump pump in our basement. The pump has been kicking on every few minutes to pump out the water for the past several weeks.

The power went out at our house the other day, which meant that the pump stopped working. I panicked!

My husband wasn’t home at the time and I did not know how to use the generator. I never had to hook it up before. I called my husband and he raced home. He was rushing around to get the generator set up so we could get the pump turned back on. Well, just as he pulls the chord to start it, it breaks.

Here we sit now, not knowing what to do; we don’t want our basement to get water in it. I turned to God and I said, “Lord, we need you to turn this electricity back on immediately. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen”.

Within seconds after that prayer, the power kicked back on! I said to myself,  “it was that simple”. We didn’t get any water in the basement and I truly was blessed to know that God moved so quickly and that was all we had to do was ask.

Sometimes we just need to ask.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-9-13

(Hebrews 2:9 NKJV)  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

For many years I wondered about this verse and what was meant by the statement that Jesus “was made a little lower than the angels”.

Not only did I wonder about it, but it kind of bothered me because it didn’t seem to fit in with the fact that Jesus was there in the beginning and was the co-creator of the heavens, the earth and everything on the earth, including humans.

The way I saw this verse, it made it seem like Jesus was below the angels, which are simply created beings, used by God for service. Where was the deity of Christ in this verse?

I pondered on this for quite some time, wondering what it was really saying. And then one day it was like God removed the veil for me and showed me exactly what it meant. So I want to share that with you today.

God showed me that Jesus was, in fact, there in the beginning. He was the co-creator of all we see, including us. Remember that the Word says in Genesis “let us make man in our image”. This is clearly a plural statement, using “us” instead of me or my.

And the reason that Jesus was said to have been a little lower than the angels is because he chose to become lower than the angels, in human form, for a specific period of time while He walked here on the earth. He became flesh and bone so He could walk among us, experience everything that we feel and, ultimately, die for us.

This is truth. This is fact. This is the God we serve. He leaves nothing undone.

He is the Alpha, the Omega… the beginning and the end. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-8-13

(1 John 5:20 NKJV)  And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

Eternal life comes from Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is that simple.

There is nothing else that can give us eternal life. There is no other way but through Jesus Christ, God’s Son. We don’t want to miss this important truth.

There are many other teachings out there that can cause confusion, but we need to get the understanding that has been given to us.

If you have been taught differently about Heaven or life after death, it needs to be compared to the Word of God to make sure it lines up with what God says is the truth. It is the truth that sets us free.

If you have never received Christ as your Lord and personal Savior, we will pray with you today a prayer of Salvation and you will have eternal life. Christ will live in you and give you understanding that you may learn Him and His way for your life.

Dear God in Heaven,

I come to You today at this time in my life and cry out, asking for Your forgiveness from my sinful life. I ask Jesus to come into my heart and be my Savior and help me live the life You have called me to live each day.

I ask You for Your strength, understanding and wisdom today to make the right decision. Thank you!

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

If you have received Christ as your personal Savior today, please write and let us know. We want to be praying for you and we are here if you have any questions or need help in any way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-7-13

(Luke 12:23 NKJV)  “Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

If only we could all “get this”, how different would our lives be?

Would we spend less time chasing wealth and status and more time asking God what He wants for us?

Don’t get me wrong. This is not an “anti-wealth” or “anti-prosperity” message. I believe God can and does bless many of His children with material wealth and resources.

But how many of us spend way too many years of our lives chasing after things and trying to impress those around us, instead of seeking His kingdom first?

My prayer today is that each and every one of us will ask these questions of ourselves and seek honest answers from God himself. After all, it’s His opinion that counts!

(Matthew 6:33 NKJV)  “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
