Bible Verse of The Day – 9-29-23

John 15:18-19 (NKJV) 18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Men and women of God have not been very well liked over the centuries.

That is not something that makes us feel particularly good, but it is a truth we must embrace.

Jesus warned us that if we are His followers, we would be hated by the world.

But look at what else Jesus said.

John 15:9-10 (NKJV) 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

As the Father loved Him (Jesus), He also loves us.

Jesus instructs that we must abide in His love.

What does that mean?

He goes on to tell us that if we keep His commandments, we are abiding in His love.

What commandment is He referring to?

John 15:12 (NKJV) 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

We must love one another.

The love of God overrides any hatred that the world can dish out. His love is more powerful than any worldly force, and we must remember that.

As we learn to walk in love for one another, God’s love will overflow in us and onto others.

And what is the result of this?

His joy will be full in us!

John 15:11 (NKJV) 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

Jesus did not speak of the world’s hatred toward us to scare or discourage us.

He wanted us to be warned and fully equipped, ready to handle whatever might come our way.

And these warnings do just that; prepare us and equip us.

Let us move forward, learning to walk in His love, that our joy may be full.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-22

John 15:20 (NKJV) 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

As children of God, there will be times when we feel like we don’t belong.

We will be ignored or shunned.

We will hear things spoken to us or about us that hurt.

We will lose out on things that we were seeking or pursuing.

And we may face various kinds of verbal or even physical persecution.

All because we are followers of Christ.

None of these things are pleasant. Some are very uncomfortable. And some can be downright brutal, both emotionally and physically.

For some of us, this might be a regular part of our daily life. Much of this can depend on where we live or how outspoken we are about our faith.

Other times, it can depend on how we live out our faith.

Living out or walking out our faith will typically draw attention to the fact that we’re not like the rest of the world. We don’t live out our faith for that reason (to get attention). But when we live differently than those around us, it will draw attention, whether we like it or not.

Why does this happen? Usually because the choices we make are not the same as the choices made by those who are not children of God (followers of Christ). So, because we choose differently, we stand out.

Persecution of any kind can be frustrating. If the persecution is extreme, it can be life-altering. And for some it may even mean that it is life-ending.

These are never pleasant things to discuss, and surely not pleasant to go through.

But know this; Jesus was persecuted for you and for me, and He told us that if we belonged to Him, we would be subjected to the same thing.

So, if I go through trials and tribulations for the sake of His name, I count it a blessing, and I will lean On God to bring me through it.

James 1:2 (NKJV) 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials…

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-1-20

John 15:18-19 (NKJV) 18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

It should come as no surprise when the world hates us because of our faith.

We do, after all, stand against almost everything the world stands for.

Furthermore, just our presence brings conviction to many, even if we speak no words. Their actions bring guilt when they see us because they know we carry the presence of Christ with us.

Sometimes being disliked or hated by people can be tough to take. It’s hurtful. It makes us feel like outcasts.

But it’s what Jesus said would happen.

John 15:20 (NKJV) 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

Because He was persecuted and hated, we should also expect to be persecuted and hated because of Him.

On the brighter side, though, take a look at that last sentence: If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

What does that mean?

It means that there will be some who, because they would have accepted His words, will also accept ours, when we share the truth with them.

So, even though the world is full of darkness, there will be bright spots among the darkness.

There is hope!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-20

Psalm 31:15 (NKJV) 15 My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me.

Do we feel like we have been persecuted by people that can’t stand us, even though we never did a thing to them?

Yet, they have an agenda to make us miserable. They would love to see us fall, fail and be totally miserable, just like them. They would love to see us lose everything we ever worked hard for.

As a matter a fact, they probably would love to have what we have, but they won’t ever say it or admit.

The good news is this; God will deliver us from their hands.

He will keep us safe. They will not overpower us or take from us what God has blessed us with. They will try, but God is greater and will deliver us from their hands.

Don’t let our guard down. Know who our persecutors are, walking in wisdom and discernment when we are around them.

It’s hard to know what their agenda is at times, but God will show us the root of it and how to shut it down as He gives us His wisdom.

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-24-12

(Mat 10:36 NKJV)  “and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’

Are we going through family turmoil in our homes, within our church family, or in our work place, etc.? Well, don’t let it take you by surprise. God’s Word shows us that we don’t have to look very far to find enemies; they can be right in our own backyard.

It’s very hard when we have family members, close friends or co-workers that cause trouble for us, simply because they don’t agree with who we have chosen to be in Christ or how we choose to handle things.

It’s possible they are just plain jealous because good things are happening in our lives and they can’t handle it. But we can’t let them stop us from doing what is right and being all that Christ calls us to be.

We have to be alert, stand our ground, be who God has called us to be, and keep moving forward with love!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-28-12

(John 15:19 NKJV)  “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

This verse should answer a lot of our questions for us. For example; Why do we feel left out? Why do we get talked about? Why do people make up stories about us? Why do family members fight us? Why do we feel lonely at times? The answer is that we are in this world but we are not of this world.

Many times, you go somewhere and find that if you don’t fit in or agree with what the majority is doing or saying, all of a sudden no one wants to be around you. You are looked as the outcast. You are not part of their conversation any longer because you don’t agree with what is being said or done. You get shut down quickly.

Try not to let this bother you. Just remember that Matthew 5:10 says:  Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Just stick to doing and agreeing with what is right, no matter what we come against and what comes against us.  Stand your ground, for you shall be Blessed!!
