Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-19

Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV) 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

Have we been through somethings that has made us hurt and angry?

One recent weekend I set off for the beach. It was going to be a hot, sunny and perfect beach day.

I left early, to beat the crowd. On my way there I hit traffic everywhere. Never did I see it as busy as it was this day. I kept telling myself I will get there and I will have a spot even if I have to sit in the water!

Normally I would just say forget it, and go another day. However, I could not turn back. Something in me was determined to get to the beach.

I knew I would eventually get there and enjoy the smell of the ocean salt and the feel of the sand between my toes, and it would be worth it all.

It is probably the one thing Pastor Curt and I don’t enjoy together. He says, “go and have fun!!”.

I finally made it there, and as I sat in my chair I sighed with relief.

Within a short time, I heard a woman speaking to me from behind. We got to talking, and she asked me to pull up my chair. She too was alone.

We began to share things about ourselves and I heard God ask me to ask her something. So I did. And as she explained to me about a particular situation, the tears came down her face. I was in awe at what God was doing. He was touching her heart right in front of me.

We spent hours talking and swimming like we had known each other forever. We shared our stories and we got to know each other. It was simply beautiful.

After hearing what this person had gone through, the thing I noticed was that there was not a stitch of anger or bitterness in her. She was strong, kindhearted and happy.

This showed me that we are the ones who choose how we react to the things that life throws at us, because this woman had every right to be one of those angry, hard, bitter people. But she was the opposite. It spoke volumes to me for the person she chose to be.

It was eventually time for me to leave and she walked with me as we made our way to our cars.

On our way I heard God say, “You need to pray with her”. So, I waited till we got closer to the vehicle and I said to her, “you shared quite a few things with me today. Would you mind if we prayed before I leave?” She got excited and said, “would you please?”.

So, right there in the parking lot, by her vehicle, God began moving through prayer. His presence was there, and when we were finished, God had touched her heart so deeply, that once again tears of joy flowed down her cheeks.

He was her friend through me that day. He knew what she needed and He provided it. I told her I may never see her again here at this beach, but today was divine and I will treasure it.

We hugged, told each other we love each other and said goodbye.

There is no room for anger and no room for bitterness, no matter what we have been through in this life.

God is there. He will bring healing whatever way He sees fit.

He will bring to us what we need to get past it, even if it’s a friend for a day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-18

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

I was having a conversation recently with a young lady. We got on the subject of God. She said to me, “I get mad at God at times”. I said, “oh, really?”.

She said, “yes.” So I asked her, “what do you get mad about?”. She replied, “because He takes my family and friends.”

I looked at her and I said, “oh, God took your family and friends?”. She said, “yes! And I get mad at Him for it.”

I said, “the truth of the matter is, it is the devil that comes to steal, kill and destroy. But, God is our Healer, Restorer, Comforter, Father of peace, love and joy and so much more.”

She said, “can the devil come and take a loving, kind, sweet caring angel of a mother?” I said, “yes, he can and he will work hard to do so. That is his purpose and goal here on this earth. To bring destruction!”.

She wept as if she had never heard such a thing. All these years, she was blaming the wrong One.

I believe a lot people are angry with God because of their lost loved ones. It wasn’t just her. Many suffer from pain, sorrow, unforgiveness, bitterness and anger.

Some are so depressed they don’t even want to live anymore. All because they have their finger pointed at the wrong one. That is exactly what the devil wants, for us to be angry with God.

Why?

Because God is our Healer. Our broken hearts will be healed if we go to Him and ask Him for it. But, because we are angry, we won’t go. And we won’t get healed, comforted or restored.

We walk around feeling hurt and hopeless because of our lost ones. Our broken hearts have stopped beating.

God wants you to know today that He did not take away your loved one. And He will help you if you come to Him, through His Son, and receive healing today.

May your heart beat again, in the name of Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-29-16

Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV) 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

Everyone reading this has been hurt by someone at some point. For some of you it may have been very recently.

Everyone reading this has been used or abused by someone. Maybe it was in your distant past or maybe it was yesterday. It might have even been today.

And this is something that most of us deal with or have dealt with on one level or another. None of us are unique in this aspect.

The question that you and I have to answer is this: What will you do with it?

We have two options. We can hold on to it. We can be angry. We can become bitter and miserable.

Or we can forgive them, trust God to work it out and move on with our lives.

Bitterness is like an infection. It starts out small, with a seemingly small effect on us. And then it can spread, poisoning our entire being and killing us from the inside, out. It’s silent and it’s deadly.

But it can be treated! How? By letting God show us how to let go of those things that we were hurt by and give them to Him. And then trusting and obeying Him and doing what He tells us to do, even if we might not like it.

Rooting out bitterness can take time, especially if it’s been there for a long time. But the length of time it takes for it to be removed is really up to us and how willing we are to let go of it.

No, it’s not always easy, but God gives us everything we need to make it as easy as it can be.
