Ephesians 4:31-32 (LSB) 31 Let all bitterness and anger and wrath and shouting and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Instead, be kind to one another, tender-hearted, graciously forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has graciously forgiven you.
In all the deep mysteries found within God’s word, there are also many bits of simplicity that we may often overlook while seeking depth.
The act of being kind is one of them.
Kindness may not seem deep. It may not seem spiritually significant at a quick glance.
But it is!
Our actions, and the way we treat others, reflects who God is.
We have chosen to become His child. And because of this, His Spirit dwells within us, leading and guiding us.
Our part of this is simple; obey His leading!
Sometimes it can be easy to miss this in the heat of a tense moment.
Anger can take over if we allow it to, and we fail to hear God’s voice telling us to let Him lead our words and our actions.
But obeying Him is what He tells us to do!
So, in all the anger and bitterness we see in the world today, let us practice kindness. Let us exercise restraint, and shine God’s light in the darkness, choosing the high road.
It’s what Jesus has told us to do.
