Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-23

Mark 16:15-16 (NKJV) 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Why do we find it hard to walk in this promise?

Jesus is commissioning the disciples to go out into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Every single creature that they can reach. He does not discriminate or leave anyone out.

He says that anyone they preach to who believes and is baptized in His name will be saved, and these signs will follow them.

Mark 16:17-18 (NKJV) 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

It’s very important that we understand who “they” are that He is talking about. When He says they, He is speaking about all people who believe in Him and are baptized.

What signs are going to follow them?

In His name they will cast out demons, speak with new tongues, and lay hands on the sick. What does He say will happen? They shall recover!

What are we missing in the bride today?

Signs. What signs? Casting out demons, speaking in tongues and healing of those who are sick.

We are in deep trouble if we think we can do this work of God without the Holy Spirit. These signs should be normal activity for Spirit-filled believers. But do we see it happening?

The enemy is holding people in captivity because of our lack of knowledge and faith in God’s promise to us.

Why are we afraid to take the step and let the Holy Spirit have control of our tongue and speak through us the very words that will speak to God?

1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV) 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

Why are we so afraid to step out? Do we think it was only for a certain people or time period, and thus we ignore it?

Once we understand that praying in tongues is for every believer today, we will want to pray even more.

When we know and understand that the Holy Spirit wants us to lay hands on the sick and cast out demons so people can be delivered, we will be about the work of advancing God’s kingdom with the help of the Holy Spirit moving through us.

Nothing will hold us back!

Followers of Christ, we need to let our Helper, the Holy Spirit, guide us.

Let Him move through us by praying in tongues, casting out demons, and laying hands on the sick, for they will recover!

Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-11-23

Romans 8:5 (NKJV) 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

This verse is a great reminder for all followers of Christ, to follow the Spirit of God, not our flesh.

Prior to being born again, we walked and lived according to our flesh daily. It was all we knew.

Our spirit had not yet been quickened (made alive in Christ).

But when we became a new creation in Christ, we were told that we are to put away the old and take on the new.

This would be comparable to stripping off old, dirty clothes, replacing them with new clothes that have never been soiled.

The blood of Jesus doesn’t just cover our sins, but washes them away, making us brand new.

In light of this, it is important for us to begin to live as the new creations that God has made us, allowing Him to transform us and begin shaping us into who He wants us to be.

So, throwing off our old nature is imperative.

Ephesians 4:21-24 (NLT) 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

What’s important for us to remember, though, is that He does not simply toss us out to the wolves, defenseless, expecting us to know how to navigate the world as this tender newborn that we have become.

He gives us His Spirit to lead us, guide us and teach us, helping us navigate the world as a newborn child of God.

After being born again, we must make choices going forward.

With the Holy Spirit leading us, we can do just that, allowing us to learn from Him, growing with each step we take and each new day that we walk through.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-23-22

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Over the last several years, we have spent a lot of time teaching and sharing the importance of learning to be spiritual people, not just carnal Christians who rely on earthly wisdom for their understanding.

The world that we live in is tangible, and most things operate based on earthly, human wisdom. But we should not.

We should be allowing God to teach us how to live as spiritual beings, seeing, discerning and understanding things with the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

This isn’t an easy thing for some people. And even for those who learn to live this way, it takes time and purposeful effort to get there.

Our minds will fight us on this as we begin to learn to transition from human thinking to spiritual thinking.

But it’s critical that we learn this.

Why?

Because God doesn’t communicate through human intellect. He communicates through the Holy Spirit. He teaches us to see, discern and understand things through His wisdom, not by earthly wisdom.

This kind of spiritual wisdom is critical for understanding not just what God is speaking to us, but also for discerning what we see around us every day that we live and breathe here on earth.

It allows us to see and understand things that naturally-minded (carnal) people never even perceive to exist.

We need to remember that the battles we fight are not against flesh and blood, but “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12).

