Bible Verse of The Day – 8-7-17

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

My birthday was coming up and Pastor Curt was planning to take me for a guided sunset boat tour on the ocean. As we checked the weather forecast earlier in the week, it was calling for clouds and rain.

I wanted so badly to be able to go and just enjoy it. So, I asked God, in spite of the forecast and what everyone kept telling me, “if He would give me a nice day”.

The day came, and as I began to wake and open my eyes, I heard those words from my husband; Happy Birthday!

I looked outside immediately, with great excitement, and it looked pleasant. I knew that God had heard my thoughts, concerns and prayers and I was ever so grateful!

I continued on with my day, just thanking God. But I kept hearing people say there was some rain coming and it was supposed to be bad! Even the tour guide kept telling us to keep an eye out because we may have to cancel.

But, no rain all day long. Just pleasant weather.

As the evening approached and we were getting into the little boats to head out for our tour, I just kept thanking God for what He gave me and I was enjoying every second of it while it lasted.

The weather that evening turned out to be beautiful! Even the guides were amazed at how calm and peaceful it was.

Right before the sun began to set, the sky began to close up, as clouds moved in. I asked my husband where the sun would be setting and he pointed to it. There were no signs of the sun at all. Just clouds.

I still hoped for a sunset. But I was OK at this point with however it turned out, because the rest of my day was so beautiful and it hadn’t rained!

As the sky began to get dark and evening was setting in, the most amazing thing happened. We could see a little bit of the sun peeking through! Then it got bigger and bigger.

And we had one of the most amazing sunsets we had ever seen!

I testify today of God’s heart for us, to do good for us. That personal touch is there. We just have to go to God, and ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

John 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-5-17

Jeremiah 17:14 (NKJV) 14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.

For those who have loss in their heart today, know that God wants to bring healing.

When we lose someone or something dear to us, it can cause us to feel like a part of us is gone. This can cause us to feel empty and longing to be filled again; to be touched one more time. We feel like we need to have something there that felt as good as it did before.

No matter how hard we try, nothing seems to fill that place.

It could be a person we’re missing. Or, for some, it could even be a position we held or a thing that we loved deeply, and it brought us such great JOY.

Whatever it is, the loss of it has left a void deep within us and we long for one last moment, one last touch. We feel incomplete and unfinished.

Today, God wants us to know that He has, within Him, a way that He can help fix this. It may not necessarily be the way we are hoping for. It may be completely different than we have ever imagined. But the Doctor is in the house. He is our great Physician; our Healer.

We may ask “how?”. But it’s different for everyone.

He knows what will help us. But if we don’t ever give it to Him, we will never know HOW.

Give that loss to Him today and let Him begin His work in us. Healing is closer than we realize.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-4-17

Exodus 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” 

Sometimes God will put something before us that He wants us to do, but we feel completely inadequate to do it. 

This was the case with Moses. God had chosen him and showed him everything that He wanted Moses to do. He even assured Him that He would give Moses the words to speak. 

But, despite all of God’s assurances, Moses asked God to find someone else for the job. 

Do we ever find ourselves in this same situation? Has God ever asked us to do something, but we adamantly insist that He find someone else for the job? 

Unfortunately, this happens more often than most of us want to admit. We pray and pray and ask God to use us. And then when He wants to, we shrink back and ask Him to find someone else. 

Moses pleaded with God, reminding God that he wasn’t good with words and that his words got tangled up when he tried to speak. 

But I like what God said to Moses! 

Exodus 4:11 (NLT) 11 Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? 

This is a good reminder for all of us that if God asks us to do something, He will also equip us for that thing He has asked us to do! 

He will never give us an assignment without equipping us. Through His word and prayer, we can learn of Him and grow close enough to Him to gain insight and understanding in His ways. In this, we will be equipped to handle those things that come our way, even when we might not think we’re prepared for them. 

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 

So, if God has placed something in front of you that He wants you to do, don’t panic. Spend time in His word daily. Learn to hear His voice. And as He calls us, so will He also equip us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-3-17

Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV) 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 

Every one of us is facing some kind of trial or hurdle that we need to overcome. 

For some of us it’s the loss of a loved one. For others, it’s a financial crisis. For some, it’s a health crisis that we’re facing. And for others, it may be any number of things that you’re facing. 

These things may seem insurmountable, impossible to overcome and bigger than anything you’ve ever had to face. 

And you’re right. They are impossible, without God’s help. 

But, with God they can be faced boldly and overcome. He gives us what we need to live victoriously. He equips us to be warriors in the spirit, standing boldly in the face of adversity and conquering those things that would try to take us out once and for all. 

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 

It won’t always be easy. In fact, it is rarely easy. But it is NOT impossible! The most important thing to remember is that when man says no, God says yes! And when we feel like we cannot stand another minute, we need to pick up our armor, draw our strength from God, and stand. 

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV) 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 

This thing we’re facing will be defeated, in the name of Jesus, if we stand in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-2-17

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

God’s timing and seasons are something that we teach about frequently.

Why? Because understanding God’s timing, and recognizing it in our lives is critical to us doing the right things at the right times.

Doing the right thing at the wrong time is equivalent to doing the wrong thing.

When that happens, it can cause us to question God and wonder why He isn’t answering our prayers or fulfilling His promises in our lives.

But, in reality, God is right on time, as He always is. It’s us that’s off. This happens more often than we know.

Sometimes we know we’re supposed to make a move, a choice or a decision that requires action on our part. So, we go ahead and do it. And then things don’t turn out the way we thought they would, or the way we wanted them to.

