Category: Being Diligent With What We Have

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-12-18

Proverbs 13:4 (NKJV) 4 The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Diligence is a big deal with God. He wants us to be diligent in all we do, from the smallest thing to the biggest thing.

God says that if we are diligent, our souls will be made rich. Did you notice the difference between what God says and what some others say?

Many people, including some in the church, will tell us that if we are diligent, we will become wealthy with material things. God says our soul will be made rich.

It’s important that we pay attention to this. Why? Because if our soul is rich, then and only then can we properly handle material wealth.

With material wealth there also comes a big responsibility. Most of us aren’t ready for material wealth when we think we are. And if we’re not careful, material wealth will ruin us in a hurry.

Sure, it makes some things a lot easier. But it can lead us into many, many snares if we don’t know how to properly handle it.

Let’s learn to become diligent, so our souls will prosper, before we worry about prospering with our finances.

Then, as we continue to be diligent, as God makes our soul prosper, so will He also help us to prosper financially, as He sees that we can handle it properly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-22-14

Matthew 25:23 (NKJV) 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

So many of us wrestle with this. The problem is that we don’t know we’re wrestling with it. Let me explain.

Most of us ask God for more; more money, more friends, a better job, a bigger house, better relationships, etc. We all do this at one time or another. And I would dare to say that some of us do this every day.

This, in and of itself, isn’t necessarily wrong, but we need to understand one important thing. If we aren’t diligent with what we already have, we can’t handle anything bigger than that. And as long as we can’t handle it, we’re really not justified in asking for more, no matter what it is.

God wants us to learn how to handle what we have so that when we do get more, we won’t destroy it or destroy ourselves. All too often people push and push until they get what it is they’re seeking, and because they weren’t ready for the increase, it doesn’t last.

Money gets spent foolishly. Relationships are handled carelessly and fall apart. Material possessions aren’t cared for and become in a state of disrepair. A new job comes to us and we act irresponsibly, behaving poorly and getting fired or earning a bad reputation. In the end, it’s all wasted.

But if we show ourselves diligent with what we already have, then God can see fit to give us more, knowing that we will act responsibly and handle it properly, giving it the care it deserves.

It all starts with the little things.
