Bible Verse of The Day – 11-1-17

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Our lives tell a story. Each hour, day, week, month and year are the words, sentences, paragraphs and chapters.

Those pages are filled with everything we do, both the good and the bad.

Most of us tend to look only at the bad, whether in our own lives or in the lives of others. For some reason, we just tend to focus on the bad more than anything else. And this can really cause us to have a negative outlook on things.

In our own lives, it can cause us to think that maybe, just maybe, we have done things that God can’t forgive. We look back on our lives, and the choices we’ve made, and we think there is no possible way that we can overcome those things and have favor with God.

But let me tell you something today. God’s grace is sufficient.

We look at our life through human eyes. And we see pages filled with sin, bad choices and rebellion. But God’s grace changes that.

Through God’s grace, those pages are full of spaces where there was once sin. But now those spaces are pure white. His grace does that for us.

The key here is a repentant heart. When we mess up, we just need to go to Him, sincerely repent and ask Him to forgive our shortcomings. And He does.

We hear that word, repent, a lot. But what does it mean?

Repent: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life.

Notices that it says “turn from sin”. It doesn’t just say “be sorry for sin”. Nope! It says that we turn from it and we amend our life. We change it up.

God’s grace makes this all possible. Because without His grace, repentance would be useless.

So, remember this; when we see pages full of darkness, sin and ugly stuff, God’s grace comes along like a big eraser and turns that blackness into light.

Repent. Amend our lives. And let God’s grace re-write our story.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-17

Romans 5:20 (NKJV) 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more…

We have all sinned. We have all done things we’re not proud of.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

Some of us may wrestle with guilt because of something we’ve done. Maybe it’s something in our distant past. Maybe it’s something we did just yesterday. Maybe even today.

It doesn’t really matter when it happened. And, to be honest, it doesn’t even matter what it was that happened. We want to remind you of one thing.

Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.

Have you failed in your marriage? Have you lost your temper and said something you wish you could take back? Have you stolen or lied? Have you judged someone or lusted after someone? Maybe you’ve done more than one of these!

But, you know what? God’s grace is sufficient to handle all of these and more.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Does He like it when we sin? Of course not. Sin separates us from Him.

But by His grace, we are made whole again. All we need to do is repent and ask for His forgiveness. It’s that simple.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

And then we ask Him to give us strength to avoid that sin. And we move forward!

So if guilt has you looking down or beating yourself up, stop. Give it to God and move on.

And remember that each morning is a new day with the opportunity to make it better than yesterday.

BIble Verse of The Day – 12-27-16

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

God’s grace is sufficient.

It doesn’t matter what we’re facing; the loss of a loved one, a financial crisis, a troubled relationship, sin in our own lives or anything else that we might come up against. His grace is sufficient.

Sufficient: enough to meet the needs of a situation

What are you dealing with today? What kind of situation are you facing that requires God’s grace in your life?

As we face those things that test us and show us our weaknesses, that is when we realize the need for God’s grace, and the fact that our weaknesses require His strength.

So don’t let your troubles wear you down or break you. They will if we let them. But it’s up to us to let God use those hard times to build us and strengthen our faith in Him.

And remember… no trial lasts forever. No season lasts a lifetime. Dark times come, but they also go. So hold fast to your faith and lean on Him. Joy is coming!

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-16

Romans 5:15 (NKJV) 15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.

We have all made mistakes. Probably more than we care to admit.

Some of those mistakes had far-reaching consequences. We might even still be dealing with the aftermath of some of those mistakes today. Sometimes this can last for months, or maybe even years.

And those mistakes can sometimes keep us in guilt, shame or regret for a very long time. But only if we hold onto them and allow them to hold onto us.

In life there is no rewind. We can’t go back and erase a single bad choice or mistake. But we can let God show us how to take care of the guilt, shame and regret and move on with our lives.

You see, God’s grace is available to us, to allow us to wipe our slate clean and move forward. His grace is free. We can’t buy it and we can’t earn it. That’s what makes it so incredibly awesome.

His grace, if we choose to accept it, leaves us blameless, spotless and 100% clean in His eyes. We just have to make the choice to accept His grace, leave our sins, our bad choices, our mistakes, our shame, our guilt and our regrets at His feet and move forward, with His grace and mercy leading us.

It may not always be easy to do, but He will guide us and help us through it if we will let Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-13-16

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

His grace is sufficient. There is nothing that His grace can’t handle.

It doesn’t matter if our sins are “little” or “big”, His grace is sufficient.

It’s important for us to know that having something that we struggle with isn’t enough to push God away or cause Him to turn away from us. It’s because of our struggles that we need Him. If we were perfect, we’d have no need for His grace and mercy.

Matthew 9:12 (NKJV) 12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

And there is no “issue” that we can bring before Him that He can’t handle. His grace is sufficient.

The key to all of this is one word; struggle. For if we’re struggling, it means that we’re trying to do right. We’re trying to obey, but we struggle with getting it right. Underneath the struggle, though, is a sincere effort. A genuine desire to put that sin behind us and move beyond it.

So if you’re trying, don’t give up. Keep seeking God and making an effort to get it right. If we keep trying, sooner or later we will get it.

And in the meantime, God’s grace is sufficient.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-15

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

As a child of God, we have some pretty special privileges.

We have been told that we can come boldly to the throne of grace when we are in need.

So what does this really mean, anyway?

We have heard this taught from so many different angles that the simplicity of this verse has almost been obstructed from view, making it difficult to discern the true meaning of it.

