Bible Verse of The Day – 9-4-26

Matthew 11:28 (LSB) 28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

Are you weary?

Are you burdened with things that are heavy?

Do you feel like you have more questions than answers?

Are the worries of this world bringing you down?

I’d like to remind you today; I know Someone.

You probably know Him too.

His name is Jesus.

He came to take your sins, your burdens, your cares, and carry them for you.

He bore your sins on the cross.

He was beaten for our transgressions.

He was bruised for our iniquities.

And not once did He complain.

In fact, He did it all willingly. He laid His life down for you, and for me, voluntarily.

And He wants you and I to remember this fact. He wants us to go to Him with our burdens, our cares, and our concerns.

And He wants us to allow Him to hand them off to Him so He can set us free once and for all.

It’s not hard.

In fact, the hardest part is allowing Him to convince us to let these things go and let Him take them.

But that is exactly what we must do; give them to Him.

Psalm 55:22 (NKJV) 22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-11-25

John 14:1 (NKJV) 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Jesus came in human form, not in power and might, but in meekness and humility.

He was all God, yet all man, that He might show us His compassion.

Jesus did not live in a castle or mansion. In fact, He said He had no place to lay His head.

Matthew 8:20 (NKJV) 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Jesus did not do signs and wonders to show that He could dominate.

He did signs and wonders to show God’s love to humanity.

Jesus did not spend time with the rich and powerful, looking to gain favor with them.

He spent time with sinners; liars, thieves, and adulterers, that His words might lead them to repentance.

Jesus did not use His authority to overthrow kingdoms.

He practiced love and compassion to bring the kingdom of God to earth.

Jesus did not use His intimate knowledge of people’s hearts to shame them.

He used it to cause them to repent and seek forgiveness.

Jesus did not defend Himself when questioned by Pilate.

He used that moment to speak truth to Pilate, telling him that he only had whatever authority had been given to him by God.

And Jesus did not use His great power to escape the beatings and the cruel punishment He endured on the cross.

He humbly, willingly laid down His life for the entirety of humanity, demonstrating God’s incredible, unfathomable love for you and for me, that we might have the opportunity to embrace the gift of God’s mercy and gain eternal life with God.

If you are troubled today, consider the greatness of these things and what God has done for you.

Ponder His great love, compassion, and mercy over your own life, and where you would be without Him.

Thank Him and give Him praise for His faithfulness. And then lay your troubles at His feet and surrender it all to Him.

He can handle it much better than we can.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-4-23

Psalm 44:21 (NKJV) 21 Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

We never know what goes on behind closed doors. We never know what people are going through inside.

Even within our own hearts, we may be hurting or struggling and have never told a sole what burdens we carry.

It may have weighed us down for years.

Are we tired of carrying this weight?

It’s time to let out the secrets. It’s time to get free from being in prison to ourselves and our unspoken burdens.

It’s OK to share what we have endured; God already knows.

If we remain in this hidden state, the burden of the secret will just grow heavier each day and each year that goes by. And it can eat us up from the inside, out.

God sees it all and He can help us get free.

What goes on behind your closed door? How do you feel when no one else can see you?

When you lay in bed at night, what taunts you?

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Let the truth be told; no more secrets.

Live a life free of the things that taunt you, and rest easy.

Amen.
