Bible Verse of The Day – 8-10-22

Romans 12:1 (NKJV) 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Living holy lives is a very important part of our walk with God.

Many may think that because we live under God’s grace, there is no need for holy, righteous living. This could not be further from the truth.

Others may even say that because Jesus was so loving and kind, and because He spent time hanging out with sinners, we don’t need to worry about holy living.

Again, this is not truth.

Take note than when Jesus spent time with sinners, He spoke truth to them, encouraging them to get their hearts right with God.

In John 8:11, when He spoke with the woman caught in adultery, He told her to “go and sin no more”.

Some of the original texts actually said, “go, and from now on, sin no more”.

And if we compare various translations, many of them indicate that Jesus was inferring that she needed to leave her life of sin.

So, He made it clear to her that she needed to leave her sin behind and do what is right in God’s eyes.

And this applies to us as well.

Paul used the word, beseech. That’s a very strong word, meaning to plead, to implore, to ask urgently, or to beg.

Based on that, it’s evident that Paul wanted badly for the Roman Christians to leave their lives of sin behind.

Paul was referring here mainly to sexual sins, since Rome was well-known for this. But we need to apply this to every aspect of our lives.

And I like what Paul said about our lives; presenting them as living sacrifices. In other words, we need to give our bodies to God. Dedicate them to Him.

Doing this will cause us to take the choices we make much more seriously, since we are now living as though we do not belong to ourselves, but to Him.

1 Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV) 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

We have been bought. We are not our own. Let’s be careful to live like we are His.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-2-21

Part 2

1 Peter 3:18 (NKJV) 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit…

Yesterday we discussed the fact that Jesus dying once, for all of us, eliminated the need for constant sacrifices to atone for our sins. His death covered them all, for eternity.

Today, let’s see what else we can learn from this powerful verse.

Immediately after telling us that Christ suffered (died) once for our sins, we are told that His life, which was just (pure), was given for us, the unjust (the impure).

This is much deeper than our human minds can truly grasp.

Yes, we may get the concept of it. But we will never be able to truly understand it in its deepest depths.

Our sins make us filthy before God. He cannot even look upon us because of those sins.

The prophet Isaiah said (in Isaiah 64:6) that “all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags”.

In other words, there is absolutely no righteous act that we can perform that will remove the stain of our sins. Not even a perpetually righteous lifestyle can make us clean before God.

With Christ, however, because He traded Himself (the just) for us (the unjust), we are given the opportunity to be made clean (righteous) by simply embracing Him (putting our faith in Him).

The moment we do that, we become clean in God’s sight. We are made whole and pure, with the stains of our sins washed away; gone forever.

Think about that; the just for the unjust.

Again, this is more than our minds can truly comprehend.

Let’s ponder on this for a while, and then we can talk more about it tomorrow.

Stay tuned…

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-21 – Blameless

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ!

Job was a man who went through some pretty difficult trials, despite living a righteous life and being called an upright man by God Himself.

There are so many lessons we can learn from the book of Job and the things that he faced.

In our newest video, Blameless, we teach on a couple of those things, dealing specifically with righteousness through Christ vs. living a righteous lifestyle, and how they vastly different from each other.

We think you’ll enjoy it, so we hope you’ll give it a watch.

Enjoy your day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-19-18

Romans 4:5 (NKJV) 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness…

Our good works do not make us righteous in God’s eyes. It doesn’t happen that way.

Some types of religious organizations may promote good works as a way to obtain righteousness. But, righteousness in God’s eyes comes through having faith and believing in who Jesus says He is, and what He did for each one of us.

When we give our life over and surrender it up to Him, that faith that we have in Him is accounted for righteousness.

This is all made possible by the blood of Christ. His shed blood washed away our sins and made it possible for God to look upon us as righteous and cleansed; spotless.

We can’t get this by our good works or good deeds. It’s by faith and faith alone.

Do we believe on Him, Jesus Christ, who justifies the ungodly? Do we trust Him as our Redeemer, Healer and Provider? If so, then our faith is accounted for righteousness!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-27-16

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

We become the righteousness of God in Him.

That’s a pretty heavy statement. It embodies a lot more than the words on a page can even begin to imply. Let’s take a closer look.

First, what is righteousness? What does it mean to be righteous?

Webster’s dictionary defines it this way:

righteous: acting in accord with divine or moral law: free from guilt or sin

Take note of the last part of that definition, free from guilt or sin. Now that’s a big deal right there.

Neither you nor I can ever be free from guilt or sin on our own power or by our own will. It’s impossible. But, by the blood of Jesus, we are made righteous when we put our faith in Him.

It’s so very simple, yet so very complicated at the same time. And though our heads can grasp it (a little), we will never be able to fully understand or comprehend it. Despite that, though, just know that through the obedience and sacrifice of Jesus, a way was made for us to be washed clean from our sins.

How? By putting our faith in that very One, Jesus, and the gift that He offers us: Salvation.

So know that no matter who you are or what you might have done in your past, if you have put your faith and trust in Jesus and the sacrifice that He made, you have been made righteous in Him.

By the blood of Jesus, you are pure and spotless in God’s eyes!

Romans 5:19 (NKJV) 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-15

Romans 3:9-10 (NKJV) 9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. 10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

There isn’t a single one of us who has anything to offer God.

We are all impure, stained by our sin and guilty of more than we could ever even hope to repay or compensate for by our own righteousness.

Our righteous acts, apart from Christ, are nothing. They are like dust that blows in the wind and disappears, leaving nothing behind but traces of dirt.

