Bible Verse of The Day – 8-5-26

Psalm 42:5 (LSB) 5 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him, For the salvation of His presence.

Sometimes our own soul can be our worst enemy.

As humans, it can be easy for us to feel pity for ourselves when we face difficulties.

We mourn for ourselves and long for someone to show us pity, that we might feel justified in our own self-pity indulgence.

But just as we lull ourselves into ever-deeper sadness, we must also be the one to shake ourselves out of that state, and pick ourselves up by the bootstraps, so to speak, get ourselves moving away from the darkness that is trying to overtake us, and toward God’s solace and saving grace.

Though it may be satisfying at times to pity ourselves, it does nothing to help us. And there is, in fact, no good in it.

Our hope and security come from God alone. It is Him alone who can lift us out of the darkness and soothe us when we are down.

And it is Him alone who can fix our brokenness in times of terrible sorrow or despair.

Let Him lift our countenance and break the hold of despair as only He can do. 🙏🏻
