Category: Being Obedient

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-22

Psalm 37:23-24 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.

To know that God will still uphold us with His hand when we make mistakes brings great comfort. He is a forgiving God, our salvation!

This does not, however, mean that we should continue to make wrong choices on purpose, knowing that He will forgive and help us get out of our bind.

If we know what we are about to do is wrong and we do it anyway, that is plain old rebellion, not a mistake.

That is being hard-hearted, stubborn and unwilling to change. That is taking a chance. And eventually, if we do this enough, it will destroy our relationship with God.

Philippians 2:12 (NKJV) 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling…

Obedience is what pleases our Father. We should always be  moving and pushing ourselves to do the right thing in any given situation.

He is watching our hearts, where our actions will come from.

This is where the steps of a good man or woman come from. And though we may fall at times, it won’t be on purpose, but a sincere mistake.

Usually when this happens, it’s because of our weakness in a specific area. This is where God will help us if we go to Him humbly and ask.

He will bring changes to help us become stronger in that area.

God will uphold us as we sincerely obey Him. He is our strength!

Exodus 15:2 (NKJV) 2 The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-11-21

Ephesians 6:1 (NKJV) 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

There are always some kinds of consequences for our disobedience, whether as a child or an adult.

I remember as a child, my brothers and I wanted to go swimming so badly. Our neighbors had a pool, and we were friends with their son.

We convinced the son to let us use the pool, despite knowing that we weren’t allowed to do so if the parents weren’t home.

We didn’t care. It was hot that day, and our only thought was that swimming would cool us down.

Well, as we were having a good time in the pool, the mother came home from work early. And guess what. We were nabbed.

The consequences were something like this; no more pool, ever again.

We lost all our privileges because of that one time. As kids that was devastating. But we did know better.

Realizing our error and receiving the punishment, knowing it was our own faults, was what we walked away with. And we learned from it.

It was painful, especially on those hot summer days.

Life can teach us valuable lessons if we pay attention.

Are you living in your consequences? Is it painful?

Take the good from it and learn whatever it is you need to remember.

If it’s to obey authority, do it. If it is to obey God Himself, maybe He has been telling us not to be involved in certain things.

Listen and walk away from it before consequences hit.
