Bible Verse of The Day – 6-17-13

(1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV)  Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, {7} casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Humility: the quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people.

Humility is such an important character trait, but it can be so hard to achieve in so many ways.

It seems that just when we think we’re being humble, God comes along and shows us how prideful we are.

Most of us would never think or admit that we are anything less than humble, but pride can creep into our lives in so many ways.

Want to know the best way to become humble? Serve others. Serve others who are in need. Spend time helping someone in trouble. Spend time doing things for people who can’t do for themselves.

Go to “the least of these” and be their hands and feet. When someone seems like they might be less than you in any way at all, put yourself in their shoes. Take the time to learn how they got to where they are. Sometimes hearing other people’s trials and struggles is very humbling.

There is never a lack of needs. Find someone in need and help tend to them. Get God on it. Let Him direct you to those He wants you to help. Sometimes it’s the ones who don’t ask for help who need it the most.

(Matthew 25:35-40 NKJV)  “{35} ‘for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; {36} ‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-15-13

(James 3:8-10 NKJV)  But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. {9} With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. {10} Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

What legacy will we leave?

When we have breathed our last breath, what will be left behind to remind people that we were here on this earth? When they remember us, what will they think of?

This is not a morbid message about dying. It’s a message about living!

Each day we speak words. We speak lots of them. Some of us, depending on our personality, might speak more or less words than others. But at the end of the day. we’ve still spoken lots and lots of words!

What we say to others can sow seeds of love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness… God’s qualities, or they can sow seeds of bitterness, strife, anger, hatred… the fruits of the enemy of our soul.

(Proverbs 18:21 NKJV)  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Words can seem so insignificant, but they truly have the power to bring life or bring death. And we need to remember that once words are spoken, they can never be taken back.

Let’s make a decision to choose our words very wisely, regardless of who they are being spoken to.

Our words bring life or death. Speak words of life!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-14-13

(Hebrews 6:15 NKJV)  And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

The verse above is referring to Abraham. God had made a promise to Him. The promise came to pass, but it took a while to happen.

Abraham patiently endured as he waited. His patience was rewarded with the fulfillment of God’s promise.

The really cool part of this scenario is that God swore to Abraham and because He could swear by nobody greater than Himself, He swore by Himself!

(Hebrews 6:13 NKJV)  For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself…

God is a God of His word. He is pure and holy, not able to lie or break a promise.

If we are waiting on God and He has promised us something, He is sure to keep His word and fulfill His promise.

We just need to be sure that it’s God’s promise we’re waiting on and not man’s!

Seek God in everything. Trust Him with everything. If our hope and trust is in Him, we can never go wrong.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-13-13

(Hebrews 5:13-14 NKJV)  For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. {14} But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

It is never a good thing to stay in one place too long with regard to spiritual growth.

As believers and followers of Christ, God wants us to constantly be learning and growing, getting a better understanding of who He is and what He wants for our lives.

Some of us have been Christians for a very long time, while others may have just recently recognized their lost condition and gotten saved. There may still be others reading this who are seeking God and trying to figure out how to reach Him.

One thing we have learned over the years is that the length of time that a person has been a believer doesn’t always correlate with their spiritual age or maturity. Some people grow quickly, while others might take some time. It all depends on the person, their personality and their circumstances.

Today, we’d like to challenge everyone!

We’d like to challenge you to take some new steps in your walk with God and make a choice to pursue Him more diligently. A strong relationship with anyone doesn’t just happen. It takes constant effort on the part of both people.

And so it is with God. If we desire to be close to Him and know Him well, we have to put forth the effort.

So, starting today, make an effort to set aside a little time each day to do a little something extra to build your relationship with God. Read His word. Talk to Him. Listen for His voice.

If you’re sincere in doing this, you will begin to see a difference in your relationship with our Father, the Creator of all we see, in a very short time.

Go ahead. We dare you!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-12-13

(Galatians 5:24-25 NKJV)  And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. {25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Doing God’s will, vs.our own will, can be very complicated if we are not letting ourselves be led by the Spirit.

At times our flesh will desire something and the Spirit of God is saying “No”! But because we love what the flesh is wanting or what it desires, we will ignore the Spirit and His promptings and give in to the flesh.

After the fact, we always feel terrible for not listening and wished we had made the right choice.

This is very common in the lives of all believers, having to fight off the desires of the flesh so that we can be led by the Spirit. Sometimes the fight is a little easier than others, depending on how badly we want what we can’t have.

Keep that flesh crucified and we will eventually see why God does what He does when He does it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-11-13

(Psalm 69:34 NKJV)  Let heaven and earth praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them.

Take some time today to Praise Him. He is worthy!

