Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-22

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

This is a scripture that I’ve heard quoted hundreds of times over the last 30+ years. And it’s for a good reason that it is so often quoted.

It is to the point and powerful.

Almost every time I have heard this verse quoted, it has been related to the condition of a nation.

But as I was pondering on this verse over the last few days, God showed me that there is a wider scope for this. So, let me share that with you today.

What God said in the verse above is what I’d like to call, “God’s Blueprint for Restoration”, even on a personal level.

If we look closely at the action points of that verse, we can see that they give us all of the steps necessary for us to be restored into God’s presence and His “good graces”, for lack of a better phrase, when we have fallen away.

It shows us how to go from being totally separated from God by our sin, to walking in His favor again, one step at a time.

This is not just for nations. It’s for each and every believer as well.

So, if our relationship with Him is falling short, especially because of sin in our lives, here’s how we fix that.

First, we recognize that we are separated from Him. Then, we humble ourselves before Him, acknowledging our sin or our failures.

Then, we go to Him, and we pray, seeking His face (His presence), confessing our sins to Him, and asking Him to forgive us.

Last, but certainly not least, we sincerely (genuinely) repent, turning from the very sins that have separated us from Him. And we turn from those sins on a permanent basis, not just temporarily in an effort to try to win God’s approval.

If we do this, and our heart is sincere (which is the key to everything in our walk with God), He will hear us and forgive us. And He will heal our “land” (our personal walk with Him and the things in our lives that were being affected by our sins).

This is very powerful once we understand the truth and the depth of it.

Again, our heart has to be sincere. These words are not just a 4-step self-help program to make us a better person.

They are words spoken by God Himself, so we need to recognize and honor the gravity of them and what they represent.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-3-17

Psalm 23:3 (NKJV) 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

Some of us today need restoration. We need a change of heart. Our desires are all messed up, twisted and perverted.

We have been led down a path of destruction from an early age. We learned how to live a life of rebellion and lawlessness. We learned how to get away with things that we shouldn’t be doing, and It doesn’t bother us to do something wrong.

We think we are invisible; no one can see us, we will never get caught and nothing can happen to us.

We keep repeating our actions, even when we say, “this is the last time I’m going to do this”. We have come to realize that we don’t have the willpower within us to stop it. So we just give in and we give up trying.

Up to this point, it has defeated us over and over again. We know that time is running out. It has caused havoc, sadness and depression in our lives. And we feel at times that we are worthless.

God has sent His Son to restore our soul; and lead us down the right path. Our life isn’t worthless. It means a lot to the most High God. He loves us even in the state we are in right now.

Would you pray a prayer of restoration?

Dear God,

I come to You in the name of Your Precious Son, Jesus Christ, who has laid His life down for Me.

I am truly sorry for all that I have done and I want to be restored. My heart aches and I don’t know how to change things. I don’t have what it takes to fix these things and stop the pain that I feel day and night.

Would You forgive me Lord, and lead me down the path of righteousness? I ask You today with everything in me.

Restore me, Lord, and lead me down that path You have for me.

Thank you. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-9-13

(Deuteronomy 4:29 NKJV)  “But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Seek the Lord today for yourself. Find Him. Don’t give up until He touches your heart and blesses you with His Peace, His Love and His Joy.

God can handle whatever we bring to Him. He can take our problems and our troubles and make them a vapor, as we seek Him for the answers. WE don’t have all the answers in this life, but HE does.

Some of us may feel ashamed to come to Him for different reasons. Maybe we feel like we blew it; we had our chance and we didn’t take it. Maybe we feel it’s too late. Don’t let anything or any thoughts get in the way of seeking God.

God is a loving, caring, wonderful, compassionate and forgiving God! We can come to Him no matter what we have done.

Remember the story about the prodigal son? (Luke 15:21-24 NKJV)  “And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ {22} “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. {23} ‘And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; {24} ‘for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

This son messed up big time, but the key here is that he acknowledged his sin… his shortcomings, and humbled his heart and came home. He came back to his father. This is an example of what God wants us to do; repent and come home, back to Him!!

Is this you? Are you that prodigal child today? Have you done wrong and you want to make things right?

Well, open your heart to God. He is waiting for you to come home and make things right. Seek God with all your heart and He will help you through! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-27-12

(Gal 6:1 NKJV)  Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

Do we know anyone who has fallen or backslidden?

How have we handled it? Have we continued to love them and pray for them, or have we turned away from them and written them off, or snubbed them because we were disappointed with them or ashamed of them?

This is very easy to do. We all make this mistake sometimes, being too quick to judge someone who has fallen into sin. For some reason, the church today has become less compassionate than we should be.

Sin is never acceptable, but we are all guilty and none of us has “arrived”. So it’s time for us all to put love, mercy and compassion back into our daily walk! We need to love the backslider just as much as the person who has never known the forgiveness of Christ.

The church should not be full of mean-hearted people. We should love unconditionally and forgive quickly, restoring the backslidden gently and compassionately.

Love always wins.
