Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-26

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Our mind is the hardest thing to control; it wants to be free to do whatever it pleases. And believe me, it can be strong when it is pushing for what it wants.

Keeping our mind stayed means we are keeping it fixed on, supported by, anchored in, or continuously focused on God. This takes work and great effort on our part.

We may say within our heart that we want to serve and obey God, and really mean it. But if we don’t force our mind to submit and follow suit, will it do that? No. It will do what it thinks is right for that moment versus listening to what God is saying to our hearts.

We must choose to make our minds follow God. We have full control over keeping our minds stayed on Him!

Even when our mind is pushing us to go in the opposite direction of what our heart knows to do, it is up to us to make it obey.

Do we want perfect peace in our life today? Where is our mind right now? Is it following God and trusting in Him, or is it doing its own thing?

We have the control in our hands. Let’s make it happen.

Keep it stayed on Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-4-26

Matthew 11:7 (NLT) 7 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began talking about him to the crowds. “What kind of man did you go into the wilderness to see? Was he a weak reed, swayed by every breath of wind?

When Jesus speaks, He does so with purpose; intentional words spoken with absolute authority.

And in this verse, He said something that carries a lot of weight.

He questioned the people about what kind of man they thought John the Baptist was.

He was not asking for their opinion as much as He was reassuring them of John’s character and his unwillingness to compromise his faith for the sake of avoiding discomfort or persecution.

John knew that the words he spoke would bring fire and accusations against him.

He did not speak in such a way for the sake of drawing the ire of those who were the subject of his fiery words.

He called out sin when he saw it, regardless of who it might have been committing those sins.

So, in answer to the question Jesus asked of the people, no, John was not a weak reed bending in the wind.

He was a rock, standing firm on God’s truth, and not afraid to defend his faith and the truth that his faith was built on.

And that begs the question; are we a weak reed easily bent by the wind, afraid of standing for truth, and willing to compromise to avoid discomfort and fiery darts from the enemy?

If we struggle with this, we need to remember what Jesus taught.

Luke 9:23 (LSB) 23 And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

Is it always easy to live this way?

No. It is not. But it is what He requires of us if we wish to be faithful followers.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-3-26

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Paul was in prison as he wrote these words to Timothy. He was encouraging Timothy to press on, keep giving it his all, and to not get discouraged.

We must apply these words to our lives as well.

This doesn’t mean we will never be afraid when we face difficult situations or get knocked back from the impact of them.

We may struggle in our insecurities at times. We are only human. The enemy knows it, and he will use it to try and stop us.

But we are not fighting this good fight on our own.

God has blessed us with His help; that is, with His power.

We have His deep love and a sound mind to get through everything we must face as a follower of Christ.

We are not alone, and we are capable of doing more than we know as He equips us for this journey!

Lift up our eyes to the heavens today and know where are strength and stability come from; our Lord God! Trust in Him to move through us and overcome our fears.

Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV) 1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-2-26

Matthew 6:24 (LSB) 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

There is much in this verse for us all to learn, especially if we look at it with a wide lens, so we can see it in a broader sense than just relating to money or wealth.

While Jesus was speaking here specifically about money and wealth, if we pull back, we can see the opportunity to look also at other things.

Consider that He stated we cannot serve two masters. Serve, in this verse, also refers to being a slave to something.

We cannot be a slave to God and to something else.

If we were to replace money with various sins, this may suddenly become more relatable to us.

Drunkenness. Thievery. Sexual immorality. Lying. And the list can go on.

These represent some of the things we can become a slave to, allowing them to become our master.

Jesus said we cannot serve two masters. We must hate one and love the other.

So, if we take what Jesus has said, and we use this context to examine whatever it is that we may be a slave to at this very moment, it makes it plain and clear as to what we must do.

We must remove what has taken God’s place in our hearts. We must learn to hate whatever it is.

And we must love God more than that thing we have become enslaved to.

It is only when we hate the sin that we will make a sincere effort to separate ourselves from it.

And it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we will be able to do so.

Remember, flesh cannot overcome flesh. It requires the Spirit of God to break the chains that are holding us, and until we allow God’s Spirit in, the flesh will continue to win the battle. And we will remain a slave.

Let Him in. And win the battle once and for all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-26

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Every now and then we need to evaluate our schedule, making sure that we are not overbooked and setting dates and goals that are unrealistic.

It’s over-scheduling that keeps us worrying in our heads all day long. Will we meet our goals? Will we make that appointment on time?

It causes chaos, and a buzz within our minds. When setting our schedule, be sure it is balanced.

This is a gentle reminder; our health is important to God and to those who love and need us.

We need to schedule our days conservatively.

We can’t be trying to do 48 hrs. of work in a 24 hour day.

Tomorrow’s issues will be there for tomorrow to deal with. Take today, and focus on just this day.

We must leave room for us to sit and have a cup of tea, or our favorite latte, and maybe read a few passages from God’s word and actually be able to reflect on them.

We should have some time to take a breath, shut down our busy minds, and not feel guilty.

It is needed for us to stay balanced and strong in our daily walk.

