Bible Verse of The Day – 4-26-24

Hebrews 11:30 (NKJV) 30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.

Picture this; you are in the military, and you are told to conquer your enemy by silently marching around their walls for six days, and then yelling loudly on the seventh day.

Sounds far-fetched, right?

But that is exactly what God told the Israelites to do when they opposed Jericho.

This endeavor did not require extreme military might or precision for victory to come.

What did it require?

It required faith on the part of those who were instructed to do the marching.

And so it is with our own lives. We all face our own Jericho or our own Goliath.

Regardless of what it is, the odds seem stacked against us as our opponent looms large in our faces.

We can be opposed on personal levels in many ways and to varying degrees.

Some days, our faith is strong, and we feel like we can conquer anything we face.

Other days, we may feel weak and impotent, unable to swat and kill a small mosquito.

But this does not negate who God is and the faith that He has placed within each of us.

And faith is what it takes to please Him. Faith is required to walk the walk He has tasked us with walking.

So, we say to you today, hold onto hope, even when hope seems hard to find.

Press into God even when He seems terribly far away and silent.

Know that you are not here to simply exist and then quietly disappear. You have a purpose. And that purpose is to honor, serve and worship the God who created you.

So, let us do just that. Let us put him and keep Him in His rightful place in our lives, walking in the faith that He has sown into us.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-24

John 20:29 (NKJV) 29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Thomas was a doubter. He refused to believe what the other disciples told Him about Jesus being resurrected unless he saw it himself.

Thomas had questions. How could Jesus really be alive? He had been crucified and buried. Everyone knew it.

How could his fellow disciples, whom he had spent the last three years with, be so cruel as to tell him that Jesus was no longer in the tomb?

It was hard for him to accept what he was being told even though Jesus had told them all in advance what would take place.

John 20:25 (NKJV) 25 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

Many of us are just like Thomas. We refuse to believe something unless we see it with our own eyes. We question everything, even if God Himself has said it.

This will not only cause our faith to falter, but it will also allow doubt to grow in our minds.

But there is no need to fret because God tells us some things that will help us.

First, He told us that His ways and His thoughts are higher than ours.

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Next, He told us not to rely on our own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Then, He told us that we are to walk by faith, not by what we see.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Let us not be like Thomas, doubting the words of Jesus or what God has told us in His word.

We may not understand some of it, or we might find some of it hard to comprehend.

But let us take Him at His word, learning to trust Him and believe Him even when we might not understand it.

And as we make a deliberate effort to grow our relationship with Him, we will find ourselves doubting and questioning Him less and less.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-24

Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Faith is something that we all need to be walking in. This verse is a good reminder for us all today.

Life can take its toll on us at times and cause our faith to get pushed down. It can make us feel like, “what just happened to me?”.

Life. That’s what just happened.

You just never know what we will be facing from one day to the next. And when hard times hit, our faith is surely tested.

Having faith despite what we see or hear going on in our life is really a great opportunity to see God move in our very scary situation!

If we have just a tiny bit of it, nothing is impossible.

That’s awesome news because God has dealt (given to) each of us a measure of this much-needed faith to move mountains with.

We cannot do the impossible without having faith in Him. We need this faith moving, active, and working in our lives daily!

Romans 12:3 (NKJV) 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

When hard times come and we are facing the most devasting thing we have ever had to face, remember that faith in God will help us get over to the other side of whatever we are facing.

What is it today we are needing God to help us with?

Have faith in Him. And whatever He guides us in doing, do it.

We should not talk ourselves out of it or doubt His guidance.

We need to follow Him; stick to Him like glue. He will walk us through it all. Step by step!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-23

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

How do we know when we are in the will of God, taking steps of faith and not steps of presumption?

Three words; there is peace.

We can’t express this enough. No matter what steps we need to take, there will be a “God-given peace” when it’s Him.

This doesn’t mean it won’t be challenging, because when we step out and do anything different than what we are used to doing, there will usually be that element of fear, insecurity, or nervousness/anxiety.

But if it is God, even in all those different emotions we feel, there will be a peace that surpasses all understanding.

That is the Peace of God letting us know it will be OK, guarding us from our emotions that will bombard our heart and mind.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

If we are feeling chaotic after stepping out in what we thought was faith, it’s a sure sign something is off.

Don’t ignore it and think it will get better over time.