Isaiah 64:6 (NKJV) 6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;

But get this; God loved us so much that He overlooked our sinful state and created a way for us to have fellowship with Him!

Through the blood of Jesus, God sees as us fit to come before Him and talk to Him, fellowship with Him and make our requests known to Him.

The holiness of God and the desperately-fallen state of man are two things that our minds can never fully comprehend. We can see bits of pieces of how badly the human race has fallen, but we will never truly understand the depth of it.

We can see glimpses and bits & pieces of God’s holiness, but we will never be able to truly grasp His holiness.

In our fallen state, we could not stand in His presence. It would be literally impossible for us to do so and live.

But through the blood of Jesus, we can approach Him boldly, without fear, and not worry about losing our life because of it.

Thank you, Father, for your provision and your grace over our lives!

Let’s thank Him today for making a way for us, bridging the gap between us and Him, removing the barriers of sin, through Jesus, once and for all.

He is worthy to be praised and adored!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-7-12

(Mat 5:8 NKJV)  Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

The pure in heart…what does that mean? How do we become “pure in heart” in God’s eyes?

There are two aspects to this. There is the spiritual side, the things that aren’t tangible. And there is the natural side, the things that are tangible.

I will try to keep this brief, so please bear with me as we walk through this together.

When we become followers of Christ, when we accept Him in faith as our savior, we become pure in heart (in a spiritual sense) simply because we’re washed in the blood of Jesus.

But in the natural, we can still be very impure in our hearts. This is where we need God to help us clean ourselves up. This is where it takes God’s spirit, God’s teaching and God’s correction to help us see the things in our lives that need to be changed, so we become pure in heart in a natural sense.

So what does this mean, and how do we do it?

We do it one little step at a time! It starts with little things, like maybe watching what comes out of our mouths. God helps us clean up our language and the way we talk. This would include things like swearing, gossiping, etc.

Then He might show us something else that He wants to help us with, like the things that we take in with our eyes and our ears. Movies, TV & Music play a huge part in our lives these days. TV and movies are no longer family-friendly and most of it isn’t God-friendly.

I know these are touchy subjects with a lot of people, but the impact that these things have on our lives is incredibly huge. And many of us don’t fully realize how big the impact is. We also don’t realize what we’re subjecting ourselves to.

Now think about this and take this very seriously, because it’s vital to us becoming pure in heart! If we have accepted Christ as our savior, this means that we have the Holy Spirit (God’s Spirit) living in us. He is with us everywhere we go. He sees everything we see and He hears everything we hear.

So we need to understand fully that if we watch a movie or a TV show with immoral images, we’re subjecting God to this. If we hear or listen to things in a movie, a TV show or in music that are contrary to God’s word or are not pleasing to God, we are subjecting God to it too.

Once we really start to get understanding in this, and we truly want to please God, we will start being more careful about what we watch and what we listen to.

Now don’t take this wrong. We are not saying that Christians shouldn’t watch movies or listen to music artists that aren’t Christians, but it does mean that we need to use discernment and let God guide us when it comes to what we choose to watch or listen to.

Our choices in these areas will go a very long way toward helping us to become pure in heart, even in the natural!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-12

(2 Cor 5:21 NKJV)  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Have you ever thought of yourself of “the righteousness of God”?

I’m sure that most of the time, we feel like anything but the righteousness of God. We each do so many things throughout the course of a single day that leave us feeling far from being righteous.

In and of ourselves we are very far from righteousness. We are, in the truest sense, filthy with sin. We have all fallen so short of God’s glory and His desires for us.

But don’t despair because He has made a way to fix that!!

Jesus took our place on the cross, dying in our place, as a sacrifice for our sins. His death and resurrection paid the price, IN FULL. We are spotless before God if we’re under the blood of Jesus.

You see, if we have accepted the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on a personal level, believing that He died for our sins, we are no longer filthy in the eyes of God. We are His righteousness!!

We have been washed clean and we stand spotless before Him. Yes, we can fall down and get dirty. But because of the blood of Jesus, that dirt washes right off.

We want you to know today, right this very minute, that there is nothing that you have done that is too big for God to handle or forgive you for. We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ.

Rest in God’s peace, knowing that He created a way for us to be spotless before Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-4-12

(Mat 5:8 NKJV)  Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

How do we get pure in our hearts?  By receiving, believing and following Christ, and then repenting and turning from our ways of doing things and following His commandments.

Jesus’ blood cleanses us as we receive Him as our Lord and Savior. Do you know the song, “What can wash me white as SNOW, Nothing but the BLOOD of Jesus!!”?  That song says it all, it’s the blood of Jesus that has given us the freedom to go to God and have a relationship with Him. Thank God for Jesus and His blood that was so pure, so clean, and so perfect.

Reading God’s Word will allow us to get to know Him, the person that He is, the things He loves, the things He hates, and so forth.

As we allow God to cleanse us, and we work to keep the junk out on a daily basis, we will see more and more of God in our lives. (James 4:8) God wants to draw near to us…we just have to want to draw near to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-27-12

(2 Th 3:13 NKJV)  But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

Have you ever felt like you just want to stop trying… like it’s not worth the effort that it takes to do the right thing?

Let me encourage you today to never, ever give up doing the right thing. There are times when it feels like it’s harder to do right than to do wrong, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth the effort to do right.

Giving up is the easy way out. God doesn’t want us to take the easy way. He wants us to take the way that will give Him glory and make us stronger!

Today, as you fight your way through whatever battle comes your way, remember that nothing is gained by taking the easy way.

Anything worth obtaining has to be fought for. But when the battle is won, it makes the prize that much more valuable.
