2 Thessalonians 3:3 (LSB) 3 But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen and guard you from the evil one.
As I have grown older, and my walk with God has endured over the decades, there is one attribute that stands out to me above others.
His faithfulness.
This doesn’t mean that this attribute is more important than His mercy, His compassion, or His love.
But His faithfulness stands out because Pastor Ellie and I have seen it play out in our lives so many times. It has left a lasting impression on us, to say the least.
But here’s the thing about learning to trust God. It doesn’t come by walking through life with no reason to need to trust Him.
On the contrary, we learn to trust Him when life hits us so hard that it knocks us off our feet, and we don’t even know if we can stand back up again.
We often learn to trust when we have no choice but to do so.
A life free of trials and hard times does not demand that we trust God.
But when the rug gets pulled out from beneath us, we have nothing to hold onto but Him.
And as we have faced different situations throughout our lives, we have learned to trust Him in more ways than we had ever imagined.
And here is what we have learned from these difficult times; He is faithful as we obey and follow Him. He never fails.
We encourage you to trust Him with everything about your life.
There is no need to wait until a trial or difficult season comes plowing into us, knocking us off our feet.
In fact, it behooves us to learn to trust Him before those situations arise.
Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. And in that drawing near, you will find strength and hope that will carry you through whatever you may encounter in life.
