Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-19

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NKJV) 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

As I read and then re-read this verse, it became very clear as to the difference between godly sorrow and worldly sorrow.

Godly sorrow produces genuine remorse, leading to repentance, a change of heart and a change of behavior.

Worldly sorrow produces no repentance, and eventually leads to death.

Why?

Because godly sorrow understands and recognizes accountability to God and His standards.

Worldly sorrow has no real source of accountability, so there is no standard by which to judge our actions.

And many times, worldly sorrow isn’t pure in its motives. A person may be sorry that they got caught doing something, but not actually sorry (remorseful) for whatever it is that they did.

Remorse is the key difference between the two types of sorrow. Remorse is what causes us to regret what we’ve done, not just feel bad about getting caught. Remorse is what will cause us to change our behavior and do our very best to cease doing whatever it was that we did wrong.

Only God’s spirit can bring true remorse and repentance. Even in a person who knows little or nothing of God, our God-given conscience will go a long way toward helping us correct our errors, if we will allow it to.

In the end, it all comes down to God. He makes the difference between sorrow and genuine repentance.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-14-18

Proverbs 14:34 (NKJV) 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.

Have you ever noticed that nations who promote and practice Godly values prosper, no matter what comes against them?

And, contrarily, nations laden with sin will always be in poverty, weak and feeble.

This is a Biblical principal that God set in place thousands of years ago, at the dawn of creation here on earth.

The people of Israel are a good example of this. As we look back through God’s word, we can see the various times when Israel fell when they strayed away from God and worshiped idols and false gods.

But when they turned their hearts back to God, He would prosper them and bring protection to them.

It doesn’t matter what nation we live in, it’s important that God’s people stay humble before God and pray for the citizens and the leadership, that they honor God in everything they do.

God has promised that if we do this, He will heal our land and prosper it.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-23-18

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Prayer is powerful! Look what God promises when we take these steps.

He says, “my people”, those called by My name.

He’s talking directly to His people. Those who are saved by grace, those of us who are His children through believing and trusting in His Son, Jesus Christ.

We are His children and He is our Father. He’s talking to us.

God wants to bring healing to each one of us today in a big way. But, for Him to do this we must follow the rest of what He tells us to do in these verses.

  1. We must humble ourselves. Accept the fact that we need forgiveness and healing, and know that we can’t do this on our own. We need God’s help.
  1. We must pray and seek Him. Some may say, ” well, He already knows what I need, why doesn’t He just help me?” Because our help comes as we obey. When we follow His steps, we show Him that we are serious about receiving the answers and the help He has for us.
  1. We must repent for the way we have been doing things and then live to change and do it right.

What happens after that? He promises us that He will hear us, forgive us, and heal our land!! Amen.

Do we want healing in our land today? Consider our own lives… our personal land. Is your home in chaos and in need of great restoration?

Is your relationship with God lost?

Are we missing out on our children’s upbringing because we’re too busy working night and day to pay bills, and still never getting ahead?

Are we living as an alcoholic or drug abuser behind closed doors, but still preaching, teaching, and acting like nothing is wrong in the pulpit or among our brothers and sisters?

Are we walking around fornicating, looking at porn, committing adultery and gambling our life away, etc.?

These are some of the things we need to turn from, the sin that is destroying His people, little by little. This sin is active in people who love God and who long to walk closely with Him.

God wants to heal our land. Our nation, and our “personal land”. Let us humbly come to Him in prayer, repenting of our sins and turning from our old ways, accepting His healing for us today. God is our Healer!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-16

Luke 15:7 (NKJV) 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance

God loves when we come and repent, confessing our sins to Him.

We may struggle with going to Him, but we shouldn’t be afraid. He welcomes us with open arms. He listens to us and then He forgives us and cleanses us from unrighteousness.

We all fall short at times. Just the other day I was  constantly aggravated over things that really were out of my control. It really affected my attitude throughout most of the day. Later that night as I laid in bed, I felt terrible. I wasted a good day, feeling aggravated.

I asked God to forgive me and help me to stop trying to fix problems that are out of my control. After I unloaded and repented for my behavior and attitude, I was able to rest, knowing that God understands. As I confessed to Him, I felt light again.

