Proverbs 8:13 (NKJV) 13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.
To continue from yesterdays study…
Regarding walking in the fear of the Lord, let us look at how we shall conduct such a walk.
The first thing we must do is to hate evil. And we must practice doing what is right.
We must walk in moral integrity and avoid compromising ourselves with sinful behavior.
We are going to touch on just a few of these things today.
We may not even notice that we are doing many of these things. These things are often hidden on the inside.
What are some of these behaviors that try to get us?
Pride is a big one. And it will take us out if we are not careful.
Pride is something that will creep in nonchalantly. And before we know it. it’s got a grip on us.
If we notice that we have become a prideful person, we need to address it immediately. Spend time with God and repent; ask for help. He will guide us as to how to change our hearts in this area and get free from it.
We must also be aware of how we handle various situations, being careful that we are not dabbling in dishonesty, but being truthful in our actions.
This includes everything, whether it is something little or big.
We must be truthful and honest in the way we deal with them all. We can’t think that God does not notice the very small things. He will surely prompt us and convict us if we are being the least bit dishonest.
The last one we will touch on is paying attention to how we treat people.
Are we treating them fairly?
We should not lift one up because of their success, workplace promotions, or their wealth and material possessions. Whether rich or poor, we must give everyone the same love, the same treatment.
The Holy Spirit has a way of showing us if we are doing any of these things. Pay attention to that still small voice.
How do we walk in the fear of the Lord?
It does not mean to be afraid to go to Him at any given time. In the book of Hebrews it says that we may come boldly to the throne and find grace and help in times of need.
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
We walk in the fear of the Lord by rejecting evil and choosing God’s righteousness!
Praise be to Him today. Amen.
We love you all.
