Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-19

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Peace: freedom from disturbance; tranquility, restfulness, lack of anxiety.

The world pursues peace. We hear about it literally every day on a global level.

Individuals pursue peace on a personal level. We all desire peace in one way or another.

And yet peace seems to elude most who seek it. Why? Because most of us look for it in the wrong places or by the wrong means.

True, lasting peace only comes from one Source; Jesus Christ.

When we commune with God, we become one with Him. His spirit gives us peace of mind. But it gives so much more.

God gives us freedom, through Christ; release from the things that try to weigh us down and keep us in bondage.

Think about it. The world has removed God from just about everything they can remove Him from. They’ve kicked Him out. And yet they still seek peace, to no avail.

Church, we have the key to peace; Jesus.

It’s up to us to share this peace with others. We do this by living it out on a daily basis, loving people, demonstrating His peace in our everyday lives, even when the world seems like it’s falling apart.

There is much to be said for being a walking, talking testimony of His love, which brings a peace that surpasses understanding!

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-19

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV) 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Be kind to one another.

Some of us have been raised by people who are mean, negative, and degrading. Some people have been deeply scarred by this. Some have gone through things that has caused them to become hard on the inside.

What can we do to fix this? How can we change the way we feel about others?

Our hearts have to be changed. They have gotten hard throughout the journey. They have to be made soft all over again.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

God will give us a new heart. He will take that abused, damaged, scarred heart and give us a healed, renewed and completely changed heart, all by us saying yes, Lord.

It doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. But our heart will begin to change and we will start to see a difference once we say yes to God.

When God changes us, we don’t want to look back, unless maybe He wants us to share our testimony to help others.

A kind heart comes when we surrender our broken heart to Him.

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-19

Nehemiah 2:12 (NKJV) 12 Then I arose in the night, I and a few men with me; I told no one what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem; nor was there any animal with me, except the one on which I rode.  

Sometimes when God tells us or shows us something, the first thing we want to do is run and tell everyone else. We get excited and can’t seem to help ourselves. 

But sometimes God wants us to hold onto what He says. And there are good reasons for that! 

The verse above doesn’t expound on exactly why Nehemiah kept his upcoming mission a secret. But it was very likely because he knew that telling others would put him and the work he was setting out to do at risk. 

God wants us all to learn this too. Sometimes He tells us something, or shows us something. He puts something in our heart to do and He wants us to hold onto it and protect it. 

You see, we have an enemy. And the enemy’s goal is to steal, kill and destroy everything that is tied to God’s kingdom. 

Learning to hold onto what God shows us will help keep it protected and hidden from prying eyes and ears. It will keep it protected from hindrances and possible destruction. It may well even protect us in some way. 

So, despite the urge to tell people about everything that God has placed in our hearts to do, we need to remember to be careful and use discernment, given to us by His Spirit, to learn when to hold and when to tell.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-19

Psalm 133:1 (NKJV) 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!

The body of Christ is like a puzzle. Every piece of that puzzle is uniquely cut. It has its place and purpose to help complete that one puzzle.

Puzzles cannot be complete if we do not fit the right individual piece into the right place, or if we lose a piece.

Just as we are all individual pieces of God’s work on this earth, there is a purpose for our unique individuality.

How will the artwork of our Father, His bride, ever come together as one if we keep saying “no” to the very person or piece that will fit into that place where it needs to be?

Each child of God is different. And in that uniqueness, God brings together a beautiful completeness in His bride as He shapes us and molds each of us into a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Let Him teach us how to let the individuality of His children come together as one. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-29-19

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

God tells us many, many times throughout His word to seek Him. He says it in many different ways; come after Him, draw near to Him, seek Him, call Him, and so on.

This makes it pretty clear that He wants us to pursue Him!

You see, many of us have it all wrong. We want God to chase us. And while His word does say that He will leave the 99 to seek out the 1 that is lost, this is different.

God wants a close relationship with us. He wants us to be so close that nothing can come between us and Him.

But here’s the catch. He leaves it up to us. He lets us make the decision whether to grow our relationship or not.

Why? Because a relationship where only one person makes an effort to grow it is not a relationship at all. It’s not even half a relationship.

God tells us to call to Him. And what will He do? He will answer! Beyond that, He also says He will show us great and mighty things which we do not know!

Let’s make an honest effort. Let’s pursue Him. And let’s do it with everything in us. The return will be more than worth the investment.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-19

Romans 7:15 (NKJV) 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.

Do we ever feel like we are not adequate to do what God wants us to do? Do we feel like we have failed Him badly, by making the wrong choice even when we knew the right thing to do?

We all struggle with this. No one is alone in it.

Trying to always do what is right is a constant, day to day battle with our flesh. And we all know that some things are much easier to do than others, especially if we are weak in certain areas.

