Category: Crucifying The Flesh

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-24

Proverbs 14:14 (NKJV) 14 The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above.

Oh boy, this scripture nails it.

When we want to do our own thing vs. what God wants us to do, it can be a real fight.

We think what we want to do is the answer for us, but, most times our own ways are wrong and harmful to us.

Doing things the way the world does them is usually what causes us to backslide.

Why? Because the world is usually trying to satisfy and please the flesh and its desires.

But God’s word tells us to crucify the flesh, not please it.

Galatians 5:24 (NKJV) 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we follow His direction, we will be satisfied!

If we choose to follow God, He will provide the way.

He has the right path for us, and He doesn’t mind sharing the insight if we are serious in wanting to know.

Do we want to be satisfied?

Then we need to turn from our sin, be remorseful. Be disciplined, and focus on doing what is right in the eyes of God.

Ezekiel 18:21 (NKJV) 21 “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

A good man will be satisfied from above. God is faithful!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-9-23

Romans 15:2 (NKJV) 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

Godliness prefers others. It puts others first and walks in humility. Godliness honors others and is sensitive to the feelings and cares of others.

Our flesh must be crucified if we want to walk out this “pleasing his neighbor” life style, requiring us to leave our old desires and passions behind.

Galatians 5:24 (NKJV)  And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

There should be a constant crucifying of our flesh as we grow and learn to serve others by putting ourselves aside.

Will we have days where we do not want to even try any longer? Yes. That’s normal.

The flesh loves to treat itself with comforts. It loves to have all the attention, and it would love to focus on itself.

The flesh will even cause us to think that we have the right to do whatever we want, when we want.

But, through Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, if we don’t give into the flesh, we will have what it takes to please those whom God has put in our path on any given day.

We will be able to say and do the right thing that will touch their heart and cause them to be grateful and know that only God knew what they needed in that hour.

May He be glorified through our pleasing others as He leads us to do so. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-13

(Galatians 5:24-25 NKJV)  And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. {25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Let’s take a look at what God’s word tells us to do with the flesh; He says to crucify it, meaning put to death or destroy the power of it.

God tells us what the flesh is all about here: (Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV) Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, {20} idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, {21} envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like.

This is what we operate in if we don’t take charge of the flesh. Do we ever wonder why we keep making the same mistakes over and over? Do we wonder why we say and do the same things that got us into trouble last time, after we told ourselves we would never do it or act that way again?

We apologize; we say we are sorry, but not long after that we are in the same boat, doing it again. It’s one thing to make mistakes; we all do. No one’s perfect, but we are talking about making the SAME mistakes repeatedly.

In order to stop this, we have to take steps towards crucifying our flesh. Like anything we have to change, it maybe uncomfortable at first. But if we are sincere in wanting to do what is right, we will adjust.

What may seem to be uncomfortable or even painful at first, will soon become pleasant as we see the fruit of it. And we may find ourselves thinking, wow, why didn’t I do this earlier in life?

God can and will give us the strength to go through it. We just have to be the ones to make the decision and take the first step and say “yes this is what I want”!

Crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit today.
