Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-14

Micah 6:8 (NKJV)8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

So what does God require of us?

To do justly – do the right thing; the thing that pleases Him.

To love mercy – to learn to show mercy to others, just as He has shown mercy to us.

To walk humbly with your God – humility is the key to a successful relationship with our God. If we can learn to humble ourselves before Him, there will be nothing that stops us from pressing into Him and learning to love Him with our whole heart.

Humility is also the key to successful relationships of every kind, whether it be your marriage, your career or anything else. If we can be humble, admit when we’re wrong, heed counsel and correction and learn to listen to others, we will go very far.

Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.

Enjoy your weekend.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-13

(1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV)  Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

The Spirit of God dwells in us!

To dwell in anything means:  to remain for a time, to live as a resident.

Taking care of our temple is a big part of being a Christian, a child of the most High God. It allows God to remain in us or reside there.

How we take care of our temple determines how much God can do in us and through us. This is where He dwells, not in a church building or any building. He dwells in nothing made by hands.

(Acts 17:24 NKJV)  “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.

It is important to God that we care for ourselves. We need to eat right and exercise, get the rest we need and make sure we even share laughter to help us have a good, healthy, balanced life.

We can not mistreat our temples and expect to be able to do the things He may ask us to do. We have to be ready and alert. We have to be trained and disciplined in all areas. He wants a place to live that is clean and healthy.

Temptation, can come by way of food or drink, lack of exercise, use of bad language, lack of studying or reading God’s word, watching the wrong movies/television shows, listening to music that is demeaning or slanderous to God, or even hanging out with the wrong crowd, etc.

These are some of the ways we can be tempted, causing our temple… our body, soul and spirit to be involved in things that can take us off the path, or destroy our walk or call with God.

These very things can cause stumbling blocks to rise up in front of us, preventing us from becoming all that God wants us to be. They can cause our relationship with Him to be less than what it needs to be in order for us to hear God on a regular basis.

It’s not necessarily one thing more than another that can ruin it for us, but in all these areas we need to be careful. Anything that is not good for our temple, we should steer clear of and not allow the enemy to continue to tempt us into trying even just a little.

Keeping our temple clean is important to God and it should be very important to us as well. These may seem like little things that are not very noticeable to others, but it’s the little foxes that come and steal. (Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV)  Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-19-13

(1 Corinthians 10:23 NKJV)  All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

As followers of Christ, we lived under grace. This means that our sins are forgiven as soon as we ask God to do so and then we repent.

To repent means to turn away from and not go back to something. Our sins should not become a habitual, often-repeated routine that we fall into.

Because of God’s grace and mercy, we have been given the freedom to choose what we do and what we don’t do. He has given us a free will.

We need to remember that as believers we have an awesome responsible to try to please God in all we do. It is His desire that we live righteous, holy lives, shining His light into the darkness around us.

None of us will ever be perfect at this, but each of us has been given the Spirit of God living within us to help us discern things and keep our feet on the path He has set before us.

God has entrusted His work to us, His people. Let’s be sure we’re doing it to the best of our ability, guided by The Holy Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-12-13

(Galatians 5:24-25 NKJV)  And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. {25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Doing God’s will, vs.our own will, can be very complicated if we are not letting ourselves be led by the Spirit.

At times our flesh will desire something and the Spirit of God is saying “No”! But because we love what the flesh is wanting or what it desires, we will ignore the Spirit and His promptings and give in to the flesh.

After the fact, we always feel terrible for not listening and wished we had made the right choice.

This is very common in the lives of all believers, having to fight off the desires of the flesh so that we can be led by the Spirit. Sometimes the fight is a little easier than others, depending on how badly we want what we can’t have.

Keep that flesh crucified and we will eventually see why God does what He does when He does it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-13

(1 Peter 2:11-12 NKJV)  Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, {12} having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

We are in a war daily with fleshly lusts against our soul.

Have you ever noticed at times, even after being a Christian or child of God for some time, that we still get tempted to act out in a way that we know God would not approve of?

This is because our flesh lusts after things and it is up to us to shut it down. No matter what comes our way, we have the final say; we are in charge of what we do.