Focusing on the things that tend to be hard for us to do is something we should be praying for. Don’t ignore them and say, “Oh, well, that’s my weakness”. Because when we do that, it shows us we have already given up on the fight.

God wants to pinpoint and help us conquer that weakness, not on our own but through His strength.

Job 4:4 (NKJV) 4 Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, and you have strengthened the feeble knees…

Do we have a hard time saying no to peer pressure? Admit it and ask God for strength in that particular area.

Do we have trouble with lust? Ask God for strength to resist it, and the wisdom to avoid coming in contact with situations that cause us to feel the way we do when we are around such things, places, people, etc.

If we are weak when it comes to eating healthy, we would rather have the sweets and yummy foods instead and we find ourselves suffering later. Ask God to take that craving for unhealthy foods away from us, bringing deliverance and a better understanding about why we need to have balance in our eating habits.

I know someone who is diabetic. They know they can’t eat certain foods. But boy, just knowing this makes them crave them even more.

It’s not easy! God gets it. That is why we need Him to strengthen us to overcome it.

There are many ways we can make wrong decisions and find ourselves stumbling as believers.

We are going to mess up from time to time, even after asking God for help with our weaknesses. But don’t get depressed and totally give up. Get back on track and start again. He knows, and He will be there for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-19

Luke 15:13 (NLT) 13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living.

For those reading this who are parents, it’s no secret that raising children is a big responsibility. God has given us our offspring to raise and nurture in His love, teaching them of Him and His ways as they grow.

It’s also no secret that sometimes our children can cause us some major grief at times. And, yes, they can even disappoint us with some of the choices they make, especially as they grow into their teen years and into adulthood.

In fact, many of us reading this probably did some of this to our parents.

Sometimes children will rebel for a very short season before realizing that they need to get back on track. Other times it can take months, or even years, before they come to their senses and fix their errors.

Whether the season is short or long, it can be very, very stressful for parents to watch and walk through. And it can be hard to know the right way to handle it. We want to help them, but we also want them to learn from their choices and mistakes. Finding a balance can be tricky.

God will lead us and show us how to handle every situation, if we let Him.

Our job is to hold onto our faith in God and let Him give us hope that our children will eventually turn their eyes to Him. And while we’re doing that, we can’t let despair overwhelm us.

We just need to trust that, at some point, they will come to themselves and do what they know is right.

Luke 15:17-18 (NKJV) 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you…

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-19

Matthew 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Hunger means to have a strong desire or to crave something.

Some people may think that signing up for every program at church is going to fill that hunger and quench that thirst. Although it is good to be involved in classes and similar things, we also need to make sure we are getting that one-on-one time with God. That includes being quiet and just listening for Him.

To get such quietness we need to lessen our load, slow down and cut off those things that are causing us to be too busy for anything else.

Hungering after God means that within our hearts we are craving and desiring more of Him. But it is hard to get that fulfillment if we are busy with everything else.

Sometimes the things we do to try to find God get us so busy that we actually lose touch with Him. We have to discern and know when to pull away and rest in His presence. He alone will satisfy our hunger.

So, remember, programs are Good. But God is the only One who will truly satisfy!

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-19

Luke 12:54-58 (NKJV) 54 Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. 55 And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. 56 Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?

Jesus very seldom scolded the crowds who came to hear Him speak. He usually reserved that for the religious leaders. He frequently called those leaders hypocrites.

But in the verse above, Jesus was addressing a crowd of people. And though there were very likely religious leaders in the crowd, Jesus didn’t single them out when He spoke the words above. He was addressing everyone!

Jesus was emphatic about everyone learning to discern the times. He wanted them to understand that everything is not necessarily what we see with our natural eyes. He wanted them to learn to see things in the spiritual realm also.

And so it is with us, His followers, over 2,000 years later. It is critical that we learn to discern the times and recognize what’s happening around us, even if it might not be obvious to everyone.

God wants each and every one of us to live our lives by His spirit, not just by what we see with our eyes. He wants us to learn to hear Him and understand what His voice is saying, even when it might not always be easy to do so.

This is why it’s important for all of us to not just be reading His word, but immersing ourselves in it!

His word is what gives us understanding about all things. That includes the things of this world and the things of spiritual substance.

So let us be sure to not just snack on His word once in a while, but let us feast on it regularly, so we will learn to live by the Spirit, seeing what natural eyes cannot see, not by the flesh, being blind to everything He is showing us.

Galatians 5:25 (NKJV) 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-24-19 – The Touch of God

Sometimes we tend to forget that God uses everyday people to accomplish His will on the earth. 

He doesn’t need superheroes or “special” people to do His work. He just needs willing vessels that He can touch with His spirit, who will obey His promptings and follow His leading. 

In today’s video, The Touch of God, we discuss this in depth and share some things that God has done over the years in our own lives, so God can speak to those who watch this and maybe show them where He is leading them in their lives.
