Bible Verse of The Day – 6-2-20

John 15:12 (NKJV) 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Where did we ever get the idea that we can just do the things we want, when we want and how we want? That idea comes from our flesh and its desires.

As I ponder on my life and the things that have brought me hardship, I realize it was mostly when I did just that; lived by my flesh. How about you?

The way we do things should change when we become a believer. When we begin to put Christ before our own wants and needs, our motives will change. And as we continue to grow, we are more determined to do the things God wants us to do.

You say, “I don’t know what God wants for me yet. I haven’t figured it out. I’m waiting for a sign or answer of some type from Him”.

Well, today, my friend, is your day for your answer to come alive and for a seed to be planted in you.

Are you ready to know what God wants for us all? We are going to take a look at what He says in His word.

Galatians 5:13 (NKJV) 13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

What is our call? To walk in such liberty. The word liberty means to be in a state of being free; Free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views. Freedom is the power or scope to act as one pleases.

In the scriptures, God’s freedom and liberty for our lives is to owe no man anything, but to love.

Romans 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Do not be in debt to anything or anyone. Not only did Jesus set us free from our sin and give us eternal life, His salvation, but He has given us liberty here on earth to walk and to choose to serve one another. What brings such freedom? Choosing servant-hood with love.

We have been called to walk in total freedom, to never return to bondage again. Liberty in Christ is being set free from our flesh and serving Him, through following His example in demonstrating such a love for one another.

Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Stand fast and stay free, by serving God first and foremost with everything we have, and walk in the liberty of Christ, by which we have been called to love one another. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-11-19

John 13:34-35 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

This is one of the most challenging verses that will impact us throughout our entire life as a believer.

Loving someone when all is good is not a problem at all. We can all do that! But when things aren’t so good, it is impossible at times to hold back those feelings, emotions and our tongue. We can’t do this on our own.

We can’t love like this without the Holy Spirit. We need His help to help us restrain ourselves and walk in such a love as this.

Isaiah 63:11 (NKJV) 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying: “Where is He who brought them up out of the sea With the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them…

God put the Holy Spirit within Moses and his people, and they came through many obstacles victoriously! If they needed Him in the days of old, what makes us think that we don’t need Him today?

The Holy Spirit will guide us and give us the discipline we need to push down the feelings that will cause us to do more harm than good. He will give us wisdom to say the right thing at the right time. And He will give us understanding to know all that we need to know about any situation.

The thing is, if we want to truly love each other the way God loves us, we need to let Him train us through the leading of His Spirit, one situation at a time, over the course of our lives. It doesn’t just happen overnight. But over time, we build on this love.

This is our witness to all, by walking in such a love that God Himself is with us, with the hope that they too will believe in Him and receive Him as their Savior.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Ask God to fill us with His Holy Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-19

1 John 4:12 (NKJV) 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

When people hear, see and watch us, and they see that we truly care about them or others, that love that they see will break the backbone of hardness.

This “God kind of love” takes a deliberate effort to obtain. It takes us giving way to Him daily, hourly, minute by minute. It takes surrendering our heart, mind and flesh, 24/7. In other words, we are not walking by our flesh anymore, but by His Spirit.

Romans 8:9 (NKJV) 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

The question is, can we do this?

The change comes when God is alive in us. His Holy Spirit must have a place of freedom to guide, teach and demonstrate through us. Even when we don’t understand it, we must give Him the right of way and let Him do what it takes to help us get the job done.

We may say, “how do we let the Holy Spirit do whatever needs to be done in that moment?”.

We humbly let go of what we once knew and we submit by following His promptings. Trust that as we step out, He will catch us and show us where to land our feet.

May His love be perfected in you and I as we love like no other.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-19

Matthew 22:37-39 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Dear God, help us to love You in such a way, with everything in us. And once we have learned that, help us to do the next thing and love our neighbor as our self. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen

To love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and then love our neighbor as our self, can we all agree that change has to happen? His Spirit has to be alive in us. And we have to be disciplined to say no to our fleshly desires.

The flesh can be very strong-willed, even in a believer. It has its way of wanting to do what it wants.

If we are tired and unhealthy, we are not up for the battle. We will be more apt to give into it, even when we know it’s wrong.

The flesh will begin to change when we stay close to God, through prayer and reading His word. It will also help if we are well-rested and keeping ourselves physically healthy. These few things will all contribute to being alert and strong in our spirit man.

If we can be consistent in these things, it will make a huge difference in keeping our hearts close and in love with God.

When our heart changes, our mind and soul will follow suit and we will walk in this love on a regular basis.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-16-18

Ephesians 5:1-2  (NKJV) 1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Walking in love is an important part of our life as a child of God. What does it mean to walk in love?

Sometimes it means that we give up our wants for someone else’s needs.

We may find ourselves putting our self aside just to reach out and help someone else.

If you have never experienced this, it is the most wonderful feeling you can have. This feeling does not come with material possessions. It only comes through sincere love and sacrifice.

Pray that the Father will use us today in some way to love on someone. He will guide us.

