Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-17

Colossians 3:23 (NKJV) 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men…

All of us, all around the world today, will get up and get ready to go to work. We will dress accordingly for our position. We will prepare ourselves for our job or school. For some it will mean that we will care for our home and our children.

Wherever we go or whatever we do, please let us be reminded of this verse. Let this verse speak to our heart, that we will do what we do with everything in us, that it will be pleasing to our Lord.

Forget about everything else regarding the work. For example, don’t focus on the money or the pay increase. Don’t think about whether we will have friends there, or what type of position it is.

Instead, let us put our focus on the fact that God is watching our heart and our performance.

Work hard, and with great purpose, and our reward will come.

2 Chronicles 15:7 (NKJV) 7 But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

God bless you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-16

Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV) 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

As followers of Christ, God expects us to do everything with excellence.

This doesn’t mean that we have to be perfect. It means that when we set about doing something, He wants us to do it to the very best of our ability, as though we were doing it for Him.

It can be easy to do something halfheartedly, especially if we’re doing it for someone else. Sometimes we get the attitude that “it’s good enough”. So we finish what we’re doing and then move on to something else.

But just being “good enough” isn’t what God asks of us. He wants us to do all things as if we we’re doing them for Him!

This applies to our jobs, our school work, our chores, the help that we offer to others, etc. We spend our days doing things. We work, we go to school and we help those around us who are in need.

So when we’re doing these things, we need to be diligent and mindful to give what we do 100% of our effort and attention. Not 90%. Not 75%. Not 50%. Not even 99%. We need to give it our all.

Yes, it requires more effort. And yes, it may require more time to do it right. But if God requires that we do it as unto Him, who are we to disagree?

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-14

Colossians 3:23 (NKJV) 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

I learned a lesson today.

I saw myself and I didn’t like what I saw.

I saw that I was doing something that needed to be done, but I was doing it less than as if I was doing it for Him, my God and Lord.

So many times we think of this verse and we apply it to work-related things. You know, making sure that we’re doing our jobs to the absolute best of our ability, so that we reflect God in a positive light that brings Him glory.

But today I was in the store, picking up some things that we needed. I had agreed to go along and help, even though it wasn’t what I would have preferred to be doing.

Now that may sound good, but the problem is that I ended up with an attitude.

Everywhere we went it was crazy busy. People rushing everywhere, buying last-minute stuff before Christmas.

It wasn’t the people or the busyness that got to me and caused me to become irritated. It was the thought of all of these people spending money because they felt pressured to do so, by commercialism and slick marketing by retailers.

Somehow I let this eat away at me until I became sullen and very quiet… maybe even somber. And, sadly, I let it show on my face and in my attitude.

I didn’t live up to God’s standards. I didn’t do what I was doing as though I was doing it for Him, even though it was just shopping.

Lesson learned, though, on my part. So I’m passing this along with the hopes that you can learn from my mistakes and not fall into the same trap I fell into.

Whatever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord.
