Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-19

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV) 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…

I’m a thinker. I think about everything. Sometimes my thoughts can cause me a lot of stress if I’m not careful.

Just today I was praying and I felt the Lord impressed on me not to do so much thinking. He wanted me to simply rest my mind. I said, “Lord, how do I do that?”.

As I went about my day, He would remind me and point out to me when I would start to think of things that I didn’t need to be thinking about. I had to be alert, watching out for my thoughts and where they would try to venture out. I would have to stop them and bring them back to where they needed to be.

Boy, what a difference it made. I felt light and clearer in my head. I wasn’t getting preoccupied and wasting time thinking about things that weren’t my concern. I actually had more time to enjoy the day and focus on the good things.

God taught me that when we spend time thinking about unnecessary things it can be a huge distraction, and it can actually clog up our communication with Him.

How many of us are thinkers?

Maybe we have even thought so much about things it robbed us of our joy. It can happen, and it will if we don’t get a handle on it.

We need to bring our thoughts into captivity. Our thoughts should not run the show.

Thinkers, give yourself a break by using your time to only think of the things that are of utmost importance to God.

Watch and see what happens. You will find yourself more free, happier and enjoying each day, pondering more on the good things of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-18

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

When our attitude has been tainted from things that have been said and done to us, how do we bring ourselves to meditate on these things?

Sometimes we just want to let loose, say what we want to say, tell everyone exactly what we’re thinking, and move on.

We may think this will bring us great satisfaction. But, I have experienced that the aftereffect of this kind of behavior is worse when we realize that what we just did or said disappointed our Father in Heaven.

It’s not worth it to let loose and throw away what God taught us; to pull back and wait on Him.

There is a person that frequently tries to catch me off guard. There is a particular subject that we should not discuss when we are together. Why? Because we disagree.

But, every so often they will bring it up, hoping I will change my opinion. It usually causes tension and hurt feelings. So, I have learned to simply let them say what they want and then not respond to it.

It is the hardest thing to do. I love this person dearly and don’t want any hard feelings between us. But there are times when they just don’t know when to stop.  Can anyone relate?

They know where I stand regarding this particular subject. I can’t and won’t force them to agree with me. And they should not do the same to me.

This verse is a good one to hold onto to. It will help us to remain strong in God in those tension-filled moments.

If we feel like we are going to let loose on someone, and we know it’s not going to be good, take this verse and run to a place where we can get quiet for just a few minutes and gain control.

Direct our focus onto that which is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of virtue, and praiseworthy. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-17

Matthew 11:29 (NKJV) 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Sometimes our minds are our worst enemy. We think about things that might happen and then our thoughts run away from us. And this causes us to worry about things that we have no control over.

Sometimes we can get caught up in our emotions. It’s easy to do. Unfortunately, that’s the worst thing we can do.

God created us to have emotions! It’s part of His design. But He doesn’t want us to let our emotions control us. And He doesn’t want us to live based on our emotions. If we do live that way, our lives will be like a rollercoaster, up one day and down the next, based on how we feel.

God wants us to learn to rely 100% on Him for everything we need each and every day. It takes time for us to learn this. It’s a lifelong learning process!

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

That’s why it’s critical that we spend time in His word. Because as it gets into us, we learn to rely on it and pull it up from within our spirit when we need it.

The Holy Spirit is faithful to remind us of the things we have studied and learned from His word, so it’s important that we know the Word and let it become a part of who we are.

Take one day at a time. Spend time in His word. Let it become a part of who we are. And as we grow and learn to depend on Him, our emotions will no longer control our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-15

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.

There are so many things that can occupy our thoughts.

We can spend so much time pondering and thinking about things; some good, and some not so good.

God wants us to spend our time thinking about, meditating on and pondering on the things that are good, virtuous, and pure.

As we do this, instead of thinking about all of the negative stuff in the world, it will help change our outlook on life and our view of our own situation.

It will also help boost our faith, as we feed on God’s words and cast off the words of the enemy.

God has good things for us. He doesn’t want us to spend our time focused on things that aren’t fruitful!

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

So let’s ditch the negative stuff and focus on the things and the thoughts of God and His word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-28-15

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Whenever something hard comes our way and we we’re not ready or prepared for it, we will see how fragile our life can really be. How quickly we can get tired out simply from the hit we took. The change that it brings can drain us, both emotionally and physically if we stay focused on it day and night.

We need to take control over our minds at times and say “NO! We are not going there, you are not in charge!”. We need to take control over our mind and our thoughts and force them to look, listen and hear what God is saying through His spirit.

A lot of times the mind speaks so loudly that we can’t hear or see what God is showing us.

God will speak to us in these hard moments. He will guide us and carry us through.

Listen and watch for Him. He is there.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

He is on the scene. PRAISE Him in the midst of your STORM today!! Amen.
