Category: Raising Children

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-23

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Many children struggle in school these days because of the leadership the schools are operating under. The atmosphere in schools is heavy because of things that are allowed to go on.

Years ago, you went to school and learned. It was vastly different than it is today.

When you went to Sunday school, you came home singing, “I’m in the Lord’s Army, Yes sir!”.

Today, many schools (and even some churches) are now advising our children on matters that are better left to the parents, telling them who they are or who they can be.

They are teaching them many things that bring confusion with regard to gender, sexuality, etc.

Some schools are allowing children to create their own unique identity, apart from the name they were given by their parents.

Children are allowed to act out as various kinds of animals, allowing them to believe that they actually are that animal.

Boys can use the girls’ bathroom. Girls can use the boys’ bathroom.

Godly parents, if this is not a sign to rise-up and help our children, if this is not our door to walk through and speak out, letting the truth be heard, then I don’t know what is.

Kids today are being filled with garbage from the enemy, and it is messing them up. They don’t know who to believe; Mom, Dad, Teachers, Guidance Counselors, etc.

If we need to make adjustments, we must be prayerful about it and do whatever the Lord leads us to do to keep our child safe.

Speak up. Pull them out of school if you must, and teach them at home if that’s what it takes. Whatever we need to do, do it now. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

The children today are victims of the enemy’s schemes being carried out in public schools.

They are destroying them right under our noses, whether we realize it or not, in an effort to cripple the next generation.

Yes; little children today, soldiers tomorrow.

Whose army will they march in?

We are praying for them to all be marching in the “Lord’s Army”. Yes sir!

Let us be courageous and bold, willing to take whatever action is necessary to protect them

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-25-23

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Training up our children can be tricky business in this modern world.

The devil, our adversary, is very slick in his ways.

Despite walking about like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8), he doesn’t necessarily get in our faces and tell us about his intentions.

He is sneaky and will do things in subtle ways that we will fail to recognize if we are not sharp and watchful.

God’s word tells us to be sober (self-controlled) and vigilant (watchful, alert) for a reason.

If the enemy can influence our children, his work to carry adults away into total deceit is easier.

It is for this reason that we must stay on our toes with our children.

We must test everything they consume; TV shows, movies, educational materials provided by their schools, books they read, music they listen to, and the list goes on.

The amount of twisted, immoral, anti-Biblical, and outright anti-God material they are exposed to today is mind-blowing.

We need to take whatever steps are necessary to protect them, even when they or others think we are old-fashioned or out of date.

We are the guardians of their hearts and minds. While they are in their formative years, it is imperative that we act as the gatekeepers to their minds and their souls.

We cannot back off or drop our guard for one second, even when we are tired.

We must be like a watchman on the wall, spotting danger while it is still a long way off and sounding the alarm immediately.

This is critical. The lives of our little ones are at stake. They are relying on us to shield them from danger and point them in the right direction while they are too young and fragile to defend themselves.

Let us be diligent to heed God’s counsel and live up to the task He has given us with these precious lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-23 – Gatekeepers

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

We trust that you are growing and maturing in your walk with God as each new day passes.

We have a new video for you today that is extremely important, especially if you have children or grandchildren.

Today’s video is called, “Gatekeepers”, and in this video we teach about the importance of guarding the hearts and minds of our children, acting as gatekeepers to discern and filter what is allowed to come in and affect their minds.

This is a tough topic, but very necessary to teach and discuss, as our children’s minds are constantly attacked by the enemy in so many ways.

We not only hope you will watch it, but that you will also share it with others who have children.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Again, please share this video with others that may benefit from it.

Enjoy your day and be sure to hug your little ones.

We love you all very much.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-23

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

How do we train them up in this world we live in today?

First and foremost, our children need to hear our voices. They need us more than we know. They are longing for their God-loving parents to sit them down and tell them the truth.

They need to hear the truth about God, His Son and how they have a Helper, the Holy Spirit.

