Bible Verse of The Day – 2-11-21

Galatians 6:1 (NKJV) 1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

One of the best things we can do when we see someone in trouble is pray for them 1st.

That’s right; talk to God.

Unless He is telling us to speak up, we should observe the situation, but hold back until He tells us specifically to say something.

Sometimes we do it backwards. We make the mistake of talking to them first, out of concern, and it doesn’t end up very good. Many times it ends up in a heated argument or sore feelings towards each other.

Knowing exactly how to help someone can be hard and frustrating. We may think we are doing the right thing only to realize it wasn’t quite right for that particular time or person.

But the good intentions are there and most will see that.

I have had to learn over time that God knows best, even when something similar may have worked before.

Wait on His guidance in helping restore one in a spirit of gentleness. Don’t ever approach someone when we are fuming mad and upset.

Give it some time to cool down. Pull it together and pray first. Our words and attitude have a lot to do with how things turn out.

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) 1  A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-24-17

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NKJV) 11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

As members of the body of Christ, we all have different needs during different seasons of our lives. Sometimes we feel like we can fly. Other times, depending on what we may be going through at that time, we might feel like we can barely walk.

But this is one of the reasons why we function as a body, so we can help and support each other when we need it.

It’s critical that we remember others and learn to reach out and help when we see a need. Sometimes a helping hand or an encouraging word can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Sometimes it can even mean the difference between hope and desperation for someone.

Helping others isn’t always easy. Nobody ever said it would be. But we need to always try to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes so we learn to recognize needs when they arise and understand the importance of being that helping hand for that person.

The biggest way to learn to help others is to remember how it feels when we are in need and someone helps us.

So, pray for each other. Comfort each other. And do whatever we can when a need arises.

It can change the life of a person in need when they see God’s light shine through us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-15

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV) 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Know that the time we spend helping others, praying for others, encouraging others, sharing God’s love with others, it is NOT in vain.

There may be days when we might feel like someone is pulling on us for whatever reason, and at the same time, we may have things of our own pressing on us; things that we need to tend to and take care of. But as we take our needs and put them aside to help someone else, that effort is not in vain.

God watches the things we do for others. He sees when we make a sacrifice and put aside our own wants and needs to help someone else.

Keep going. Keep helping. Keep loving, sharing and keep praying! You, my friend, are making a difference in this world and it is not in vain.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-25-14

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

We are not meant to be alone, and we are not meant to try to do everything by our own strength.

God created us as a body, the body of Christ, because He wants us to help each other, encourage each other, lift each other up, exhort each other, correct each other, strengthen each other and love each other.

Nowhere in God’s word does He ever tell us to try to bear life’s pressures on our own. We are to look to Him and lean on each other.

This means that we need to spend time with each other, whether just a couple of us or dozens of us at a time. We are told not to forsake the assembling together of ourselves.

Now, we know that this scripture is used frequently to encourage people to “go to church” each week. But it’s really about way more than that.

These words were written to remind us that we need each other and that it’s good for us to spend time with fellow believers in an atmosphere where we draw strength from each other.

So make sure you’re not trying to “go it alone” or push through your trials alone. Nobody can handle everything that comes their way alone. We need each other.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-26-13

(Luke 10:29 NKJV)  But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

Jesus explains the story about the Good Samaritan, and how he was moved with compassion for a man that others have just walked by and didn’t give him the time of the day. (Luke 10:33 NKJV)  “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.

The injured man that lay on the side of the road was a person in NEED. When we think of a neighbor we automatically think of someone that lives next door to us. But that’s not the case here.

The Samaritan was moved with compassion to help someone on the side of the road that he had never met before. God’s compassion that burned within him caused him to help this man and do what needed to be done.

His “neighbor” in this story was a man on the side of a road that had been beaten down, and was left half dead. (Luke 10:30 NKJV)  Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

Symbolically speaking, this is exactly what the devil loves to do to people.

We may not know anyone like this today that needs help, but God does. Ask Him to help us find our neighbor that we can help. Having God’s compassion will lead us to those that are in need.

God’s discernment will bring direction as to how to help and what to do for them. We have to have discernment in this for there are people out there that will take for granted anything and everything we will do for them.

One thing we have learned about people is that in some cases the ones that need the help the most won’t ask for anything. Their reason is that they are afraid of taking from someone else that might be in need. So, we definitely need God’s direction and discernment in helping our neighbor.

Who is our neighbor? The ONE in need!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-13

(James 5:16 NKJV)  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

We need each other. No matter how we look at it, we need each other. We were designed to need each other.

There are some of us that don’t like to bother others and we want to handle things ourselves. There are some things we can handle on our own. But, there may come a situation when it is just too much and we need to reach out to others and ask for help.

Why did God create us this way? Was it so we could take advantage of people or be relying on others all the time? No, that isn’t why. There should be no taking advantage of anyone at any time. But a healthy balance in getting help is what God intended. God tells us to confess to each other so that we can get healing.

When we are facing a hard time, or going through things, reaching out for help causes us to humble ourselves and get the prayer we need for our troubles.

When we confess to others, it also helps us to see ourselves in the state we are in, causing us to be accountable for our actions. This is all good and will help us to get through our situation, as we obey God and not try to do it all on our own, but with the help of others and God’s leading.

Let us help our brothers and sisters in need today and let us see the need in ourselves and get the help we need at times.

Healing starts when we confess.
