Bible Verse of The Day – 5-30-19

Matthew 7:3 (NKJV) 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 

Why does it seem OK for us to act a certain way, but when someone else does the same thing, we don’t like it?

We make a big deal out of it. We don’t let them have any excuses for how they behaved. No, we do not overlook it or take it lightly. Instead, we hold on to it.

What are we doing when we act like this? We could have a big old plank in our eye, but we will strain to see what others need to fix in their lives.

Let’s just call it what it is today.

Matthew 7:2 (NKJV) 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

How do we stop spending so much time judging others so harshly? We start looking at ourselves.

Boy, when we start to see ourselves and how we act at times, we won’t be so quick to look down our noses at others.

When we get real and we start to watch what we say and do, or pay closer attention to our thoughts, watch out. We will find out that there are things we need to tend to immediately.

One of the biggest ways the devil gets us distracted from seeing our own faults is by putting others in front of us.

But we can beat him at his game. How? By putting God’s word into action. This verse says a lot. It may take us time to get this right, but we have to start somewhere.

Looking at ourselves is going to be war for our flesh. Flesh does not like to look at itself as ever being in the wrong. Our first battle will be with our own self. When we get past that, we will battle the enemy and his strategies or attacks.

Either battle, God will help us win as we put our foot forward and really want to learn and do what it takes to change. Amen.
