Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-20

Exodus 4:11 (NKJV) 11 So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?

As we talked about last week in one of our recent devotionals, God was explaining to Moses that He wanted him to go to Pharaoh and tell him to let the people of Israel go.

Moses was less than excited about the prospect of this. He was, as he kept explaining to God, “slow of speech” and could not talk very well (as if God didn’t already know this!).

But God replied with the words above, assuring Moses that He was well aware of who He had chosen. He had, after all, created him!

This is something that comes across as pretty comical, since many of us are guilty of the same thing. We question God’s choices or His ways of doing things, as though He might need our counsel or our help with the decisions He makes.

We need to rest assured that if, or when, God chooses someone to do something, He has specific reasons for doing so. And His reasons are never wrong. Nor are they lacking in judgment.

We may think we lack what it takes, but it’s important to understand that if we do lack, God will supply us with whatever we lack.

Sometimes it might even be because we lack that He chooses us, so we don’t get haughty, thinking that our own skills or talents were the key to our success.

Whenever I think of this, I am reminded of Job being very strongly assured of the very same thing by God Himself, as God made sure that Job remembered who He answered to!

Job 38:4 (NKJV) 4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.

It’s safe to say that if God chooses us, we’re better off not to try to argue with Him. He’s never, ever wrong.
