Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-17

Exodus 33:14 (NKJV) 14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

A person that has to have control over everything will never find rest.

Someone with this mindset will think that they cannot live without knowing from one minute to the next that they have it all under control. If they could do everything in this world themselves, they would. And they would love it!

They don’t want to have to rely on anyone but themselves to get things done. And honestly, they really think they can handle it all on their own. They don’t need anyone; no help, no advice, no suggestions, because they really, truly believe they’ve got it all under control.

They don’t like when change comes. They work hard at trying to keep things going the same way all the time, correctly and smoothly, with NO disturbances or blemishes, as they might call them.

When something goes wrong, fear instantly grips them and they freeze. Their whole being goes blank and every insecure feeling hits them all at once. Once they realize they’ve lost control, having no idea how to handle this situation, they begin to lash out in anger and frustration.

They are quick to snap at others, saying things that are degrading and hurtful to anyone around them, and blaming them for everything that has happened. They have no remorse about the things they are saying. They are out of control, and can’t see that their troubles are because of the position they put themselves in, always trying to do it all on their own.

Fear is at the root of a controlling person’s problems. We are literally afraid of the unknown, that is, not knowing if we can fix a problem or not. We are afraid of what can go wrong. We try our hardest to control it to go exactly the way we think it should, even if it means we do everything ourselves, even to the point that we are run down, exhausted, and sick.

Rebuke fear today in Jesus’ Name. It’s alright if we don’t know what to do sometimes. It’s OK to have people help, even if they don’t do it the way we think it has to be done.

It’s time to let God lead. We are not in control, no matter how much we want to believe we are. In a matter of seconds everything can change for us. There is only ONE who has everything in control. Rest in Him today.

Dear God in Heaven,

Precious are You to forgive me for my sin. Today I come to You and ask for Your forgiveness for trying to have control over everything to the point where I have pushed people away, hurt people, and have said and done mean things to those that have tried to help me. Please forgive me, in Jesus’ name I ask.

I want this rest that You offer to me. I give up on trying to do everything myself and I ask that You bring in the right people around me to help. I lay down the stress that it has caused me, and I pick up the peace that comes with resting in You.

Thank you, Lord. I give You all the praise for teaching me how to live, and to live life more abundantly each day. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-17

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Sometimes when devastating things happen to us it can open the door to fear and insecurity. We have to be careful not to let this cause us to become controlling, trying to make sure everything goes the way we think it should go.

Why would someone become controlling? This might happen if a person lost something or someone dear to them, or they went through something very traumatic.

When this happens it can cause us to want to try to control all the situations in our lives so that we never have to go through or feel that kind of pain again.

There is NO security in being a controlling person. It may seem like we feel better when we seem to have everything under our control, or when we know exactly what is going on every second. But this is a false sense of security.

Nobody on earth knows what tomorrow will bring, no matter how much control we have. Our security should not come from trying to make everything go a certain way.

Maybe over the years we have learned that doing things a certain way brings us some kind of relief or peace of mind because we know what to expect. The controlling part is when we begin to force it on others.

There is no freedom in this way of living; not for us or for those around us. Especially those we love.

Controlling people cause others to do things that they don’t normally do through intimidation, manipulation or pressuring them into it. Whenever we force someone to do something our way, it is not good.

How do we stop living a controlling life?

We turn to God and ask Him for forgiveness for trying to do it all on our own. We ask Him to bring healing and deliverance to us. We need to rebuke the fear and insecurity that crept in when we were weak and in pain from whatever tragic or painful situation we went through.

Ask Him to help us to trust Him, to help us not to worry, and to set us free from being controlling, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Our prayers are with you. We are here and standing with you for complete freedom.

Know that even after we pray and we feel God’s peace, that feeling of fear, insecurity and worry may try to come again at times. Rebuke it in Jesus’ name, and remember that our trust is in Him and Him alone every day and every moment.