But here it is, without all of the fluff that we so often hear these days.

God has granted us the privilege, because we are His children, to approach His throne boldly, when we are being tempted and when we are feeling weak.

We don’t need to fear coming to Him. We can come boldly, without fear of reprisal or admonishment when we have made a mistake, or even several mistakes.

God’s grace is abundant and sufficient. It is not lacking and we don’t need to earn it or buy it. It is given freely to those who ask.

Please don’t let some crazy teachings of today water this down or twist what it really means. This doesn’t give us license to go before God and demand things of Him. It doesn’t give us the right to turn God into a divine ATM or magic genie who will give us our every wish, or cater to our every whim.

It is about His grace and mercy and how it applies to our lives. Nothing more and nothing less.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”…

So when we are in need of His grace and His mercy, let’s approach His throne boldly, not shrinking back, but seeking His strength and His forgiveness.

It is there before His throne that we find exactly what we need.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-15

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

We all have our weaknesses and our frailties. None of us is without them.

Perfection escapes us and leaves us lacking in many areas. And this lack creates the need for depending on someone else to help us in those areas of weakness.

And this is where God’s grace comes in. Because we are imperfect, we make mistakes. Poor choices and bad decisions can cause us to fall into sin, needing forgiveness and mercy from God, our Maker.

And His grace is abundant! In fact, He tells us that His grace is sufficient, which means that it is more than enough.

Having weaknesses isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s how we’re made. We are human, therefore we are frail. And it’s this frailty that shows us our need for God, to strengthen us in those weak areas and give us what we need to stand strong and excel where we have previously failed.

Needing God is not something to be embarrassed about. There’s not a human being who has ever lived, or will ever live who doesn’t need Him. We just need to understand and appreciate the fact that we do need Him and then give Him the glory and thanks for being our strength where we have a weakness.

So let’s stop pretending to be so strong all the time. It’s OK to drop the facade and get real with Him. He knows our weaknesses anyway, so admitting them and asking Him for help will just make things less complicated and help us get through the trials and tough times that much more quickly.

His grace is sufficient.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-2-14

1 Timothy 1;13 (NKJV) although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

How many of us today can share with Paul, knowing that we also did some pretty bad things in the days before we knew Christ?

But that day we cried out to God for salvation, through His Son Jesus Christ, in all His grace and mercy He forgave us and worked with us on changing our hearts.

It’s a process, isn’t it? It doesn’t just happen overnight. It takes time and an effort on our part to want to do what’s right. It’s a sacrifice and can be very challenging at times.

Keep trying. Keep pushing forward. God’s grace is abundant!

1 Timothy 1:14 (NKJV)14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-14

Titus 3:4-7 (NKJV) 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

We are heirs, by His grace, according to the hope of eternal life!

We are heirs with Christ if we have put our faith in Him as our savior.

There isn’t a single thing we can do to earn this. We can’t work for it. We can’t pay for it. We can’t score points and win entry into heaven.

It is ours by His grace. Nothing more, nothing less.

So if you’re beating yourself up today, feeling like you’ve fallen short, stop right now. Stop, because we have all fallen short. Not a single one of us deserves salvation. None of us!

But God has freely given it.

We can never truly understand this, but we can accept it, embrace it and be thankful for it.

Thank you, God, for your grace that you freely give.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-1-13

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salvation is given to us as a free gift, through God’s grace.

This grace is also something that we cannot earn or work for, no matter how hard we might try.

I love the fact that God puts every, single one of us on a level playing field, by eliminating “the favor factor”. He doesn’t view what you’ve done as worse than what I’ve done or what I’ve done as worse than what you’ve done!

We are equal in God’s eyes. Period.

Some of us struggle with this, trying so hard to earn God’s grace and favor. But we need to realize that everything we need with regard to God’s grace was already paid for on the cross.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a new Christian or if you’ve been saved for most of your life, or even if you’re searching for God and don’t know anything about Him, God’s grace is freely given to each of us.

So stop struggling, trying to work hard to earn what God has already freely given. All the hard work in the world won’t get more grace for you.

Dropping our pride and kneeling at the feet of God in complete humility, repentance and reverence is what He truly wants from us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-11-13

Romans 3:10 (NKJV) As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

So often we hear this verse quoted when someone is being led to Christ. It helps them to understand that everyone sins. Nobody is exempt.

Today, let’s look at it from another point of view… as believers and followers of Christ.

If we are a follower of Christ, we have been washed by His blood. Our sins have been forgiven the second we receive Him. This is something that the human mind can’t even begin to comprehend in its fullness. It is a work of God’s spirit… not a work of flesh.

However, sometimes we need to be reminded that we are still sinners who have been washed in His blood. We are not sinless. We have not arrived!

We should not wallow in our sins or be condemned by them, but we do need to stay humble and realize that not a single one of us is perfect or sinless. Not one of us makes it through a day without sinning.

Sometimes it can be easy to forget that “we once were lost but now are found”. And it can become easy to look down our noses at someone who is still lost and trying to find their way, mumbling under our breath about their shortcomings.

1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV) But by the grace of God I am what I am…

It is the grace of God that has made us who we are in Christ. It is not our own strengths, skills, talents, intelligence or physical stature. God’s grace. Period. Pretty humbling, isn’t it?

So as we go through the day today, let’s remember where we came from and Who got us to where we are now. And then let’s thank Him for it!