Whatever changes we made that could possibly have caused it, we need to undo as fast as we can so we can figure out what exactly happened, and why.

There is much to be said about drawing close to God.

It’s in moments like these that walking close to Him surely makes a difference. It can literally save us from making huge mistakes or wasting a lot of time on things that weren’t ours in the first place.

Some may ask, “do we just step out in faith even if we are not sure it’s God?”.

If we just step out and do whatever we want, without being prayerful and waiting on God, we are not walking by faith. Rather, it is presumption.

We need to wait fully on Him and make sure it is what He wants us to do.

If we wait on Him, He strengthens our hearts to take the step He puts in front of us. Even though it’s a step of faith on our part, He goes before us and helps us through it all.

Psalms 27:14 (NKJV) 14 Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

We don’t want to confuse faith with presumption. Wait on the Lord, and He will guide us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-21-23

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

If God is prompting us to take a step of faith today, we shouldn’t hesitate.

We may not know the details of it all, but the first step is the most important one. And God will show us more as we submit to Him.

When we step out not knowing how it is all going to turn out, that is walking in faith at its finest. Faith walking is one of the most exciting ways to live as a believer.

You see, God has a way of opening doors for us that we could never open on our own, by our own intellect, our own wisdom or our own understanding.

Abram’s door came with a big change, and a command to leave his country; to go out from his family and his father’s house, to a place unknown to him.

I’d say Abram was not walking by sight. He couldn’t know or see what was before him. He had to walk by faith.

Genesis 12:1 (NKJV) 1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

Who today needs a door to open? Who needs a God-inspired plan? Who needs a God-changed life?

It’s called, “the land that I will show you.”

Are we willing to walk by faith, not knowing what lies ahead of us?

Are we willing to take steps that we never thought we could take?

Are we ready to grow and see God’s hand on our day-to-day life?

This walk is not just about God opening doors for us while we sit idly by and wait.

We will have a part to play in it. It’s a two-part walk where God does His part, and we must be willing to do ours in order for it to work.

We may have to do things that take us out of our comfort zone. Not to worry though, it is very rewarding when we see the outcome of it all.

Are we ready for an adventure?

There is an old saying, “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen”.

Some may say that walking in the kind of faith that Abram had to walk in is too hard, and they may be inclined to try to “get out of the kitchen”.

But as believers trusting in Almighty God, let us say, “we are ready, Lord. Take us all the way. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-1-23

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Over the years, I have come to understand how important this really is.

Our faith is the key to every aspect of our walk with God.

It’s critical for us to recognize that this faith is not faith in ourselves. It is not faith in a person, such as a pastor or other church leader.

And it isn’t faith for the sake of having faith.

Our faith must be solely, strongly rooted in God alone.

And it is that kind of faith that is being referred to in the verse above.

It is that kind of faith that will allow us to see God move in our lives. It is that kind of faith that will cause us to see miracles; true miracles that are life changing.

This kind of faith is not meant to be on display on Sunday morning. It is not a mechanism by which we obtain social status.

Jesus mentioned this kind of faith on several occasions. And in all these instances, people experienced miracles. Here is one of them.

Mark 5:34 (NKJV) 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

On another occasion, a Roman centurion approached Jesus and asked Him to heal his servant but wanted Him to do so without even going to see the person in need of healing.

Jesus was astounded at the man’s great faith!

Matthew 8:10 (NKJV) 10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

It is this kind of faith in Him that God wants us to have; the kind of faith that trusts Him implicitly.

So, we encourage you to seek God. Pursue Him with every fiber of your being, not so you can see miracles, but so you can see Him for who He is; the One who created everything we see. The one who breathed life into our lungs and created the rhythm of our heartbeats.

And, yes, even the One who still does miracles each and every day.

For without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-2-23

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

When we obey God’s will rather than our own, we do so having faith that He will produce the evidence, or results, of our obedience as we step out into the unknown.

We submit our plans and our future to God and trust Him. That’s faith in action, letting Him guide our steps without knowing the end result in advance. We just take it step by step.

Following Jesus often means forfeiting our plans, submitting our heart, our desires and our way of thinking, and taking on a whole new way of living.

Want to see the evidence of things not seen? Want to be a successful and powerful child of God? Let Him lead us in our daily walk.

We may say, “how?. How does the Lord lead us?”.

Through His word, the Holy Bible, which is our guide.

And He also sent us a Helper to bring understanding. The Holy Spirit will help us and give us power and strength over our fleshly desires.