This is due to us only hearing part of what God has told us. Sometimes this happens because we have “selective hearing”. We hear what God tells us and key in on the part that we like!

But we can sometimes ignore the parts that we don’t like so much because they might require us to wait. Or maybe they require us to take certain steps that we either don’t like taking, or maybe don’t know how to take.

Other times it happens simply because we misunderstood God or didn’t hear Him correctly.

But don’t fret. This is all part of the learning process in our walk with God. We start out as infants, and then we grow, a little at a time. Soon we become toddlers and then we move up to elementary school.

And, if we stay diligent, and we keep learning and trusting God, we will move on through high school and graduate, with honors.

So, don’t give up. Don’t grow impatient. And don’t get discouraged if you get it wrong more than once. Keep pressing in, growing your relationship with Him. In due time, the pieces will come together and we will learn to move in His perfect timing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-17

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Salvation in Jesus Christ comes with His new Spirit and a change in our heart.

It doesn’t happen as fast as we probably would like it to, but if we stick with Him and let Him train us up, it will change over time.

Have we ever met someone who we know is sincere in what they say and do? You can tell they truly are sincere. You can almost see it in them, without them even saying a word. It is written all over them through their actions. People are like a magnet to this type of character.

That’s the character Christ wants for each one of us. He wants our actions to draw people in, and once they are curious and convinced that we are sincere, they will listen to what we say.

A sincere, kindhearted person will draw people in. It is then that we can show them the One who brought this change to our hardened heart of stone.

Be sincere in what we do and let our kindness show through our words and our actions. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-31-17

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Eight little words that can change our lives forever.

In order to do this, we have to surrender our ideas and agendas to God. With some things it will, without a doubt, be a struggle to let go. With others we will find it very easy.

It’s a sacrifice we all make willingly, giving up our plan to trust Him with His plan.

Our faith starts off the size of a mustard seed. Some people’s faith will stay that size. They are very comfortable with it being that size. Some people may lose even their mustard-seed-sized faith and walk away from God.

But, If we truly want it to grow, we must choose to take the personal steps God has for each one of us. As we do that, our faith in Him will grow. Our walk will get stronger and we will get more clarity of vision as we go. And we will begin to live a more abundant life!

The key to walking and living by faith is to take that mustard-seed-sized bit of faith that He has given to each one of us and let it work.

This means getting His direction and answers before we take our steps, not after. And then we walk it out, step by step, day by day.

As we do this, and we see Him move on our behalf, that little tiny mustard seed will begin to grow and get stronger. Before we know it, it’s no longer small as a mustard seed, but strong and mighty in Him.

Trust Him with our lives today. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-17 – Stay Out of The Middle of The Road

Have you ever tried walking down the middle of the road? It’s a very dangerous place to be.

We take walks regularly. It’s part of what we do to keep ourselves healthy. We always stay well to the side of the road, away from the traffic, where it’s safest. We know what’s coming our way at all times. 

But if we were to walk in the middle of any of the roads we walk on, we would surely be hurt (or worse) in a very short time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-17

Matthew 9:20-22 (NKJV) 20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”

Many of us know that there is something we need to do; a change we need to make.

We have been told and it has been confirmed over and over again. But we don’t do it. We freeze, afraid to move, even though God has instructed us to move.

We pray and we ask others to pray for us. We rebuke the fear, in the name of Jesus. And still, we don’t move. We hesitate. We procrastinate. We shrink back. And we cower down in fear. It’s almost like we want God to swoop down and move our feet for us.

But God doesn’t work that way. He tells us what to do. He will sometimes even show us how to do it. But if we aren’t willing to move and go after it, we will still be in the same place next week, next month or next year.

In the end, it all comes down to this: How badly do we want it? How much effort are we willing to put forth to get it?

The woman in the verses above risked everything to push through the crowd and touch the hem of the robe of Jesus.

She didn’t care what happened. She didn’t care what people thought of her. She didn’t care what people said to her or about her. She knew what she needed to do and she did it. She mustered up all of her strength and courage, and she pushed through the crowds to touch Jesus.

And the end result was the healing of a physical problem she had been battling for 12 years!

So, stand up! Push forward! Stop letting the voice of the enemy and the fear of the unknown keep you in captivity.

Press through and reach out for Him. All it takes is action on our part to set things in motion. And if we obey, we will get what God has promised us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-28-17

Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

God wants our whole heart. He desires us to walk closely with Him every minute of every day.

As human beings, we sometimes have a hard time with this. We get pulled on from so many different directions. We end up with our affections divided between so many things and our time spent scattered in many ways. Before we know it, God is only a tiny little slice of our lives.

One of the most important things we can learn as followers of Christ is that He comes first, before anyone and anything else. It’s His heart’s desire. It’s the reason He created us; to worship Him and walk close to Him.

There is a never-ending list of things we can put before God. Money, careers, family, relationships, etc., etc. It’s different for each of us.

But it doesn’t matter what it might be. If it pulls us away from God and causes our relationship with Him to falter or if it keeps us from growing closer to Him, then we need to take a serious look at it and consider making some changes.

God does not force us to love Him. It’s not in His nature to do so. He has given us the option; love Him or not. But if we do love Him, He wants us to do it of our own free will and give it 100%.

It’s amazing how our lives are transformed when we put Him first and give Him 100%. Our heart changes. Our outlook on life changes. Our attitude changes. We become more compassionate. We forgive more easily. We genuinely care about others. We put things aside that used to mean a lot to us.

And we do it all willingly. Why? Because our love for God overshadows everything else in life. And when our love for God reaches that point, there is nothing that can come between us and Him.

Nothing.
