Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-18

Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV) 1 Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Don’t feel bad if you don’t know how everything is going to work out, or how you will get this done or that done. Learn to take things one day at a time.

Planning things well in advance is not always the best thing. Most times it puts a lot of unnecessary stress on us.

God doesn’t want us stressed out. Too much stress can lead to other illnesses.

How many of us are fighting to keep everything in perfect order, working hard to stick to a schedule or routine? It may be time to stop and relax.

If we could learn to just take life as it comes and not plan so far ahead, we would be more at peace. And we would be better able to handle whatever comes our way that we weren’t expecting.

We need to be ready to change the way we do things, leading to a less stressful life. God is faithful to help us learn how to move today, in the here and now. That is good enough for Him.

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-17

John 5:7-9 (NKJV) 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked…

This particular lame man had been laying next to a pool of water where people were being healed regularly. An angel would come down and stir the water, and the first person into the water after it was stirred was healed.

This man had been lame for 38 years and longed to be able to be healed and walk again. But he had nobody to help him into the water when it was stirred.

When Jesus asked him if he wanted to be healed, he explained his predicament to Him and expressed his disappointment.

But the problem with his thinking is that he only expected God to heal him in one way; the way that he had seen others be healed. His mind was closed to other options until Jesus suggested otherwise and healed him there on the spot.

There’s an important lesson in this for all of us. We need to know and understand that God does what He knows is best. And it won’t always be the way we expect it or the way we’re used to seeing it done.

This holds true in our personal lives, in the body of Christ as a whole and in the local church bodies. So many of the things we do as part of our walk with God are done because we’ve done them that way before. Or maybe we’ve seen someone else do it that way. It’s part of being creatures of habit.

But God wants to break that. He wants us to have a fresh, vibrant relationship with Him that’s alive! He doesn’t want us to depend solely on our pre-existing knowledge or on our past experiences in order to commune with Him and see Him move in our lives.

Just as the lame man in the verses above learned that God moves in more than one way, let us also learn this and apply it in our own lives on a daily basis.

Rise, take up your bed and walk!