Through His anointing power we will obey God rather than our own desires, and find ourselves walking in such faith and holy living.

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NKJV) 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Where are we in our lives today? Do we have the faith to step out and submit our plans to Him?

God, help us to trust You in a deeper way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-26-22

Hebrews 11:8 (NKJV) 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

Faith is the catalyst for all that we do as followers of Christ.

We obey God and do things He has asked us to do, many times without knowing how to do it, or even why He wants us to do it.

Some might call this blind faith. But it’s really not blind at all. It’s a deep trust that we develop as we follow Him and grow closer to Him, learning more about who He is and what He wants for our lives.

This kind of faith is what lights a fire in us to want to obey Him and walk out things that bring fear to the natural mind.

That same faith is what quells those fears and gives us the courage and strength to go places that we’ve never seen, both in the natural and in the spiritual realm, and do things we’ve never done.

Faith such as this is what allowed Abraham to leave his home and venture to a land he had never seen before.

This kind of faith doesn’t just happen. It comes over time as we grow and mature in God. It comes one little step at a time as we learn to trust Him.

Make no mistake. This kind of faith isn’t built on a desire to do great personal feats, prophesy boldly or work incredible miracles.

It is built on a strong desire to love God, obey His word and follow the path He has set before us. It is not selfish or self-centered. It wants only to please Him who created us and put the breath of life in us.

And this faith isn’t a pursuit of faith itself. Faith without a sincere, burning love for God isn’t faith at all, but just a selfish pursuit to be somebody that God hasn’t called us to be.

Trust God. Love Him more than anything else. Put Him first in everything. And our faith in Him will grow like a mighty flame.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-24-22

Hebrews 6:15 (NLT) 15 Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.

Oh, what we can learn from Abraham!

Many times over the years I have heard people refer to “the patience of Job”.

But I have never heard anyone mention the patience of Abraham!

In reality, it was Job’s faith that brought him through his ordeal; his battle with the enemy and the bodily attacks he endured.

Abraham, on the other hand, had patience.

When God promised Abraham that He would make him a great nation, Abraham was 75 years old (Genesis 12:1-4).

By the time Isaac, the child that God had promised him, was born, Abraham was 100 years old. Now that’s patience!

Don’t get it wrong; Abraham was far from perfect. And his wife, Sarah, was just as bad, as she encouraged Abraham to have a child with her maidservant after waiting 10 years or so.

In the end, though, God was faithful as He always is, and Sarah conceived a son in her old age. And Abraham held on for that promise, knowing that God would somehow make His promises come to pass.

Let’s try to put ourselves in Abraham’s shoes for a minute or two.

How would we have handled his situation? Would we have endured long enough to allow God to carry out His plan?

Many of us don’t want to wait 25 minutes, never mind 25 years. But as we mature in Christ, we usually learn that God’s word is true, and His promises are worth holding onto because He is faithful.

And with our maturity, we begin to understand that God’s timing is almost never the same as ours. That’s the biggest thing we can learn when it comes to trusting God and waiting on Him.

Trust God. Wait on Him. It’s not necessarily easy. But it’s God’s plan and His way that we need to follow, not ours!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-17-22

Psalm 107:20 (NKJV) 20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

He sent His word and healed them.

There is healing in His word.

What is He saying to us today? What is His healing word for our situation, for our relationship, for our children, grandchildren, for our finances, for our medical condition, etc.? What is His healing word for our country or for this world?

Are our ears open, and are we listening for His word that will bring deliverance from our destruction?

Is it a specific verse standing out to us today, speaking loud and clear? Are we doubting that it could be that simple?

When the centurion went after Jesus and wanted healing for his servant, Jesus did not physically go to heal him. Why?

Because this centurion was a man under authority and had soldiers under him. He knew what it meant to say, “go”, and they would go and do what they were told to do.

He understood the power of words. And he believed that all Jesus needed to do was speak His word.

Matthew 8:8 (NKJV) 8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.

He told the man, “go your way and as you believe, so let it be done for you”. And the servant was healed!

It took faith on the part of the centurion, believing that Jesus could heal Him even if He didn’t go to the centurion’s home!

Matthew 8:13 (NKJV) 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.

How much faith do we have? Can we be like the centurion today and believe Jesus’s word over our situation? Do we believe that He can and will bring healing and or deliverance through His word?