The heaviness that comes with sin is draining.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Rest in knowing that God’s arms are open to us no matter what kind of day we have. He’s ready to listen, He’s ready to speak and ready to forgive.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-15

Hosea 6:1 (NKJV) 1 Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

A father or mother will discipline their child if they see them doing wrong. With love comes discipline, because we don’t want to see them get hurt.

When things aren’t going right for us at times, it’s not always the devil attacking us. Sometimes it’s God Himself dealing with us and trying to get our attention.

In this verse it shows that He, God, has torn and stricken them. God dealt with them in His own way. But, it also says that if they return to Him, repent and get back on the right track, He will HEAL!

If this is happening to you today, maybe it’s time to take a good look at the situation. Ask God what needs to be changed up.

Maybe we are living a double life, good in church and bad outside of church?

Maybe we are playing the field, so to speak. In other words, God’s not our first love. Other things come before Him and above Him. Money, sex, work or family?

God looks at the heart and He will surely get our attention. It’s up to us to take the time to put two and two together and make the changes so that we can be healed and move forward in our relationship with Him, and in everything else He has for us.

Love in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-9-13

(Deuteronomy 4:29 NKJV)  “But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Seek the Lord today for yourself. Find Him. Don’t give up until He touches your heart and blesses you with His Peace, His Love and His Joy.

God can handle whatever we bring to Him. He can take our problems and our troubles and make them a vapor, as we seek Him for the answers. WE don’t have all the answers in this life, but HE does.

Some of us may feel ashamed to come to Him for different reasons. Maybe we feel like we blew it; we had our chance and we didn’t take it. Maybe we feel it’s too late. Don’t let anything or any thoughts get in the way of seeking God.

God is a loving, caring, wonderful, compassionate and forgiving God! We can come to Him no matter what we have done.

Remember the story about the prodigal son? (Luke 15:21-24 NKJV)  “And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ {22} “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. {23} ‘And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; {24} ‘for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

This son messed up big time, but the key here is that he acknowledged his sin… his shortcomings, and humbled his heart and came home. He came back to his father. This is an example of what God wants us to do; repent and come home, back to Him!!

Is this you? Are you that prodigal child today? Have you done wrong and you want to make things right?

Well, open your heart to God. He is waiting for you to come home and make things right. Seek God with all your heart and He will help you through! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-13

(Psalm 51:2-3 NKJV)  Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. {3} For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.

David had a way of laying himself out before God and asking for forgiveness for the mistakes and bad choices he made.

Although I don’t wish to follow in David’s footsteps when it comes to the sins he committed, I do want to follow in his footsteps when it comes to the sincerity of his heart when he was faced with his own sin.

David made some terrible choices in his life, causing some truly devastating consequences for himself and his family. But when God brought him face to face with his sin, David was always repentant and did his best to make things right.

And for this, God called David a man after His own heart.

In my life, I have two desires. One is for God to see me as a man after His own heart. The other is for God to look at me when I stand before Him, and say “well done my good and faithful servant”.

How do you handle your sin? What are your desires?

Lay your heart out before God and let Him show you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-13

(John 8:3-4 NKJV)  Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, {4} they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.

Most of us are familiar with this story. A woman was caught in the act of adultery and she was brought before Jesus by her accusers to see how He would handle this situation.

Ultimately, Jesus shamed them all and they walked away, one by one, dropping the large stones that they had intended to kill her with. He taught them that before they could condemn anyone, they’d better make sure their own lives were free of sin.

Finally, the only ones left there were Jesus and the accused woman.

Now, most times when this story is taught, people focus on the fact that Jesus told the woman that she was forgiven. And this is very true. Jesus did tell her that she was forgiven.

But just as importantly, Jesus said something else to her that was critical. He told her to “go and sin no more“.

(John 8:11 NKJV)  … And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Repentance is a key part of forgiveness. Without it, the picture gets distorted. If we ask God to forgive us for something that we have done, we’d better be prepared to repent and turn away from those things that we’re asking to be forgiven for.

Asking for forgiveness and then going right back to that same sin isn’t true repentance.

Just as Jesus did, we urge you today to “go and sin no more”.
