We are praying today for those who are wrestling with sinful addictions.
We are all human, and we live in a flesh and bone body. This means that even though we love God, we may still sin against Him if we don’t overcome those fleshly desires.
Why doesn’t God just remove sin from our lives when we give ourselves to Him? That would be so great, boom, delivered! Go and be perfect now.
Wouldn’t it be more noticeable to others that we are now His child, and bring glory to Him on a larger scale if we went from sinning to walking out a perfect life in Him?
God can do anything He wants to, but He chooses to give us a free will.
Free will means that we must decide, and we must make the effort. We choose how our life will be lived even after becoming His child.
Free will means that although we know what He tells us in His word, we must choose to obey.
Will we, or will we do the opposite?
You see, having a free will shows us what we are made of on the inside; it rings truth about us without words.
When we see our actions, we will see our heart. And hopefully we will want to change and overcome those things that we know go against Him.
If our heart is truly for God, our fleshly desires will begin to fall off. But it takes our will to push through when we are tempted and say “no more!” It’s our effort and our choice.
Free will shows us the truth about ourselves.
Let us get victory over those sinful addictions today by not giving into them. Resist the enemy and he will flee.
