Category: Speaking The Truth

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-12-24

Ephesians 4:25 (NKJV) 25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.

The time comes when we may have to speak up and share the truth with someone that we never thought we would.

One day I was casually talking with an acquaintance.

As I was listening to them talk, they made a comment about where “we all” came from, and began talking about “our ancestors”, the apes.

Now, I usually am not the person to speak up quickly. I’m more of a hear-them-out type of person. But, when I was included in the, “we all”, I could not stay quiet.

So, in a non-threatening way, I claimed my belief and told her that is not where I came from. And by doing so, there was a clear understanding that I did not agree with her.

I really feel like sometimes as believers we can hold out on speaking the truth for fear of causing conflict or problems.

However, when we need to speak truth, we cannot worry or fret over these things that may happen. We just need to say it in love and move on.

Maybe things will be a little uncomfortable moving forward for us, but I’d rather share the truth than to not share it and then wish later that I had.

Ephesians 4:15 (NKJV) 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

The next time someone is speaking what we know to be a lie, we want to encourage you, it’s OK, as the Holy Spirit guides your lips, let truth flow and be made known.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-23

Acts 4:18-20 (NKJV) 18 So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

Truth. It is something that has come to mean less and less to many people.

Truth is sometimes shunned.

Truth is sometimes called evil when it offends a person or group of people.

Truth is sometimes banned when it brings to light the ill behavior or evil intentions of others.

Truth, when stood for, can often bring punishment or chastisement upon those who are bold enough to stand for it.

The threat of punishment or chastisement is frequently enough to cause people to withhold the truth and stay silent.

Fear will cause even the strongest people to shrink back at times.

But truth is worth standing for.

Paul and Silas stood for it. And it cost them (Acts 16:22-23).

Peter and John stood for it. And it cost them.

John the Baptist stood for it. And it cost him (Matthew 14:3).

The word of God is full of examples of people who stood for truth, even when it cost them greatly.

And truth is still worth standing for today, even if it costs us.

We need to recognize what might have happened if people in history lacked the courage or the fortitude to stand up and speak truth when God prompted them to do so.

All the disciples stood and spoke truth. Mighty prophets of God spoke truth. Many who we may never know about spoke truth.

Because of their willingness to stand, even when it was unpopular or dangerous to do so, God’s plans were carried out. And we were able to hear the truth that they proclaimed.

That truth has changed our lives and altered our destinies for eternity.

Let us also be bold and courageous, standing and speaking truth as God prompts us to do so.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-22

Acts 4:3 (NKJV) 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.

Peter and John were arrested and tossed into prison.

Paul was arrested numerous times and thrown into prison.

Silas was arrested with Paul and placed in the innermost parts of the prison to prevent them from escaping.

And this is just a small sampling of people of faith who were recorded in the Bible as being persecuted for their faith.

Ultimately, not only were the various apostles of Christ arrested and jailed, but that same faith cost them their lives, literally.

Why?

Because they spoke out boldly, causing people, many of whom were powerful and very influential, to become angry with the words they spoke.

You see, they spoke the truth. And they spoke it boldly.

Sometimes it was the truth of the gospel of Christ that angered people. Other times it was truth that was spoken regarding the actions and behaviors of people that caused people to hate them and want them arrested or dead.

They were not silent. They were not fearful of man or the consequences of their words of truth.

They were seen as a threat to the lifestyles of those people whom they offended with their words.

How about us?

Are we a threat to anyone’s lifestyle? Do we speak truth that may occasionally offend people?

Or are we hesitant to rock the boat, afraid of what people might think of us, or afraid of what it might cost us to stand for what we believe?

Our redemption came at a great price. It wasn’t free. Jesus paid for it, for every last one of us, with His life.

Let us each allow the Holy Spirit to embolden us, to speak truth (with love) as He leads us to do so, without fear of what it might cost us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-6-22

Mark 16:15 (NKJV) 15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

I believe that Christians have something to say and that we need to say it.

When God gives us the opportune time, when the door opens, we need to open our mouths and say what the word of God has put in our hearts.

His word is always alive and breathing in us. It’s a “Rhema word” when spoken in its moment, hour or season, and will bring much healing, deliverance, wisdom and strength. Praise God!

What happened to this “preaching” the gospel? Where does it stand today?

Are we, the church, afraid?

Are we worried that people are going to look at us funny when they hear the words we have to say?

Do we fear losing friends when we share the truth?

Does this cause us to second guess ourselves?

Are we nervous, so we hold back “the gospel” that can bring truth and set people free?

