Bible Verse of The Day – 12-15-25

Job 1:20-22 (LSB) 20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh.” 22 Through all this Job did not sin, nor did he give offense to God.

There is a remarkable statement in these verses that we must pay attention to!

Job had just received reports that he had lost everything that he held dear; his workers, all his possessions, and every one of his children.

Nothing remained. All that he had worked for, and all that meant anything to him had vanished in a matter of hours.

This is utter devastation no matter how you look at it.

What did Job do?

Did he throw a temper tantrum?

Did he shake his fist at God and ask how this could have happened?

Did he yell and curse God for the disaster that had befallen him?

No. He fell to his knees and worshiped God, proclaiming “naked I came into this world, and naked I will leave it. God gave, and God has taken away. Blessed be the name of God.”

Further, Job did not sin by charging God with doing wrong.

Job had a unique understanding of the sovereignty of God. He understood that God reigns over all things.

Job could have chosen to rage at God, cursing Him, as his wife encouraged him to do.

He could have shown contempt for God, abandoning his faith and walking away.

But he did not.

He stayed steadfast in his reverence for God. And he allowed God to teach him through these terrible events that came upon him.

Oh, the lessons we can all learn from Job!

Let us use his example and learn to understand the sovereignty and the faithfulness of God even as we face times of turmoil and tragedy in our lives, as God works all things for good.

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Amen 🙏
