Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-19

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

How does our heart get clean? By letting God touch those dark spots; those hard spots, those spots that need repair. Also, by letting His love grow in us.

How does that happen? By doing what His word says; do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who spitefully use us.

Matthew 5:44 (NKJV) 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you

Love will grow in our heart and bring healing to that hardness.

We don’t want to do good and pray occasionally or whenever we are in the mood.  We want to have a steadfast spirit, meaning resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.

We do this on a regular basis, no matter how we may be feeling that day. Our emotions are not going to like this when we don’t let them have a say in the matter.

Be steadfast in the cleansing of our heart and loving one another.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-6-19

1 Peter 3:11 (NKJV) 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.

When evil tries to pull on us or cause us to do something we don’t want to do, this scripture directs us to “turn away” and do good.

This is not easy, especially if we like what we are indulging in. It will take a change of heart.

Have you ever tried to change a heart? Whoa, it’s stubborn as a mule. I have never changed one on my own and probably never will. But I do know the One who can, if we are willing to let Him deal with the root of the problem.

God changes a heart! His love digs deep and touches that very spot that needs touching.

In order to turn away from these types of things completely, it has to be a deep-down, heartfelt turning. This means that we sincerely want nothing to do with it and we ask God for help. It has to be real in order to work.

We will feel at times like there is a constant battle going on inside us. This is a battle between our flesh and our spirit. This is, “I want it, but part of me knows it’s wrong and I shouldn’t”.

There is no peace in this war. Nothing but frustration, anger and confusion. Who want’s to live like that? No, we want peace.

How do we get it?

The verse says let him seek and pursue it. Go to God, confess to Him. Tell Him what is happening on the inside and let Him direct our steps. That peace comes when we listen and follow His steps.

He will be straight forward with us and not beat around the bush. But we must be serious in our seeking and pursuing.

Peace should be a walk that every believer seeks and pursues daily.

Bring us peace Lord, help us get rid of the things that cause us to war within our bodies, minds, and our hearts. Help us to choose good things. Amen.

1 Peter 2:15 (NKJV) 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-18 – The Heart

The Heart - Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus.

God is in the heart-changing business. He takes broken, uncaring hearts and changes them to warm, loving hearts that are pliable and teachable. He does this a little at a time, teaching us how to become mature in our walk with Him.

We have just published a new video on this topic. We called it “The Heart”.

Please click here to watch the video now.

God will not force us to surrender our heart to Him. Instead, He will show us a little at a time what He wants to change, and then He will wait for us to allow Him to help us change.

Please click here to watch the video now.

The important thing is that we actually do surrender to Him and let Him make the changes He wants to make.

Please take a few minutes and see what God has to say about our heart in this short video.

Be blessed in all you do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-9-18

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

The heart must remain tender for the love of God to grow in it.

The people around us all have different personality types. And doesn’t it seem like we often end up working around those that irritate us?

Many times it seems difficult to find the people that are easy for us to be around. Boy, wouldn’t things be so much nicer if we could?

But easy is not the way. It will keep us in one place, standing still. Challenge is what causes our hearts to become tender and to grow in the love of God.

The different types of personalities can be beneficial to us if we can just see things the way God does.

Working, or spending a lot of time with someone that is different than we are can teach us a lot of things. Being friends with someone that is opposite in personality type can be a very good thing.

Being married to someone that is so different can also be a wonderful thing, especially if we see the benefits in embracing such a thing.

Our journey here is not about reaching a certain point and just comfortably sitting there, surrounding ourselves only with those that are like us.

No. We need to be constantly learning, growing and embracing that which challenges us to become more than who we are.

We can choose to seek the easy way and always be around those with similar personalities to ours. But if we are always around the same, how will we ever change, grow or learn more than what we already know?

As nice as it may seem, it would get boring and dull.

God can take someone with a different way of doing things and a different personality, temperament, etc., and use it to strengthen us. He can use it to help us open up in those areas where we are so resistant toward anything different.

Imagine if Paul did not let change come to his heart. What if he stayed stiff-necked about what he was doing toward Christians, because he thought that what  he was doing was the right thing to do?

You can see how that part of his heart was closed and hard. But God taught him how to love people that weren’t like him; people that thought differently than him and did things differently. He was challenged.

Paul’s heart changed when he embraced that challenge, and love grew where there was once extreme hatred.

What part of our heart needs changing today? Let God bring in the difference that we need to soften that area in our heart.

A tender heart is beautiful. It’s a heart that God can work with.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-9-18

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

As followers of Christ, it’s critically important that we check our heart from time to time and let God show us what’s in there.