We are in a world full of people who are living lives of gross profanity, fornication, and adultery. They bought the “lie” and think it’s OK! They don’t know Jesus, God or the Holy Spirit.

We’ve been called to preach truth. We are supposed to give these beautiful gifts to them; the truth that will set them free!

Has this verse been watered down in us?

Have we been taught to be so careful of people’s feelings that we walk on pins and needles, and that even the word and the preaching of it has become old school?

Sisters and brothers in Christ, God’s word says, “Preach it to all creation”, leaving no one out. Let us be diligent to do so.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-21

John 3:13 (NKJV) 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

This particular verse is very interesting if we look at it closely.

Over the last 20 years or so, we have heard many stories of people going to heaven and returning to share their experience and insights.

Some of these people were adults. Some were children.

Whatever or whoever they were, this verse dispels their story rather quickly.

According to Jesus, no one (but Him) has bodily (physically) ascended to heaven and returned to tell about it.

So, if it comes down to having to choose between believing the story of another human, or believing the words of Jesus, it’s safe to say that the words of Jesus hold much more weight than the words of anyone else.

Now, this is not to throw stones at anyone. It is, rather, to promote truth and show lies for what they are. Anything that directly contradicts God’s word is only one thing; a lie.

You see, this is where God’s word comes in to lead us, guide us, show us truth and expose lies. And this is why it’s so important for us to spend time in His word, learning it and gaining understanding of it, by His Spirit.

Let’s not chase stories that make us feel good. Let’s unapologetically, passionately and relentlessly pursue God alone.

If we do this, and use His word as our guide, we will never fall for lies and we can never go wrong.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-4-20

Proverbs 10:21 (NKJV) 21 The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.

Do we ever wonder why some of the things we say aren’t taken seriously by those who hear them? Or maybe they hear them and get angry with us and cut us off.

The truth can sometimes hurt or sting, and bring conviction. But we must speak what God puts in our hearts. Of course, doing so in His timing and with the right tone can make a huge difference.

God’s word spoken from our hearts will feed many. The question is whether they will swallow it or spit it out. That is not for us to worry about, though. We just need to keep on feeding.God will do the rest.

Sometimes we will feel God moving in the things we are saying. But looking at the person we are speaking to, they appear to be oblivious to what we are saying or referring to.

We can’t let this distract us. We need to pray that, in time, as they ponder on those words, they will take root.

The seed was sown and planted. That’s what’s important. Now may it be watered. Keep saying what God puts on our tongues. It’s not for us to worry about the outcome of it.

He knows what He is doing, and if we continue to obey His promptings, the words that come out of our mouths will feed many, and many will take it to heart.

Don’t give up just because some seem to have refused what we have shared. Press on.

Keep on speaking it in love.

It’s so very important we keep on with a heart of expectancy and share the things God has taught us personally through His word.

Acts 4:20 (NKJV) 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

Go, brother and sister. Be ready. The things you have to share are necessary, in God’s timing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-14

Exodus 4:12 (NKJV) 12 Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

Have you ever been afraid to say something you know needs to be said?

I have, many times. Sometimes I am so scared, I would literally feel my heart start thumping and/or my legs start to tremble.

In spite of my fear of speaking out at times, I have learned that if it is something God wants us to say or do, we need to take the step, afraid or not, and God will be with us and teach us what to say.

Sometimes when we speak out, it may seem like we should have held our tongue and kept silent, because of the reaction we get. But if it was truly of God, He will work it all out in His timing.

With His wisdom, it will all be good! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-25-14

(Galatians 4:16 NKJV) Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

Have we ever had this happen when telling someone the truth? Are we now enemies because we spoke up and told them how we felt, only to protect them or out of concern?

Sometimes this happens when we speak the truth. People may take it the wrong way or maybe they just don’t want to hear the truth and it causes them to get so upset that they want nothing to do with us afterwards.

If this has happened to us at any time in our lives, the worst thing we can do is stop living. In other words, we can’t let what other people think of us rule our lives and dictate to us, accusing us of doing something wrong. Don’t let it hang over our heads like a dark cloud.

We spoke the truth, and if that caused them to think that we are their enemy then that’s what they think. But we need to continue to love them and pray for them. God is faithful to turn things around. In His time, He makes all things beautiful.

Don’t stop living…have fun! Enjoy life! Sometimes we have to speak the truth when the door is open and it may be that whoever we have to speak it to will turn on us. We can’t control that.

All we can do is our part and then keep on living and keep on loving and trust God to work everything else out!