So, we continue to urge everyone to spend time digging into the word of God daily, feasting on it, learning of Him, getting understanding in the things of God and nurturing your spirit with the truth of the Spirit, that we would be the mighty warriors that God has called us to be.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-13-20

2 Corinthians 10:3 (NKJV) 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

According to God’s word, a believer does not war in and of the flesh. We learn how to battle differently; we don’t let the flesh get the best of us any longer.

How many know what I’m talking about here? We begin to do things by letting His Holy Spirit guide and direct our steps.

The old way is done with and there is a new way of doing things. We have to submit to God and let the change come.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

As a child of God, we are starting over. We are starting from scratch. We have a brand-new, clean slate. And we are just beginning to see what God can do when we confess our sins and walk in His faithfulness to forgive us!

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We are clean, my friend. Very clean.

That doesn’t mean sin no longer exists in us or never tempts us. It means that we have been cleansed from prior things that we have confessed, and we will need the Holy Spirit to help keep it out of our daily walk.

This is something that we learn to do on a daily basis. And as we follow God’s leading, it gets easier.

Will we ever be perfect at it? No.

But if we put God first in everything, heed the leading of the Holy Spirit, and let Him mold us and shape us, He will create a new person in us that we will barely recognize over time.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-20

Ephesians 5:19-20 (NKJV) 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

This kind of behavior comes with letting God’s Spirit be alive and able to freely move in us.

We cannot do this on our own. Sometimes our flesh is not in the mood to sing or make melody. It is not in the mood to thank God or praise Him.

This verse comes up in us when the Holy Spirit takes precedence in our actions. And in order for this to happen, we have to give Him priority.

We have to put our emotions aside, and anything else that is trying to keep us in the wrong mood.

Our light will not shine through mood swings. But as we let our Helper, the Holy Spirit, not only live in us, but move within us, then God will be glorified!

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-19

John 6:26 (NKJV) 26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

Jesus never beat around the bush. When He had something to say, He would say it, regardless of who He had to say it to, or whether it might offend someone.

Prior to speaking the words above, He had miraculously fed a large crowd of people with just a few morsels of food. And after doing so, He had departed.

The following day, the people found Him in another area and began asking Him questions.

Jesus, knowing their hearts and their intentions, spoke to them directly, admonishing them because they sought Him solely because He had fed them fish and bread. Their natural hunger had been satisfied.

As He did so often, He went on to urge them not to seek the things that satisfy our bodies, but that feed our spirits.

John 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

This is something that each of us should remember, too.

The world we live in revolves around material possessions and satisfying the flesh. But as followers of Christ, it’s important that we not let ourselves get caught up in this thinking, but learning, instead, to let God show us how to live by His Spirit.

In this we will learn to labor for the food that endures to everlasting life, which Jesus promised to give us, if we seek it.

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 … I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-9-19

Colossians 3:2 (NKJV) 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Life here on earth can surely consume us if we’re not careful.

As humans, our emotions can run the show if we let them. They tell us how to feel, how to interact with others, what to do and when to do it.

This can cause all kinds of things to happen in our lives that don’t need to happen. This might even cause us to go through unnecessary trials.

God wants us to set our minds on the things above, not on things here on earth. This might seem like a pretty tall order at first. After all, we do live here on earth, so how are we supposed to keep our minds on things above?

We learn to live and walk by the Spirit!

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

This doesn’t mean that we simply abandon everything and everyone here on earth. It means that we put God first in everything, learning to listen for His spirit to guide us and show us what’s truly important and what’s not.

It means that we learn to discern things by His spirit. We learn to see things through His eyes.

And it means that we don’t let the things of this world capture our hearts, pulling us away from God.

Remember, we don’t live only by what we see!

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-19

Romans 8:6 (NKJV) 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Our goal as believers is to walk with God and live our lives in a way that’s pleasing to Him.

We can’t do that very well if we think and live carnally. We have to be spiritually minded.

Being spiritually minded changes us. It changes the way we think. And it changes the way we act.

Because of these changes, our lives take an entirely different path than if we simply lived them doing whatever we felt like doing.

