Bible Verse of The Day – 6-29-13

Job 1:1 (NKJV) There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

Job loved God. His ways were blameless.

In spite of this, Job went through some terrible trials. He literally lost everything he had including his family and all of his possessions, in less than 24 hours.

What’s truly remarkable about this is that when Job received word that he had lost absolutely everything he held dear, he didn’t pot, throw a tantrum or have a pity party. Job 1:21 (NKJV) And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Obviously, Job was sad and probably even distraught, but he refused to wallow in pity or ask God “why me?”.

So our question for everyone today is this: How would we handle something like this? Would we “lose it” and shake our fist at God, or would we trust God despite what we saw in front of us?

This is something that we will probably never know for sure until we’re in a seemingly-desperate situation. Only then will we truly be tested and see “what we’re made of”.

If we read the rest of the book of Job, we’ll see that Job went through even further trials as he was afflicted with great physical pain and suffering. Even so, Job stood fast in his faith and refused to curse God.

So how did this all turn out for Job? Ultimately, his body was healed and everything he had lost was restored to him and more. In fact, he was blessed with more than double what he originally lost, including sons and daughters.

So we ask again; “how would we handle ourselves in this kind of a situation?”. Food for thought…

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-13

(Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV)  “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Our Identity is important to God. This verse confirms to me that He knew Jeremiah before he was even born. He made Jeremiah the person that he was to be while he was still in the womb. Praise be to God! He loved Jeremiah the way He formed him in the womb.

Each person is their own individual. There are NO two people alike on this earth.

This doesn’t mean, though, that we shouldn’t change some things about ourselves, because when God’s word is working in us, we will change!

Each one of us has unique talents, gifts, and traits about ourselves that no one else has. This is a good thing and it makes life exciting!

When we are being taught by someone, for example, a Minister, Pastor, Priest, Teacher, etc. we take what we learn and apply the teachings to ourselves, individually. It adds to our person. But that doesn’t mean we have to be like that person who is teaching us, or do things the way that person does them.

We allow God to fix us, clean us out, and tweak us through His word, while still holding on to the person that we are, our identity, that thing that makes us unique.

We cannot throw out our identity to become someone else. We have to be the person God made us to be today and be thankful!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-13

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride. We all wrestle with it at one time or another in our lives, in many different ways.

For some of us it might be worrying about our appearance. This might mean our physical appearance with regard to how our hair looks or how our clothes look, or even how our body looks.

For others it might be regarding how they appear to others in society… do they appear to be well off financially, or do they have certain things to give them social status, such a s a nice car, nice house, etc.

These are usually the most obvious things that are more outwardly visible. But the very worst kind of pride is the kind that hides itself deep inside of a person, where nobody can really see it. It sneaks up on a person and takes hold of them from the inside, out.

After a while, that pride swells into haughtiness and arrogance. When this happens, a fall of some kind is sure to happen. As a child of God, pride cannot be left to live in us or rule over us. God won’t leave it unchecked in us for too long before He starts to tear it down,

God wants us to be humble. Humility is a godly trait. His word is full of examples of humble people being used and haughty people being taken out of their positions or caused to become humble through their circumstances.

James 4:6 (NKJV) But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

We want to encourage you to check your heart today. Let God shine his light into the very deepest recesses of your heart and show you what’s there. Is pride of any kind lurking there, waiting to eat you up and cause you to fall?

Let God root it out and set your feet on solid ground so that you will stand and not fall.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-13

(Psalm 133:1 NKJV)  Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!

If we believe in God’s Son and He lives in us, we are God’s children. We are a family; our bothers and sisters are all those who are His.

I remember at times growing up, when my family was together on things, how nicely things flowed in our home. But, if one of us got off track or did things that were against the rules of our home, it could stir up some uncomfortable situations and make things unpleasant.

Just as it is with God’s family. We have many denominations and at times it gets messy and uncomfortable. If we could all learn how to come together like family should do, we could be so much more effective on this earth.

I remember I was on vacation recently sitting in a hot tub outdoors. There were two Christian ladies in there with me. We started talking about church, and one thing led to the next. They were their for a convention and I was there for another convention.

I mentioned to them about how it would be nice if we could all come together and have one big convention.  One of them chuckled, and said to me, “When we all get on the other side”. I said, “yes it will be that way, no doubt, when we get to Heaven because there will be no choice.  But wouldn’t it be nice if we could make the choice to do it here first, wouldn’t Papa love that?” One of them looked at me like I had 3 heads and the other agreed.

We may have a different name or denomination and different views on things, but we are family, God’s children. We have been saved by His Son. Who are we to give ourselves names and think we can pick and choose who to help and who not to help or be involved with?

We should all be able to work together, we are the children of the most HIGH, and with Him all things are Possible. Let us put our agendas and our ideas aside for once and let God help us to come together and be effective in this earth.

We get one chance at this. Let us work hard and do it God’s way, TOGETHER!!

Love you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-13

1 Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand on the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

So often we want to hear God’s voice. We wait and we listen. Or at least we think we listen.

But as many times as we want to hear God, how many times are we actually listening for the true voice of God and not what we think is God’s voice?

Probably every single one of us has wished at one time or another that God would speak to us in a booming voice, loud and clear, with instructions for our situation, or an answer to a question that we have. If only it was that easy!

But God wants us to learn to hear Him. He wants us to sharpen our discernment and train our ears to hear His voice.

It takes discipline and work to develop “ears to hear”, but the return is worth the effort.

And don’t make the mistake of thinking that anyone anywhere “has it all figured out”. Nobody does. Even mature believers with great spiritual ears still “miss it” once in a while.