Because our heart is hidden, it’s a place where secrets can dwell very safely. While this might seem like it’s OK, since it’s hidden away, it means that we can be hiding things that are not good.

It’s important that we’re honest with ourselves and willing to admit that we have things hidden in us that we need to give God access to, so He can help us root them out and get rid of them.

There are no secrets from God. He sees everything and knows everything. So if we think we’re hiding anything from Him by keeping it undercover, we’re only kidding ourselves.

And let’s be clear about something. We don’t necessarily need to be ashamed of what we’re hiding. We all deal with something.

The shameful part is when we know that something is there and we coddle it, cater to it and feed it, like a pet. But if we go to God with it and let Him help us with it, He will help us get free from it and show us how to avoid it in the future.

So, let’s let God in. Give Him access to our most secret place and most secret thoughts. We are literally only one step away from beginning to get free of those hidden things.

And once we surrender them to Him, they can no longer control us or torment us. Be free, in the name of Jesus!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-24-18

Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

No one but God truly knows our heart. He knows it inside and out. And this verse describes the state of every man’s heart.

It doesn’t sound very pretty, does it?

Although many may like to think that this type of heart is only in those people that show themselves by doing bad and evil things, it’s not the case.

And unless we understand this and accept it, we will never get to a place where God can help us.

This is the truth about our own heart, and we need to take it in and hear it personally.

Our hearts need healing, restoration, and purifying every day.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Drawing close to God, and having a humble and repentant heart will help us take care of those things in our heart. His word will help us and He will draw near to us.

He will do a marvelous work on our hearts over time if we will let Him.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-18

Luke 23:21 (NKJV) 21 But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!”

Why? Why would people want to crucify a perfect, loving and kindhearted man, someone that they knew did wonderful and miraculous things?

Luke 7:22 (NKJV) 22 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.

These are the things Jesus was doing. These are the things that the religious leaders were threatened by, causing them to stir the people up to hate Him and want Him crucified.

Wow! How can this be? How can something so good be turned around and made to look bad?

It’s all about our hearts. Our hearts speak what is truly in us.

Matthew 15:19 (NKJV) 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

For people to want to crucify a man that was doing such marvelous things, it shows us the power of the heart and what’s in it.

While on the cross, this same Man that they crucified cried out to His Father, “forgive them, for they do not know what they do”.

Luke 23:34 (NKJV) 34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Our heart can obstruct our vision and mind, causing us to make absurd decisions and judgments at times. We need Jesus and the change He brings to our hearts! He helps us to see things clearly in this world that we live in.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-18

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

It’s very important that we learn and understand that God loves us and wants to help us. He’s not there to yell at us or hurt us. He wants to teach us, train us and bring us up to higher ground.

Once we understand this, our striving to be accepted by people will subside and eventually stop.

It’s nice to have good friends and family around us at times. It makes us feel good and feel accepted. But, there will come a time in our life, if we are serious about getting closer to God, when He will call us out for a season. He will call us away from those friends and family members, wanting us to spend less time with them and more time with Him.

During this time, we will learn many things. He will teach us to lean on Him more than on our family and friends.

We may feel alone at first, and almost feel like we are going backwards. But God knows and will help us through those lonely and discouraging moments. It’s a time of removing the things that don’t belong and enhancing those things that do. You might call it a heart-to-heart cleansing.

During this season He will teach us how to trust Him. He will teach us the importance of running to Him with everything first. He will teach us to be ourselves. And to see ourselves, even in times when it may hurt.

Change, and the cleansing of our hearts, does not come unless we see the need for it. But, the Lord is gracious and gives us the time and help to do so.

If we feel alone today, don’t be discouraged. It may be our season for us to learn more about who we are, who God wants us to become, the changes we need to make and what God wants to do with us and through us.

Embrace this time with Him, that we may move forward with a steadfast spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-17

1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV) 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

God looks at our heart. This can be a life-changing revelation for so many people.

We tend to look at ourselves and others and judge by what we see. It’s a natural thing to do, since we can’t see the heart of a person unless we spend time with them and get to know them.

God chose David to be king over His people. Why? Because He knew David’s heart was set on pleasing Him. The Word says that David was a man after God’s own heart!

He could have chosen someone greater in stature. But stature doesn’t matter to God. Stature is just a physical attribute. It doesn’t make us who we are. Our heart and what’s in it makes us who we are.

What’s in our heart? When God looks at us, what does He see?

Does He see a heart that longs after Him? Or does He see a heart that is divided in its loyalties?

Only we can determine what our heart contains. Only we can decide where our loyalties lie.

Let us determine in our hearts to seek after God with everything in us. Then we will know without a doubt what God sees when He looks at our heart.