They need to understand the truth about life; how it can be very hard at times, but also full of joy and victory as well.

And they need to learn the truth about the devil and what he has purposed in his heart to do; to steal, kill and destroy anyone he can.

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Teach them how they are to resist him, and when they do, he will run.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Teach them how to pray and stand on their own two feet. For we are not always there with them, but God is everywhere!

They need to be taught by us being an example.

The school systems won’t teach them how to survive an enemy or a thief. Their friends won’t teach them. Social media will confuse them.

But as their parents who love them dearly, and will do anything for them, we are responsible to protect and train them up.

They need truth and it needs to be planted in them. They need to be reminded and taught continually about the things of God. Even if they say, “I’ve heard it a thousand times,” we say, “good, then what’s one more?”.

Our children need to be strong; the truth needs to be embedded in them.

Don’t give up, parents. We can’t be tired now. Stand up and fight for their lives.

Matthew 19:14 (NKJV) 14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

We bring them to Jesus by showing them the way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-20-22

Proverbs 13:24 (NKJV) 24 He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

Sometimes we have to spend some time going back to the basics, even with the word of God.

This verse is an example of that. It doesn’t unlock any of the deeper mysteries of God’s word, or give us a deeper relationship with Him in the usual sense of things.

What it does, though, is to reinforce how we are to handle the raising of our children.

Far too many parents today have lost sight of the fact that firm discipline is necessary if we want our children to understand right and wrong. It also helps them to grasp the importance of obeying, respecting and honoring authority in their lives from a young age.

Firm discipline doesn’t mean being abusive or harsh. It just means that there are absolutes that are enforced, giving our children a clearer understanding of what is expected of them.

Interestingly, the very first part of the verse states that those who do not discipline their children properly, “hate them”.

In reality, this refers to the product of a home or upbringing with little or no discipline.

An undisciplined child typically ends up being an unruly child who is difficult for people to be around. This makes them less than desirable to spend time with due to their poor behavior.

Thus, the word “hate” being applied to such situations.

And one last thing that’s noteworthy in this verse is the word, “promptly”, which is actually the very last word in the scripture.

Promptly actually means “early”. So, we are to begin proper discipline of our children early, while they are still at a young age.

This is an important piece of the puzzle that many miss, for fear of damaging their child’s psyche or for fear of causing children to be afraid of their parents.

Trust God’s word. If God disciplines those whom He loves, then should we not also properly discipline our own children?

Proverbs 3:12 (NKJV) 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-22

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Train up a child in the way they should go.

This responsibility has been placed solely in the hands of parents.

It’s big!

But God will not leave us on our own to do this. He will guide us through every step with His manual to life, His Word, the Bible.

He can only help us if we are reading it.

There are days when we may not want to because of everything else pulling on us. We are just so busy.

As we let other things creep in and we neglect to stay in the Word of God, things will get harder for us and our children will suffer.

We will try to make the right decisions for our children, but fail at times and wonder why.

Many times it’s because we lack what comes from God’s word.

It gives us strength. It gives us wisdom. It gives us encouragement. It gives us direction for both, us as the parents, and our children.

When we have children in our home, we need it. We are on a mission. And raising godly children in this day and age is a mission in and of itself, more so than ever before!

It is a daily fight to keep our kids in line and on track. It’s a fight some days just to keep ourselves in line and on track.

But here’s a gentle reminder; if we don’t keep them in the word of God, they will not do it themselves. We have to be the ones.

Parents, feed them God’s word. We get just so much time with them to do this and then they go out on their own. Let us invest our time into our babes. And then when they leave home, it’s in them.

It’s all God asks of us to do for them. And then we get to enjoy the fruit of it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-26-21

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

This verse has always fascinated me and caused me to ponder on it.

On the surface, it would appear to be saying that if we raise our children based on Biblical principles, they will never stray or go wrong.

As many can attest to, this isn’t always the case.

Why is that?

Well, there are a few factors to take into consideration.

