Bible Verse of The Day – 7-25-26

Genesis 4:3-5 (NKJV) 3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

For the longest time, this Cain and Abel story bothered me. I could not figure out why Cain’s gift was not accepted, but Abel’s was!

To me, they both seemed pretty good on the surface.

I was reminded about how Important it is that our faith is connected to our giving, to our prayers, and to our relationship and walk with God.

Hebrews 11:4 (NKJV) 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

It’s not so much the sacrifice that God looks at, but the faith and heart behind it.

God knew Cain’s heart.

And the fruit of his heart surely showed up, taking the life of his own brother, Abel.

Folks, we can’t fool God.

He knows what’s in there. Let Him put His finger on that old heart of ours and not get angry when He does.

We can’t harden our hearts to His correction.

Hebrews 3:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,

Amen.