Be ready to give. Sometimes it is of our time or our labor. Sometimes it is of our finances. Sometimes it may be a hug or a smile. Sometimes it is a heart to heart talk, a cooked meal or a bouquet of flowers.

Maybe it is as simple as a card, text message or phone call.

Sometimes walking in love might mean Him telling us to hold our tongue. This may be the hardest thing He asks us to do, especially if we feel what we have to say is right.

Whatever He lays on our hearts, just step out in love and give it our all. Be aware of His promptings and just follow along as He leads.

A lot of times it is not planned. It is spontaneous. It just happens, and we will find ourselves saying, “Wow, that was worth it all”, after it is all said and done.

God is a God of loving on people and He will use us if we are willing to get the job done.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-15-18

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love endures all things.

Endure: suffer (something painful or difficult) patiently. Persevere, tolerate, brave, bear, withstand, abide, persist,

Love perseveres through every circumstance, regardless of the severity of it.

Love is not short-lived. It stands strong when natural strength is all but gone.

This kind of love can’t be bought. It can’t be created by human will. It flows directly from God, to His children.

It is this kind of love that endures, hopes and believes. It is this kind of love that will cause us to set ourselves aside and stand when frail, human love collapses on the floor, weak from life’s battles.

The love that God imparts into us by His spirit will steadily transform us from frail, finicky, fickle people, who care only about ourselves, into mighty warriors of God’s kingdom who learn to lay ourselves aside and face the many things that life throws at us, refusing to be defeated.

Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this series on love, and that it will give everyone a better understanding of the power of the love that God wants to impart into us all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-14-18

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love believes all things, hopes all things

Love never loses faith even, when faith seems impossible to find.

Love holds onto hope, even when things seem hopeless.

Love will look beyond the logical and the visible and see what’s invisible and what requires faith to see it.

Love tells us to get up and keep going, even when we have fallen for what seems like the hundredth time.

Love will encourage us even when it seems like we are surrounded by darkness and despair.

Love will keep going, beckoning us to take another step forward when we feel like we can’t even move a single muscle.

Love goes beyond hoping for what can’t be seen, and it hopes, instead, for what can’t even be imagined!

Let God teach us how to have this kind of hope in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-13-18

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love bears all things.

Love will teach us how to endure whatever comes our way, without giving up. It will teach us how to stick by someone through the most difficult times and seasons.

Love will also teach us how to hold fast to God, even when the enemy is inundating us with accusations, trying everything he knows to convince us that God is a liar, in order to get us to walk away from our faith.

Love will cause us to protect those close to us, even if it means making a huge sacrifice to do it.

This kind of love goes beyond the mushy, romantic emotions fed to us by TV and movies. It is life-changing and will cause us to become someone that we never knew we could be, because God will use it to shape us and mold us, from the inside, out.

Love of this kind will not be based on something we feel from time to time. Instead, it will last a lifetime. And it will stay with us until we take our last breath.

Once we let God teach us how to love like this, we will never, ever be the same again.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-12-18

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love rejoices in the truth.

Just as love does not rejoice in iniquity, it does rejoice in the truth.

Whereas iniquity is based on lies and deceit, truth is none of those. Truth brings freedom and light into all situations.

As we embrace truth, our lives will be transformed. Embracing truth requires that lies be rejected. This alone will push darkness out of our lives to e very large degree.

Love doesn’t just like truth, but it rejoices in truth! Why is this so? Because love is rooted in God, and God is truth in its purest form.

Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life”.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

So as we walk out God’s love and allow the truth to permeate us, we make it harder and harder for lies and darkness to have any place in us.

3 John 3 (NKJV) 3 For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.

Rejoice in the truth and watch darkness flee.

Love does not rejoice in iniquity.

Iniquity: immoral or grossly unfair behavior. Wickedness, sinfulness, immorality, evil, criminality, etc.

Iniquity is far-reaching and extremely deep with its effects on our lives and the lives of those around us. More often than not, iniquity in our lives will impact the lives of our loved ones just as much as it impacts us.

Love does not rejoice in iniquity. Instead, love will seek to do what is right and what is pleasing to God. The reasons for this are many, but one of the biggest is to keep loved ones from being hurt or harmed by our behavior.

Any time we choose to do something sinful or evil, it will trickle down to those around us. Love will prevent this, saving everyone from a large amount of hurt and pain.

Love will keep us on the straight and narrow, making choices that will keep us and others from getting caught up in the web of iniquity that so often knocks on our door.

Love will help us to keep that door safely locked and secure.

Love thinks no evil.

Love doesn’t think evil thoughts. It prefers to look at the better side of people, instead of focusing on the bad.

It keeps no record of wrongs done. It chooses to forgive and move on, leaving the mistakes and bad choices of others in the past, where they belong.

Love purposely chooses to let go of the hurts that come at the hands of others, instead of clinging to them and letting them bring pain and destruction.

Love will not engage in slanderous talk about others, because love refuses to speak words with ill (evil) intent.

Most of us can use this lesson in our own lives. Remembering this can help prevent us from wasting our time gossiping, spreading rumors and other similar talk.

It can also keep us from holding grudges and being bitter toward others.

Our lives will be greatly enhanced if we all learn this one and put it into practice!