First, the principles that we raise them by must be lived out by us, the parents, not just spoken to them. Children will tend to do what we do more than what we say, especially if what we do contradicts what we say.

Second, every human being is given a free will to choose the path they will take and how they will conduct their lives. So, even in cases where we raise them under the nurture of lovingly-instilled, biblically-grounded principles, they may still wander at times as they test their wings, so to speak.

Lastly, let’s talk for a minute about the “will not depart from it” part of this verse.

On the surface, as mentioned above, it would appear that God’s word is stating that this verse guarantees that children “raised right” will never stray.

In reality, though, some do stray. Why would that happen if this scripture was promising otherwise?

Maybe, just maybe, we’ve been taking it in a way that it was never intended to be taken.

You see, if we raise our children by Biblical principles, and we instill those same principles in them, those principles can never be “untaught”. They will carry them in their hearts and minds for the rest of their lives.

They cannot “unlearn” them.

Oh, they may not always live exactly by them, but they can never take out what we (and God) have put in.

It’s that embedded truth that they carry with them for their entire lives, which pricks their conscience and brings conviction if they stray. And even though that conviction may fade if they continue in sin, the knowledge of the truth will never be taken away from them.

This may very well be the “will not depart from it” that God’s word is talking about.

We need to trust God with our children as they walk out their adult lives, just as God trusts us with ours, remembering that as we’ve made our own bad choices and mistakes, God has never given up on us or abandoned us in the midst of those messes.

And remember; His truth will never leave them if we have imparted it into them.

Trust Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-19

Luke 15:13 (NLT) 13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living.

For those reading this who are parents, it’s no secret that raising children is a big responsibility. God has given us our offspring to raise and nurture in His love, teaching them of Him and His ways as they grow.

It’s also no secret that sometimes our children can cause us some major grief at times. And, yes, they can even disappoint us with some of the choices they make, especially as they grow into their teen years and into adulthood.

In fact, many of us reading this probably did some of this to our parents.

Sometimes children will rebel for a very short season before realizing that they need to get back on track. Other times it can take months, or even years, before they come to their senses and fix their errors.

Whether the season is short or long, it can be very, very stressful for parents to watch and walk through. And it can be hard to know the right way to handle it. We want to help them, but we also want them to learn from their choices and mistakes. Finding a balance can be tricky.

God will lead us and show us how to handle every situation, if we let Him.

Our job is to hold onto our faith in God and let Him give us hope that our children will eventually turn their eyes to Him. And while we’re doing that, we can’t let despair overwhelm us.

We just need to trust that, at some point, they will come to themselves and do what they know is right.

Luke 15:17-18 (NKJV) 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-10-18

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Our children will not learn about the good things of God, or the right way to live, if we don’t teach them or point them in the right direction. As parents, this is our responsibility.

One day, when our children were small, a conversation arose about Jesus. They had been raised in the church and were going to Sunday school at the time.

We talked about Jesus and Who He is. And it was on that day that they both put their faith in Him. When we prayed with them, as little as their understanding was, Jesus met them. They both had tears streaming down their little faces and they begin to shake with excitement.

It was the most amazing thing a parent could witness. We knew that day that they had met Him personally in their little hearts, and He became their Savior.

Kids want to know and we have to teach them. We have to help them and train them in their walk with God.

Some parents teach their children of Santa Claus, the fairy godmother and the Easter bunny. They go all out and enjoy every minute of it. These are stories that have been made up. There is no truth in them, but yet parents will push it on their kids and make it fun for them.

But, when it comes to God and His Son, the most beautiful, true love to be portrayed, they have a hard time sharing it with them when they are little.

Today is a reminder, we must train up our children in the way they should go. Put away the distractions and sit with them. Read to them, pray with them and share with them the things that He has done for us and what He will do for them if they too walk with Him.

Give them a chance to have a relationship with Someone that will help them throughout their whole life. Someone that will never leave them.

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