Think about the times when you were lost and He found you. How about the time when you were in a pinch and He took care of your need?

What about when someone was hurting or abusing you and tears rolled down your cheek because you thought you were alone and there was no one there to help you, only to realize that God sent someone to help you out and give you a helping hand?

I’m sure there are all kinds of stories where God was there for each one of us at one time or another.

Let us praise Him today for the God that He is! AWESOME!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-10-13

(Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Word of God is more than just ink on paper. It’s alive!

The Word of God is our instruction manual for life. It gives us everything we will ever need to live our life on earth successfully and victoriously.

Do we have questions? God’s Word has the answers we need.

There is not a single situation in our lives for which God’s Word doesn’t offer the solution or the wisdom we need to make a sound decision. We can study the lives of godly men and women in history and learn from them.

We can glean understanding in many things by learning from those who have walked before us.

The Word of God is truth. It teaches us right from wrong. It teaches us the difference between good and evil. It teaches us how to be overcomers. It teaches us about healing, deliverance, God’s provision, grace, mercy, salvation, forgiveness, compassion and so much more.

We’d like to encourage you to spend time in God’s Word. Take just a few minutes, pick it up and read it. Ask God to give you a desire to know His word. Once you get started reading it and learning it, you won’t be able to stop!

Be blessed and encouraged.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-8-13

(Galatians 1:9 NKJV)  As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

What gospel are people preaching to you?

The true Gospel of Christ is hard to find today. It has been subverted, watered down, twisted, candy-coated and turned inside-out, all for the sake of making it more fashionable and easier for people to swallow.

Sin is seldom addressed. Instead, people “have issues” or “suffer from self esteem problems”. Bad habits and bad behavior is blamed on baggage left over from childhood problems.

The gospel of positive thinking has replaced the gospel of repentance. The gospel of wealth has replaced the gospel of forgiveness of sins. And the list can go on and on.

What the world needs, though, is the true gospel of Christ that teaches forgiveness of sins, repentance, holiness, grace, mercy, deliverance from demons, healing and the ability to approach God directly, without the need for a priest or any other man in the middle.

Yes… God does want the best for us. He does want us to prosper in all things. But He also wants us, first and foremost, to understand that without Him we are lost, sinful and without hope.

Listen carefully to what you’re hearing and what you’re receiving. Be sure it is the true gospel of Jesus Christ… nothing more and nothing less.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-13

(1 Peter 2:11-12 NKJV)  Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, {12} having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

We are in a war daily with fleshly lusts against our soul.

Have you ever noticed at times, even after being a Christian or child of God for some time, that we still get tempted to act out in a way that we know God would not approve of?

This is because our flesh lusts after things and it is up to us to shut it down. No matter what comes our way, we have the final say; we are in charge of what we do.

That is why it’s so important that we keep ourselves close to God; the closer we are, the more sensitive we are to Him. When we mess up we stop what we are doing, and right then and there, we repent.

It is never too late to stop the flesh, even if we don’t realize until we are in the middle of it. God makes a way for us to get out and fix things because He loves us.

It is our good works that many will observe and by this we will glorify God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-6-13

(Revelation 3:20 NKJV)  “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Please read this very carefully today. This is very important for you to understand.

In the verse above, Jesus is talking about standing at the door and knocking. He is imploring us to open the door, let Him in and allow Him to dine with us.

Let me be right to the point here, if you don’t mind. This verse is many times used incorrectly, aiming it at people who don’t know God or who are not followers of Christ.

The truth, though, is that Jesus was speaking to the church…His followers. He was asking them to let Him in!

And do you know what? He is still knocking today, asking us to let Him in. He is standing at our heart’s door, asking us to please let Him in. We have known Him but He has been pushed aside in so many ways, left outside, looking in.

Church…people of God, we need to let Jesus back in. It is imperative that we let God peel away the hardened layers of our hearts and let God rule and reign in our lives again.

It’s time to put Jesus first in our lives and push those other things to the back burner, where they belong.

Today is the day. Don’t put this off any longer. Jesus is knocking at the door. Will we let Him in?

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-13

(1 Peter 2:20 NKJV)  For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

Who wants to suffer and be punished when we didn’t do anything wrong? This verse will challenge us and cause us to grow in Christ, because walking this out takes strength, discipline and a lot of leaning on Him.

We have to remember that God knows and sees everything. Even though we may be going through a difficult time, paying the price for something that wasn’t our fault, we need to have a good attitude about it. By doing so, our reward and praise will come from Him.

If you are going through this situation today, this word is for you. God is saying to you that He sees it and you will be commended by Him. Don’t give up, for your deliverance is here!

Amen.
