Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-18

Ephesians 5:17-21 (NKJV) 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.

We will continue today with our breakdown of Ephesians chapter 5. We hope you are enjoying it and getting some new insights from these recent devotionals!

Therefore, do not be unwise. Don’t live thoughtlessly. Use discernment when making decisions. Consider all scenarios and possibilities, and count the cost.

Most of all, seek and carry out what God would want you to do.

Don’t drink wine (or other alcoholic beverages) excessively, to drunkenness. It will eventually destroy you and will also affect those around you negatively. Instead, be filled with the Holy spirit.

Speak words of encouragement and hope to one another. Let God’s word lift you up and bring joy to your hearts.

Sing praises to God in your hearts and be sure to always give thanks to God for all things, in the name of Jesus.

Submit to each other out of reverence for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-25-18

2 Thessalonians 3:13 (NKJV) 13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

Some days it can feel like doing good is impossible.

We have been commanded by God to do right by everyone, to do all things as unto Him, and to love everyone we encounter.

Most times this isn’t a problem. But then there are those times when it feels like doing good is a huge fight.

This might be because we have been fought so hard. It might be because the person we are trying to do right by is mean and wicked in their ways. Or it might just be that we are tired… worn out from trying.

But God has told us not to grow weary in doing good. So how do we do that? How do we continually do good without reaching a point where we simply want to throw our hands up in the air and walk away?

There’s only one way. We need to make sure we’re doing things by the Spirit of God, not by our own natural strength.

Let’s face it; Our flesh is weak. It will only take us just so far before it wants to give up and sit down.

But God’s spirit is strong and mighty. So we need to let God teach us how to live and move by His spirit, not by our flesh or our emotions.

This takes time, but it will happen if we put forth the effort and have the desire for it. We need to draw near to God, and as we do so, He will strengthen our spirit.

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-26-16

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

On our own, we are weak and feeble; Powerless.

But through Him, we are strong and mighty; Powerful!

Sometimes we don’t feel very strong or very mighty. And we definitely have many times when we don’t feel powerful.

Why? Because we get caught in the trap of the enemy and we start looking at things through our own eyes, instead of the eyes of God.

Our heads will always show us the worst of everything. Our minds will believe the lies of the enemy because we can’t make sense of something or because we can’t comprehend what God is telling us He is going to do for us.

But we don’t live by our heads, our understanding or our intellect. We live by the Spirit of God!

Romans 8:13 (NKJV) 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

If we live by our heads, we will trust only what our eyes can see. But as we learn to live by God’s spirit, we will learn a new way of trusting Him. And as we learn to trust Him in everything, we will no longer rely on our eyes or our natural understanding.

Instead, we will begin to learn to walk by faith! And as we learn to walk in faith, our spiritual eyes will be opened and we will see things in a whole new light.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Let’s not fall prey to the wiles of the enemy, which bring spiritual blindness and weakness. But, instead, put on the armor of God that we can stand in victory!

Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV) 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
