Bible Verse of The Day – 2-21-24

Acts 20:21 (NLT) 21 I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.

As Paul spoke to the Ephesian elders, he made a statement in the verse above that is one of the most concise summaries of Christianity that I have seen in the entirety of the Bible.

First, he stated that he carried one message, and that he delivered that message to both Jew and Greek (Gentile) alike. He showed no partiality.

Next, look closely at what he said, because it wraps Christianity into one neat package that is very easily understood; the necessity of repenting from sin, turning to God, and putting faith in Jesus Christ.

For all the deep, theological discussions that can be had regarding becoming a Christian, that short statement by Paul removes all the mystery very quickly.

It may not expound on the fact that the blood of Jesus was pure and holy.

It may not teach about Christ defeating death for all by rising from the dead.

And it may not address many other deeper spiritual topics.

But it suffices to bring understanding to some who may otherwise not be able to understand salvation.

So, let us, as children of God, endeavor to also keep God’s message of hope for humanity as direct and succinct as Paul did in his exhortation to the Ephesian elders, that more may come to know Him in His fulness.

Repent (turn away) from your sins. Turn to God. Put your faith and trust in Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-18

John 1:12 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…

How do we become children of God? We receive and believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, our Messiah, and our Lord!

This is the most wonderful thing we could have in this life!

When we truly open up and repent from our sins, the freedom and peace we get is phenomenal.

Our spirit unites with God, through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. And we begin to want to learn more and more about Him. As we study Him, and the way He desires for us to live, we will begin to change. Our hearts will grow soft.

When our hearts become soft and compliant enough, God will begin to use us here on earth.

Eventually, if we let God continue to shape us, we will sell ourselves out to Him.

The disciples gave up everything they knew in order to follow Jesus. That is what will take place in our hearts if we allow it to happen.

Our life as a child of God is a constant journey of learning, training and becoming all that He so desires for us to be.

He is a heart changer, and for a very good purpose!

Every one of us will change, but how much we change will depend on our willingness. We are all different and unique in many ways. Some of us move quickly and others tend to move a little more cautiously or slowly.

The important thing is that when God changes our hearts, we will be ready to move when He says to move, change when He says to change and let go when He says to let go.

There is no holding back from Him when He truly touches us and brings change to our hearts.

It is rewarding to serve as a child of God.

Mark 10:45 (NKJV) 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-5-17

John 6:29 (NKJV) 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

As I sat in the pew, listening to a Pastor explaining to me and others what God had done for us, it became very personal. Nothing could keep me in that seat, no matter how scared I was, when he called us to the front to accept Jesus as our Savior.

It was like a spring shot me up out of my seat. And it wasn’t until I was actually up front that I realized I was standing in front of a bunch of people.

Was I scared? Yes. I remember my legs shaking and I was hoping that no one else could see it. I was a child, but I had found my answer!

I believed what God was speaking to my heart that day, through that minister, and everything in me wanted to live the rest of my life with Him.

Matthew 11:29 (NKJV) 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

I took on His yoke that day. Did I do everything right from that moment on? No. Before I even left that building that day I probably did something wrong. No one will get it perfect, except for His Son, Jesus Christ.

I make my share of mistakes. But, what I did find, and what stays with me, is His rest in my soul. I know I have Someone with me, to help me through the good times and the bad times.

I learned to never give up. As long as He is with me, I keep trying, learning from all I go through. And never do I think for one moment that He will push me off because of my messes. He will stick with me, no matter what.

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Just as Christ does not forsake us, we should not forsake others.

We are all learning. And we have to understand that we need each other. We shouldn’t look down at or frown upon others if they make a mistake. Instead, we need to give them our arms, wrapped tightly around them.

If it’s good enough for God to do for us, then it’s good enough for us to do for others.
