Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-22

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) 1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

As believers in Christ, it’s important that we remember this in the midst of discussions, including some that may be heavy or intense.

We must be able to change our tone and hold our emotions together at a moment’s notice.

Is it easy? NOPE, not on our own. But, with the Holy Spirit, He will help us stay calm and hold our fleshly desires under control.

We can still be firm, even in our soft answers. It will make a difference. But if we are harsh or angry, and we say things that are not helpful, it can very well stir the pot.

We don’t want to be harsh when expressing ourselves; we want to be productive.

We want to be heard. And if that is the case, we must take these words to heart literally. Soft answers work!

We have to be able to stuff the emotions down sometimes. That is all part of maturing as a believer. Matured enough to say no to the emotions and yes to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

Words will make a difference when used correctly, with the right tone. They will bring much healing, understanding and forward motion.

Soft turns away wrath. Harsh stirs the pot.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-15-17

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) 1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Has anyone ever said or done something to you that just sets you off, and makes you want to lash out at them, tell them what you think and put them in their place?

It’s safe to say that every one of us has been in this kind of situation. And sometimes it makes us feel like blurting out whatever pops into our minds.

Unfortunately, many of us do just that. We lash out with a stinging blast of fiery words. We give it to them good. And then we feel better, right?

Not so much, no. Most times, these verbal lashings will only result in more backlash from the other person. And, in the long run, they usually do more harm than good. And, even worse, we usually feel terrible after doing this.

So, what do we do? How do we handle situations like these?

Believe it or not, soft words, spoken with God’s grace and compassion will almost always be the better option. Soft words are far less apt to stir the pot more. Even better, soft words are more likely to help put out the fire and bring calm to a situation that had become volatile.

Many times, the things that we want to say may have some truth in them. We may see a situation and understand exactly what’s happening. But speaking it bluntly and addressing it head on might not be the way God would want us to handle it at that particular moment in time.

Whereas, speaking words of truth, tempered by the Holy Spirit, can bring a whole new dimension to the situation. Doing this can bring peace in the midst of a storm, so to speak.

This isn’t the case 100% of the time. But, more often than not, speaking with a firm but loving voice will disarm a person who is wound up tight and ready to lash out verbally, or possibly even physically.

Listen for God’s discernment and His leading before speaking our words. Let Him teach us to think before we speak, and to speak with love, even when we’d like to do otherwise.

And watch how God takes tense situations and makes something good out of them.
