Mark 9:24 (LSB) 24 Immediately the boy’s father cried out and was saying, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”
Unbelief; it’s a word that we don’t often speak as a follower of Christ.
We like to think that we have it all together. You know; walking in perfect faith, never doubting God in any way, shape, or form.
Wouldn’t that be nice?
But the truth is that we all have questions or doubts that we wrestle with from time to time.
No, this doesn’t make us evil or apostate.
It makes us human.
Becoming a follower of Christ doesn’t suddenly remove our frailties. It simply means that we begin trusting God, one little step at a time, with everything about our lives.
This is a journey. It takes time. And it requires that we learn to trust God at increasing levels as we allow Him to walk us through life and the things it throws at us.
It never happens completely and suddenly. It’s like a seed that is planted and grows as it receives water and proper nutrition.
The Holy Spirit is that water. God’s word is the nutrition.
And our part is to exercise our faith; use it and walk in it so it can grow and become stronger.
It will come if we are faithful to nurture it.
And remember; even the apostles, men who walked with Jesus, had doubts that they wrestled with as they worked out their faith in Him.
Go. Trust Him. And grow that faith.