But remember that God is a “rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”, so don’t give up.

Keep pressing in and learning to hear Him. He’s speaking gently.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-24-13

(Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV)  Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, {2} looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We are all running in a race! This is not a race with temporal results or implications. It is a race with eternal consequences!

Each and every one of us must run this race to the best of our ability, trained and nurtured by God, through the Holy Spirit.

God urges us to run our race with “endurance”.

Endurance doesn’t come easily. It takes lots and lots of training and hard work, and it usually comes with a fair amount of fighting and resistance.

Building endurance requires a lot of discipline. Discipline is something that not too many of us like, whether it’s self-discipline or discipline applied by someone who is over us or in charge of us.

It’s so very important that we remember that the race we’re running isn’t just some earthly sporting event with a bunch of fans cheering for their favorite runner. This race involves our eternal soul, and we have God cheering us on from His heavenly throne!

If you’re tired today, lift your eyes to heaven and draw strength from God, our creator and the supplier of our needs.

When we cross the finish line, He will be there waiting for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-22-13

(Proverbs 6:16-19 NKJV)  These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: {17} A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, {18} A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, {19} A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

Today we’re going to take a look today at verse 19 and, specifically, the last part of the sentence about discord.

What is discord – a lack of agreement or harmony (as between persons, things, or ideas).

Looking back at my life, one of the things I was very uncomfortable with was proving people wrong or having to tell them that I disagree with them.

There were times I knew they were wrong, but I hated the thought of having to be the one to tell them. I’d rather just let them think they’re right and pray that down the road they will realize it. Now, this can be good in some situations, but it can also be bad.

Then there is another type of person who, on the other hand, may have a strong desire to help people in a way by correcting them. These types of people are always looking for someone or something to correct. This can be good in some cases, but it can also be bad.

What is the balance in both of these examples? The balance is in learning to walk in God’s wisdom, love, and timing. If we are not careful in speaking the truth or holding back with the truth, we can cause what God hates, discord, disagreement and strife.

As hard as it is for some people to hold back or for some to speak up, if we let God lead, and we follow His leading, it will turn out fruitful.

Bible Verse of The Day

(Deuteronomy 7:22 NKJV)  “And the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you little by little; you will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beasts of the field become too numerous for you.

God gave the Israelites a plan; it would be “little by little” that they would destroy the enemy. There was a reason why God did it this way, to protect them from the beasts of the field becoming too numerous for them to handle.

We have to know God’s plan, and just as He had a reason why He did it little by little, there are times it will be the same for us. Just because things seem to be taking a bit longer than we anticipated, it does not mean that we are not reaching our goal or receiving an answer. And it doesn’t mean that we won’t get the victory in our battle.

Don’t get me wrong… I have had times in my life where I felt like nothing was happening at all and things were too quiet. But we have to remember “little by little” is OK with God!! He has His reasons why.

Let God’s plan work for you. Let Him take all the time He wants when helping us win the battle.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-20-13

(2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

We want to let you know today that if you have received Christ and have been washed by His blood, you are a NEW creation!!

You are not just the old creation with a little soap and water applied. You are blood-washed and brand new.

Jesus did not die to help us cover our sins or to put a band-aid on them. He died to wash them away and remove them from our past.

If you are in Christ, you are brand new! Your past has been forgiven and you have been given a new future as a child of God… the Most High King!!

So no matter what you are going through today, know that you cannot be defeated. You cannot be pushed backward. You are meant to move FORWARD.

Lift your head up and fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. For He and only He is able to cleanse us from our past.

If the devil is waving your past in your face, trying to condemn you and make you feel guilty, remind him that Jesus paid the price for your sins and they are forever washed away.

Walk in victory today! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-19-13

(1 Corinthians 10:23 NKJV)  All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

As followers of Christ, we lived under grace. This means that our sins are forgiven as soon as we ask God to do so and then we repent.

To repent means to turn away from and not go back to something. Our sins should not become a habitual, often-repeated routine that we fall into.

Because of God’s grace and mercy, we have been given the freedom to choose what we do and what we don’t do. He has given us a free will.

We need to remember that as believers we have an awesome responsible to try to please God in all we do. It is His desire that we live righteous, holy lives, shining His light into the darkness around us.

None of us will ever be perfect at this, but each of us has been given the Spirit of God living within us to help us discern things and keep our feet on the path He has set before us.

God has entrusted His work to us, His people. Let’s be sure we’re doing it to the best of our ability, guided by The Holy Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-18-13

(2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV)  “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

If we humble ourselves and Pray.

This is the key to unlock the freedom in our country. This is the key to get God back into the places where He has been abandoned or shut out…Prayer is where it’s at.

Prayer is powerful and we don’t need to be anywhere in particularly to pray and get with God. We don’t need to be a Pastor or have any title for God to hear us; all we need is to be His people and open our mouths and our hearts to Him.

As a child cries out for their Papa when they have fallen down and are hurt, their Papa will not let them stay down hurt and suffering. No… he will coming running to rescue them, just as our Daddy wants to help us to get back UP and heal our wounds!

Today we need to pray for our country. Each one of us, not just a few here and there, not just a handful of us. We all need to join together for our country, whether it is in the USA or in another country, we are brothers and sisters in Christ (Matthew 18:20 NKJV)  “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”).  Let us come together today, take some time today and pray.

God is with us in this. He tells us in His word to repent and Pray and He will heal our land. Is your land aching for Him today? Is it crying out for His presence once again?

We are equipped to do this. He has given us all we need for this battle and it lies in our hearts, protected and safe. It lies on our tongues. No one can take it away from us. Let us pray today for our country and let God Heal what man has tried to destroy.
