Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-19

Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV) 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

Have we been through somethings that has made us hurt and angry?

One recent weekend I set off for the beach. It was going to be a hot, sunny and perfect beach day.

I left early, to beat the crowd. On my way there I hit traffic everywhere. Never did I see it as busy as it was this day. I kept telling myself I will get there and I will have a spot even if I have to sit in the water!

Normally I would just say forget it, and go another day. However, I could not turn back. Something in me was determined to get to the beach.

I knew I would eventually get there and enjoy the smell of the ocean salt and the feel of the sand between my toes, and it would be worth it all.

It is probably the one thing Pastor Curt and I don’t enjoy together. He says, “go and have fun!!”.

I finally made it there, and as I sat in my chair I sighed with relief.

Within a short time, I heard a woman speaking to me from behind. We got to talking, and she asked me to pull up my chair. She too was alone.

We began to share things about ourselves and I heard God ask me to ask her something. So I did. And as she explained to me about a particular situation, the tears came down her face. I was in awe at what God was doing. He was touching her heart right in front of me.

We spent hours talking and swimming like we had known each other forever. We shared our stories and we got to know each other. It was simply beautiful.

After hearing what this person had gone through, the thing I noticed was that there was not a stitch of anger or bitterness in her. She was strong, kindhearted and happy.

This showed me that we are the ones who choose how we react to the things that life throws at us, because this woman had every right to be one of those angry, hard, bitter people. But she was the opposite. It spoke volumes to me for the person she chose to be.

It was eventually time for me to leave and she walked with me as we made our way to our cars.

On our way I heard God say, “You need to pray with her”. So, I waited till we got closer to the vehicle and I said to her, “you shared quite a few things with me today. Would you mind if we prayed before I leave?” She got excited and said, “would you please?”.

So, right there in the parking lot, by her vehicle, God began moving through prayer. His presence was there, and when we were finished, God had touched her heart so deeply, that once again tears of joy flowed down her cheeks.

He was her friend through me that day. He knew what she needed and He provided it. I told her I may never see her again here at this beach, but today was divine and I will treasure it.

We hugged, told each other we love each other and said goodbye.

There is no room for anger and no room for bitterness, no matter what we have been through in this life.

God is there. He will bring healing whatever way He sees fit.

He will bring to us what we need to get past it, even if it’s a friend for a day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-19

Ephesians 4:26-27 (NKJV) 26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.

I’ve met a lot of people over the years.

Some I have met in passing, never to see them again. Others have come into my life for a season and then move on. Still others I have known for a very long time.

Of all the people I have encountered, there are some that have stood out to me. Various people stand out for various reasons. Some are truly kind. Others are funny. Some are generous.

On the other hand, some are complainers. Some are manipulators. Others are angry.

The people who are angry seem to wear their anger like a badge. They share their anger in almost everything they say and do. And it’s very sad, because it is eating them up, from the inside, out.

Some people are legitimately angry. They have something to be angry about. The problem comes when they refuse to let go of that anger. They carry it with them for years. Some people take it with them to their grave. And this is very sad.

Their lives are wasted holding grudges and being bitter. It poisons them and slowly kills them. They don’t know that they are dead. But that doesn’t change the fact that they are.

There are two people who stand out in my mind as being angry. One I have known for close to 20 years. He’s mad at the world. He’s mad at life. He has a lengthy list of reasons why he has a right to be angry. In reality, though, he has no more right to be perpetually angry than you or I. He just chooses to be so.

The other is a musician that I recently met. They are extremely talented. They have the potential to take their musical career very far, if only they will let go of their anger. Yes, they have been hurt by people who mistreated them for their personal gain. And, yes, they can write and sing about their experiences as a sort of outlet.

They can even use what they’ve been through to give glory to God, and they can help others who are going through similar struggles.

But they will ultimately need to lay their anger down and turn it over to God if they truly want to give Him glory.

What about us? Are we angry? Are we carrying it like a banner? Do we feel justified in our anger?

God is telling us to lay it down. Today. Right now.

It’s time to give it to Him and destroy the foothold that the devil has had in our life for so long because of it.

We implore you to do so and get free of the chains that anger has placed on you!

Do it today, in the name of Jesus. You will be so glad that you did.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-7-16

Proverbs 19:11 (NKJV) 11 The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.

Anger.

It can affect so many of us in one way or another.

We can have anger in us, or others around us can be angry. Either way, it can alter our direction, sway our emotions and change the outcome of any situation where it is present.

There are very few situations where anger is good or brings good results. In some cases, anger can be a driving force that brings sweeping, positive change to bad situations.

But in order for that to happen, anger should only be the catalyst that prompts someone to change something bad. The change itself, though, needs to be acted on with love, forgiveness and a genuine desire to help people.

Anger with no boundaries will only bring destruction and more anger, along with bitterness and hatred. It will create a never-ending cycle of destruction that will last for generations if left unchecked.

We, as God’s people, need to be able to learn to overlook transgressions, even when they seem terribly unjust, and let God show us how to react by His spirit, not by our own emotions.

Only then will we be able to see past our anger and make something good and positive come out of it.
