Bible Verse of The Day – 12-2-23

Proverbs 15:23 (NKJV) 23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

Have you ever said something, and as soon as it left your mouth you knew you were in trouble?

Yes…it happens to all of us at one time or another.

It’s called open mouth insert foot syndrome!

It is important for God’s children to be very careful of the words we speak.

If we realized how important our words are, we would give more thought to what we say and how we say it.

Words just seem to come up and out at times when we least expect it. Without even thinking about what we are going to say, they will just fly out.

But we can control them.

That’s right. We really can control our mouth.

It’s not always easy. I am still working on it.

It takes being aware of what is about to come out at all times.

Sometimes I am just tired and “my bucket is full”.

It’s no excuse, I know. But it’s the truth.

When our bucket is full, we need to be more alert and much more attentive to what our mouth is about to speak.

It’s not easy to make sure we say the right thing at the right time. It is my prayer for us all to get better at it, though.

Remember, the next time we must give an answer to a person or situation, joy comes by the answer of our mouth, if the answer we give is the right one!

Give time for the Holy Spirit to move on us before we let our words roll out.

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…

God, help us give the right answers in due season. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-22

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) 1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

As believers in Christ, it’s important that we remember this in the midst of discussions, including some that may be heavy or intense.

We must be able to change our tone and hold our emotions together at a moment’s notice.

Is it easy? NOPE, not on our own. But, with the Holy Spirit, He will help us stay calm and hold our fleshly desires under control.

We can still be firm, even in our soft answers. It will make a difference. But if we are harsh or angry, and we say things that are not helpful, it can very well stir the pot.

We don’t want to be harsh when expressing ourselves; we want to be productive.

We want to be heard. And if that is the case, we must take these words to heart literally. Soft answers work!

We have to be able to stuff the emotions down sometimes. That is all part of maturing as a believer. Matured enough to say no to the emotions and yes to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

Words will make a difference when used correctly, with the right tone. They will bring much healing, understanding and forward motion.

Soft turns away wrath. Harsh stirs the pot.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-16

Proverbs 15:4 (NKJV) 4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Watching our words at all times is a big part of our walk with God. It’s a daily exercise and we should constantly be aware of what we are saying to others, making sure it is good and wholesome.

Some days it can be really hard. Those are usually the days we wake up and it seems like everything and everyone is pulling on us. We are busy, busy, busy and we have very little time for anything. Our patience and kindness is lost and we feel it. That is a sure sign we need to pull back.

Rest helps us to be alert. But if we neglect it, it can hurt us and trickle down to all those around us.

Resting is very important and it is Biblical. Even God, our CREATOR, took rest on the 7th day.

Genesis 2:2 (NKJV) 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

Good words, good thoughts, good attitude and good performance comes when we are rested.

Is God speaking to our heart today and telling us to take a rest?

Spend some quality time with God in His word, and let Him help us get rejuvenated and back on track. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-16

Proverbs 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

There are times, even as a Christian, that we may want to say something unpleasant to someone or just have a rant about something that is bothering us.

The words we choose can make a huge difference in a situation, either positively or negatively. Knowing this should cause us to want to take our time and choose our words carefully and wisely.

However, in the heat of the moment, sometimes we just want to blurt out what we’re thinking. It takes discipline and strength when we are in this state of mind, to pull back and remember what God tells us to do in this situation.

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

Taking a few minutes and giving it some thought before saying something, especially if we are angry or have a strong opinion about something, can do a “WORLD” of good and can bring positive insight and healing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-18-15

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

These are very sound words of advice for every single one of us.

Many lives are changed forever by words spoken hastily or in anger.

Angry words, or words spoken without thinking about them first, can do irreparable damage to relationships and to the hearts of those we love.

Yes, those words can be forgiven, but they can never be taken back. Once words are spoken, they remain forever in the ears, the mind and the heart of the one they were spoken to.

When situations arise where there is tension, and discussions become heated, how very important it is that we take our time before speaking.

When something pops into our mind to say, we need to let the Holy Spirit filter it and be sure that it’s what He wants us to speak, not what we want to say because our emotions are running high.

So, first off, if we have spoken out of anger to anyone and caused them to be hurt, we need to drop our pride and go to them, and apologize, asking them to forgive us. It doesn’t matter what they might have said that hurt us. We need to hold ourselves accountable to God.

How the other person handles it is between them and God, not between them and us.

And once we have apologized to the people we have hurt, we need to ask God to help us in this area, so we don’t fall prey to this again and hurt others.

Listen; be swift to hear. Think; be slow to speak. Stay calm; be slow to anger.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-15-13

(James 3:8-10 NKJV)  But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. {9} With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. {10} Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

What legacy will we leave?

When we have breathed our last breath, what will be left behind to remind people that we were here on this earth? When they remember us, what will they think of?

This is not a morbid message about dying. It’s a message about living!

Each day we speak words. We speak lots of them. Some of us, depending on our personality, might speak more or less words than others. But at the end of the day. we’ve still spoken lots and lots of words!

What we say to others can sow seeds of love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness… God’s qualities, or they can sow seeds of bitterness, strife, anger, hatred… the fruits of the enemy of our soul.

(Proverbs 18:21 NKJV)  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Words can seem so insignificant, but they truly have the power to bring life or bring death. And we need to remember that once words are spoken, they can never be taken back.

Let’s make a decision to choose our words very wisely, regardless of who they are being spoken to.

Our words bring life or death. Speak words of life!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-17-13

(Matthew 12:37 NKJV)  “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Our spoken words are a very serious thing. What we say has a huge impact on us and those around us.

Jesus taught in the verse above that we will be judged for our words and we will either be justified by them or condemned for them.

This is truly eye-opening and convicting, because every single one of us has spoken things that would have been better left unsaid.

There is not a lot that can be said to expound on this. It’s pretty black and white, with no hidden meanings or deeply spiritual symbolism.

So let’s heed what Jesus is teaching us and guard our hearts, because it’s what is in our hearts that causes the words to come out of our mouths.

God, give us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us, that we may speak words to be justified by.
