Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-22

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

There is so much power in this short verse. Anyone who learns to truly understand what it means will be blown away.

Truth has power. It has the power to bring immense change to so many lives.

There is one little problem, though. So, let me explain.

The truth can set us free, just as Jesus said.

The truth is simple. Truth is a fact or set of facts. Nothing can change the truth. It is what it is.

But dealing with the truth isn’t always easy. Despite truth being simple, it can have many pieces. And that can make it complicated to handle or deal with.

Allowing God to show us how to handle the truth will bring freedom to so many lives.

This can take hard work, and may require extreme perseverance in some cases as we work through letting the truth free us from whatever situation we may be in.

Sometimes it happens quickly. Many times, it isn’t so quick. It takes longer than we’d like it to take.

But that’s OK, because God will give us the grace and the strength to see it through if we let Him.

In the end, it’s up to us whether we let the truth work in our lives or not.

We can accept the truth, and we can hit it head on, moving toward the freedom that we seek from the things that keep us bound and in chains.

Or we can ignore the truth and run from it, clinging instead to what we’re familiar with, choosing to stay in those chains simply because it seems easier.

We choose. Let’s choose truth and the freedom that comes with it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-13-21

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Truth is a funny thing.

It is very powerful, and it can change us immensely if we allow it to.

The problem with truth is that it can also hurt our feelings if we let it.

You see, truth almost always comes to us from others who speak it to us.

As ones who bear truth and speak it to others, it’s important that we do so in a way that’s led by the Spirit of God. We need to have compassion, mercy and grace as part of our delivery. We need to have the heart of God.

And we need not be afraid of saying something that may hurt someone’s feelings when we speak things that God is leading us to say.

On the flip side, if we are hearing truth, we need to be able to listen to it and not get our feelings hurt by what we hear.

Some of the things that we hear others say to us can cause us to want to bristle up and defend ourselves immediately. This isn’t usually a good thing.

We need to learn not to immediately go into defense mode. Instead, we need to go into “receiving mode”, allowing God to show us truth about ourselves, so He can use that truth to mold us and shape us into the man or woman He wants us to be.

This may seem like a minor thing to many people. But it is, in fact, a very major part of our growth as believers. Until we learn to accept Holy Spirit-led truth about ourselves, we will never grow to the full potential of who God wants us to be.

Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV) 17 As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-21-20

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

This is a very well-known quote from Jesus that is frequently used when people are discussing freedom. It is used to convey a message of hope, promising freedom from addictions, freedom from oppression, freedom from depression, etc.

And this is all true. Jesus can set us free from all of those things and so much more!

In one of our recent videos, “The Click”, we talked about this from a couple of different angles.

We talked first about getting understanding from God, and the fact that many times it’s like something “just clicks” and we begin to understand things that we previously had no understanding in.

Then we went on to discuss the importance of being willing to embrace truth if we truly want to be set free.

In fact, we cannot be set free by truth unless we are willing to embrace it. And here’s why.

Truth is truth. No matter how many different ways we try to look at it or spin it, that doesn’t stop it from being truth.

And truth is something that can be hard for many of us to face, because it forces us to look at ourselves and face who we really are. Other times it can force us to face the reality of a situation.

Sometimes that can really hurt.

Nonetheless, truth is still truth. And it’s only the embracing of that truth that will allow us to be set free from the things that bind us and hold us as slaves to them.

Are we facing truth today that we’re maybe not willing to face head-on? Are we standing face to face with ourselves or a situation, and we just want to run away and hope it doesn’t follow us?

It’s time to stop running. Time to turn and face it. Time to let truth speak to us, and then to embrace and follow that truth so we can be set free once and for all from the things that have haunted us, imprisoned us, taunted us and kept us in chains for so long.

We need to stand before God today, right now, and let Him show us the truth, and let Him set us free as we embrace that truth without fear, trusting that God will be merciful and graceful to us.

Lay it down before Him today. Amen.

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-20

Mark 2:15 (NKJV) 15 Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him.

Tax collectors and sinners were following Jesus. They liked what they heard and what they saw. What did they see and what did they hear?

Truth!

It doesn’t matter who we are. If we are searching for the truth and ready to hear it, God will bring it.

Some don’t want to hear it. They ignore it and push it away. Or they run away from it.

Jesus ate with the “sick”; the sinners and tax collectors. And He loved doing so because they welcomed Him. But the others, the scribes and pharisees, saw it and they questioned why He would do such a thing.

Mark 2:16 (NKJV) 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”

How is it?

That’s what He came for! That was His purpose. He came for those that needed help, healing and restoration. He came for us all that know we need salvation. And He loves every one of us. We all need His help. Let us not think that we are any better than anyone. We all have our “issues”.

Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

If we think we are too well for help, then we will lose out on what Jesus can do for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-21-18

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

One day I was at the hospital visiting an alcoholic patient. The nurse was speaking to the family, explaining that if he didn’t stop his drinking, his life expectancy was, at most, 5 years. He was young.

The thing that caught my attention was not the short life expectancy, but the response of the patient’s parent when they heard it.

They were actually upset with the nurse, wondering how she could say such a terrible thing about their child, even though they knew he had a “problem with it”.

I listened and watched and as I took it all in, I realized that day how we can really harm ourselves by ignoring the truth.

This young man literally drank his life away and was still wanting more, even though he was told he only had 5 years left. What is that?

It is ignoring the truth and buying the lie. Our emotions can open the door to this and cause us to ignore the truth, even though the consequences of what we’re doing may be staring us in the face. It will drive us to an early death, both naturally and spiritually.

What lie are we buying into today just because it makes us feel better about our situation?

God wants to bring healing and deliverance to us, but until we stop buying the lie and we face the truth, His hands are tied.

Lies can give us a false sense of comfort. Truth may come with some pain and it may hurt a bit at first. But in the long run it will bring healing, deliverance, and joy to us for a lifetime.

The truth will set us free if we let it.

Dear God in Heaven,

We cry out to You today for the truth in our situation. Give us eyes to see it and ears to hear it and the strength to follow it. We want to be set free from the bondage that we are in, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-17

Matthew 13:15 (NKJV) 15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

Healing comes when we allow God to open our eyes and ears to hear and see the truth. Is the truth always easy to swallow? No. Sometimes the truth can hurt when it goes down.

But once it’s in us and we let it work deep inside of us, it can bring wonderful changes if we take the steps we need to take.

What condition is our heart in today? Has it grown dull? Is it hard, cold, and angry? How about our ears? Can they still hear that still small voice of God? Or have things we’ve been through these past days, months, or years taken their toll on our walk with God?

How about our eyes? Have we stopped looking and seeking for God’s answers and completely given up all hope, maybe because we are just so tired of it all?

Let down that wall my friend, and let God open the eyes of our heart towards Him once again. He will bring true healing and understanding. Amen.