Life is precious and short. It’s OK to give yourself some quiet moments!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-30-26

Psalm 37:4-5 (LSB) 4 Delight yourself in Yahweh; And He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to Yahweh, Trust in Him, and He will do it.

Psalm 37:4 is a verse we hear quoted frequently.

It gives hope and encouragement!

Some might even say that this verse promises us that God will give us the desires of our heart.

And, again, He will. But only if we learn and follow what the rest of these verses say!

What do I mean by this?

Let’s look more closely so we can be sure to get all we can from this and be sure to walk in the truth of God’s word, not assumptions or half-truths.

The second half of verse 4 does indeed tell us that He will give us the desires of our heart.

But what does the first half say?

Delight yourself in Yahweh!

So, that promise of God giving us the desires of our heart is conditional.

And verse 5 gives the “recipe for success.”

What does it say?

Commit your way to Yahweh, and trust in Him!

And what will be the result of this?

He will do it.

So, you see, God does want to give us the desires of our heart. But our heart must be willing to obey as we commit our way to Him, delight ourselves in Him, and trust in Him.

And that, my friends, is the truth of God’s word taken in its proper context, and in its entirety, with no sugar added.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-29-26

Proverbs 16:20 (NKJV) 20 He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.

In order to hear the word of God we must be in His word, reading.

Not only do we have to be reading, we have to heed what it says.

What does heeding mean?

To heed means to pay close attention to, listen to, or take notice of something—especially advice, a warning, a request, or a command—and often to act upon it.

This is so important today. Make time for reading.

We don’t have to read a lot. But we do have to get it in us regularly.

It is our fuel, our food, our sustenance. It is what quenches our thirst. It is what brings correction in our walk, and where the building of our faith comes from as we heed wisely.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Are you weak in faith today? Read, read, and read some more. Your faith will grow!

You will trust the Lord in areas you never thought you would, and you will be happy!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-28-26

Matthew 2:1-2 (LSB) 1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, 2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

Have we ever pondered the awe and power of the statement made in these 2 verses?

Magi, a class of wise men specializing in astronomy, astrology, and natural science, tracked an unusual star, an astronomical event, and followed it to Bethlehem so they could worship and pay homage to Christ, the newborn King.

We all hear the story of Jesus being born repeatedly. But do we ever allow the enormity of some of these corresponding events to really sink in?

These men were not local to Judea. They came from very far away, likely taking weeks or months to travel and find this baby they were looking for.

And they were led there by a star!

As they arrived in Judea, they sought King Herod for the purpose of gathering more information on this child they wanted to worship.

As they spoke with the king, they came to understand that Herod wanted to also “worship” Jesus.

And not long after they had located Jesus, fallen prostrate before Him and bestowed gifts upon Him, they were warned in a dream not to disclose His location, and not to return home the same way they had come due to Herod’s plot to kill Him.

These comparably “minor” incidents are incredibly powerful. But they seem to be overlooked at times as we are in awe of the birth of Christ.

God’s word is full of these kinds of incredible “smaller miracles”. And if we take the time, we will discover more of them than we realize existed.

And by digging deeper into them, our faith will grow and flourish as we witness the hand of God playing out in these events.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-27-26

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

When we become God’s child through faith in Christ, repenting of our sins, and surrendering our heart to Him, we have the Spirit of Christ in us!

And the result of this is that we will have His love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in us.

We may not feel these characteristics in us at times.

Sometimes we’re not joyful, and we don’t feel at peace. It may be hard at times for us to be kind. We may fail at having self-control.

The fruit of the Spirit is within us, but it doesn’t mean we will always be perfect at walking in Him.

It requires discipline. It requires focus.

it takes us surrendering our will and fleshly desires to the Holy Spirit and letting Him have control over our actions, our words, our emotions, and our thoughts!

When we let the flesh lead vs. letting His Spirit lead, we cannot please God.

Romans 8:8-9 (NKJV) 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

Let His Spirit lead us in all things today!

Galatians 5:25 (NKJV) 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-26-26

Hebrews 9:11-12 (LSB) 11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, 12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy places once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

As I was writing some new song lyrics recently, these lines came to me by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit:

“The blood of Jesus
It had more power
Than I could comprehend

There was no sin
It couldn’t conquer
No veil it couldn’t rend”

This is a truth that we have taught about many times; no sin or bondage is too big or too powerful for Jesus to set us free from.

But when I was singing these lyrics in my head earlier today, the POWER of this hit me in a way that told me I also need to write about it here.

Jesus Himself stated plainly.

John 8:36 (LSB) 36 So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

As written in Hebrews 9:11-12. Above, Christ entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands or of this (earthly) creation, and not by the blood of goats or bulls, but by His own blood.

He entered the holy places once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

His blood has more power than we can comprehend.

We MUST understand this truth.

Lacking understanding in this will cause us to remain a slave to things that we have no obligation to stay under.

But knowing this truth will free us from incredibly powerful strongholds in our lives, once and for all.

No longer will we live in fear of the sin that ensnares us.

Instead, we will walk in the freedom that Jesus promised us, and that He died to pay for.