That is why it’s so important that we keep ourselves close to God; the closer we are, the more sensitive we are to Him. When we mess up we stop what we are doing, and right then and there, we repent.

It is never too late to stop the flesh, even if we don’t realize until we are in the middle of it. God makes a way for us to get out and fix things because He loves us.

It is our good works that many will observe and by this we will glorify God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-13

(1 Peter 2:20 NKJV)  For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

Who wants to suffer and be punished when we didn’t do anything wrong? This verse will challenge us and cause us to grow in Christ, because walking this out takes strength, discipline and a lot of leaning on Him.

We have to remember that God knows and sees everything. Even though we may be going through a difficult time, paying the price for something that wasn’t our fault, we need to have a good attitude about it. By doing so, our reward and praise will come from Him.

If you are going through this situation today, this word is for you. God is saying to you that He sees it and you will be commended by Him. Don’t give up, for your deliverance is here!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-12

(Matthew 7:12 NKJV)  “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Going by this scripture are we to only do good to those that do good to us, those that treat us right or show us attention, those that know us and are in our group? No. We need to treat people the way we would like them to treat us, whether we know them personally or not.

For instance, I used to clean for this company. The owner trained me and taught me when you go in to the homes/business you are to move fast and just wipe things down. Spray with Windex but don’t take to much time. She would give me an allotted amount of time.

When I went in to clean for the customers, I couldn’t do it that way, it felt wrong to me. They were paying really good money. So, I would work faster and harder to do a more thorough job and give the customer what they were paying for, and my boss couldn’t tell because I would be done in the time she allotted me.

The day came when the customers started to request for me to come and clean for them instead of her or others that she would send. It was not my intention for this to happen, but it did.

Time went by and she had to stop working and let go of the business. Guess who ended up with the whole business? ME! What a blessing for me! I wasn’t just getting a paycheck but I was getting a business. For what? For doing unto others as I would want done to myself. Amen!!

Don’t think that your efforts are going unseen…God is faithful!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-14-12

(Colossians 3:23 NKJV)  And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men…

I love this verse! This is a great reminder for each and every one of us to do everything we do to the best of our ability and with passion.

God wants us to do things as though we are doing them directly for him. It doesn’t matter if we’re at work or at home, whether we’re running a machine in a factory, filing paperwork in an office, mowing our lawn at home, cleaning our house or whatever else we might be doing.

God wants us to do it as though we are doing it for Him. Why? Because we are doing it for Him!

We are His hands and feet here on earth. We are the light of the world. We might be the only “Jesus” some people get to see. We might be the only light shining in a dark place. So we need to make sure our light doesn’t get dimmed by doing something half-heartedly, leaving a bad impression of God for someone else to remember.

God love us and wants His light to shine through us, so let’s make sure it shines as brightly as it can!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-12

(Jer 1:19 NKJV)  They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the LORD, “to deliver you.”

How many times do we feel like someone is coming against us? How many of us can testify that we are fought hard when we are trying to do the right thing?

You would think that people would like it when you are living right. The first thing people say is, “your being judgmental” or “you think your better then us!” They try to make you think there is something wrong with you.

So many of the people that don’t want to walk according to God’s Word like to throw stones at those who do. Not all of them do this, but many do.

Just as this scripture says, though, “They will fight against you, but they shall NOT prevail”…the LORD will deliver us!

Stand strong in the Lord and keep doing what’s right. No matter how hard it seems to get, we will prevail with God’s strength and His help.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-27-12

(2 Th 3:13 NKJV)  But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

Have you ever felt like you just want to stop trying… like it’s not worth the effort that it takes to do the right thing?

Let me encourage you today to never, ever give up doing the right thing. There are times when it feels like it’s harder to do right than to do wrong, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth the effort to do right.

Giving up is the easy way out. God doesn’t want us to take the easy way. He wants us to take the way that will give Him glory and make us stronger!

Today, as you fight your way through whatever battle comes your way, remember that nothing is gained by taking the easy way.

Anything worth obtaining has to be fought for. But when the battle is won, it makes the prize that much more valuable.
