Bible Verse of The Day – 7-19-14

Proverbs 23:4-5 (NKJV)4 Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! 5 Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

Wealth. It’s something that so many of us chase after, but so few attain.

What’s even worse, many of the people who become rich end up losing it all after a period of time. And then they have to start all over again.

God is not against us being rich or wealthy with material means. In fact, poverty is a trap in and of itself that can be used by the enemy to bring us down to new levels of low.

But what God doesn’t want is for us to spend our lives chasing after wealth and missing out on what He really wants us to be doing.

So stop and check yourself today. Are all those hours we’re working really necessary to support ourselves and our family, or are they simply our own way of chasing after things that we don’t really need and can’t really afford?

Hmm. Let’s think about that one and be really honest with ourselves.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-13

Proverbs 15:16 (NKJV) Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, Than great treasure with trouble.

Many people spend years of their lives chasing wealth. Sadly, a large percentage of those people never find it. When this happens, it can make some people quite miserable.

For other people, they choose to be content with what they have and not constantly longing after what they don’t have. These people are usually quite happy.

There is nothing wrong with wealth, but making the pursuit of it your primary focus can cause you to become unhappy and discontent.

Many times, people with great wealth also have great trouble. There’s just something about having a lot of money that seems to invite it, especially when people don’t understand how to handle that money.

So if you haven’t been blessed with abundant finances, don’t fall for the temptation to make gaining great wealth your primary focus in life.

We need to learn to be content with what we have before we pursue anything more. Once we learn to be content, then we are on our way to being ready for more.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-13

(Proverbs 13:4 NKJV)  The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Many, many people desire to be more than they are or to have more than they have. It’s just a natural tendency for a lot of people.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be more or have more if it doesn’t become our idol and come between us and God. God always has to be first in everything. No exceptions.

But if we have our relationship with God in order and we want to excel in other areas of our lives, we can do it, but there is a key ingredient that so many teachers leave out. It’s a four letter word that many people don’t want to hear when it comes to getting ahead.

WORK. That’s right… good, old-fashioned, hard work is what it takes to excel and move up.

Sadly, the church has fallen prey to false personal prophecies or false teachings that tell us that God is going to come along like a genie in a bottle and drop great wealth into our laps, or give us perfect relationships or whatever else we desire. This is nonsense and most of it doesn’t begin to line up with the Word of God.

God does indeed want to bless us and prosper us. But He teaches us that we need to be diligent… not slothful, gluttonous or lazy.

When we learn this and begin to put it into practice we will start to see the blessings of God!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-10-12

(Prov 12:11 NKJV)  He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.

Have you ever wondered how some people can fall so easily for scams that offer quick riches and a life of leisure, without having to do any work?

Most times, these people are frivolous with their money and are looking for a quick easy way to get rich. The sad part is that they don’t want to have to work for what they get.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having wealth, but God’s word teaches us over and over again that we are to work for what we have, not gain it by ill means.

If we “till our land”… work hard, diligently, and follow God’s leading, He will lead us to success and we will reap the fruits of our labors.

The world is full of scams promising quick riches. Heed God’s word and pay attention to what He teaches, and you’ll never be a victim.