But the biggest thing to take note of in these verses is the last part; to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

That short little piece of scripture holds the key that unlocks the answers to so many of the questions we have about life. It tells us plainly that to live spiritually minded is life, and it is peace.

If we truly want life, and we truly want peace, it is necessary that we set aside our carnal ways and let God teach us His ways, learning to live spiritually minded.

It’s worth every bit of time and effort it requires to learn to live this way. And God is faithful to help us get there, if we are just willing to make the effort.

Trust us when we tell you that there is nothing like it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-19

Romans 8:5 (NKJV) 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Our minds can be funny things. We think, we ponder, we rationalize and we try our best to figure everything out.

Our spirits, on the other hand, learn to look to God to help us sort things out.

Our spirits develop an understanding that sometimes things don’t have to make sense to our minds in order for everything to be alright.

Intellect is God-given. So it’s not a case of God not wanting us to think or reason. He does want us to do both of those.

But, as we learn and grow as a believer, and our spirit grows, we will develop a new understanding of things that goes beyond what our minds can comprehend. This will allow us to move in ways that transcend natural understanding and logic.

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

We will begin to understand God better, spending less time questioning Him and His ways, and more time looking forward to what He will do in our lives, on His terms.

Then we will truly begin to comprehend that peace that surpasses all understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-19

Galatians 5:25 (NKJV) 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

The things we do outwardly are an expression of our inward faith.

Everything we do in the natural is driven by what’s inside us. Our spiritual condition is displayed by our actions.

Sometimes we don’t like to think about this, but we get reminded every once in a while, when we catch ourselves doing or saying something that we know isn’t pleasing to God.

This can be a huge wakeup call for us.

As believers, there are many things that we can do to show our faith outwardly. Some of this involves the faith that we have in God. This is displayed by our level of trust in Him.

Our trust in Him will be displayed, or not displayed, by how we react to the situations and circumstances we encounter in our lives. The flesh will react by being fearful and anxious, whereas faith will react by looking to God and seeking answers from Him, patiently waiting, even when it may feel like the world is falling down around us.

When we act in faith, we may still have some fears, but we won’t let them rule us or cause us to run in fear from the things we face.

Our walk with God is also displayed outwardly by our character, our personal integrity, and our morals.

Do we stand strong in our morals, even when it means facing ridicule from others? Do we behave with integrity when nobody is watching us? These are great tests for us!

We can also display our faith in how we treat others. Do we love those around us, or do we treat them miserably? Do we help when we see a need, or do we pretend we didn’t see anything and keep on with what we were already doing?

None of us is perfect in any of these, and none of us ever will be. But as members of the body of Christ, it’s very important that we let God lead us by His Spirit each and every day, so the things we do will represent Him in a way that He finds pleasing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-24-18

James 1:21 (NKJV) 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

As frail human beings we constantly battle our flesh and its desire to sin.

God doesn’t expect us to be perfect and sinless. But He does expect us to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh. It is only by His spirit that we can live in a way that’s pleasing to Him.

And if we truly want to live, and not just exist, we need to put to death the deeds of the body.

Romans 8:13 (NKJV) 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

It’s not a battle that’s easily won. And if we try to win it by our own strength, we will fail every single time. But God has not called us to fight this battle and win it on our own. He has given us every tool and every weapon needed to fight and win!

We have His word, the sword. And we have His spirit, our helper. The important thing is that we utilize all of the tools that He has supplied us with, so we don’t just exist, but thrive in Him and live each day to its fullest.

Does this mean that every day will be perfect? Far from it. We will have days when we feel like we have failed for the thousandth time, falling so short of the mark. And we will have days when we feel like we can’t take one more step, let alone fight another battle.

But if we let Him lead us and we count on His strength, instead of our own, we will absolutely always be way ahead of where we would be if we tried to do it on our own.

So, we want to encourage you today not to give up. Don’t grow weary in the battle. We have His promise that if we don’t give up, in due season we will reap a harvest.

Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
