Psalm 18:1 (NLT) 1 I love you, Lord; you are my strength.
In our lives as followers of Christ, we have one goal; to love God with all our heart, all our soul, and all our strength.
Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV) 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
All other goals should take a back seat to these.
And it’s interesting that when Jesus walked the earth, He added to these, reinforcing their importance in ways that people could easily grasp.
In Matthew 22:37, He added “mind” to this command.
Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Then, in Mark 12:30, they are all tied together; heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Mark 12:30 (LSB) 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’
This makes it super easy to see and understand the great importance of loving God and putting Him first in everything about our lives.
Not second, third, or anywhere else on down the ladder.
FIRST.
Let this be our most sincere prayer and goal in all that we do; loving God first and foremost, above all else.
Amen 🙏🏻
