Bible Verse of The Day – 1-31-21 – The Washing

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

Have you had your feet washed recently?

No, we’re not referring to you washing them yourself while showering or bathing. We’re referring to having someone else wash them as an act of obedience and servanthood.

In our video today, “The Washing”, we teach about the spiritual symbolism in the final act of Jesus with the Disciples before He was captured and taken to be beaten and, ultimately, crucified.

There is a lot to learn from this, so we hope you’ll watch it.

Remember, it’s about much more than washing someone’s feet.

We love you all.

Sincerely,

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-16-19

John 13:14 (NKJV) 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

Jesus walked the earth as God in the flesh.

For the time that He was here, He willingly gave up His rightful place at the Father’s right hand, and became a servant. For this time, He was made a little lower than the angels.

Hebrews 2:7 (NKJV) 7 You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands.

One of the things that Jesus repeatedly taught His disciples is what it meant to serve others. He didn’t just do this by telling them about it. He did it by walking it out right in front of them.

When the time for His crucifixion was very close, Jesus spent His final hours with His disciples, breaking bread with them and giving them some final life lessons. As part of this, He shocked them by indicating that He was going to wash their feet.

They were appalled at the thought of their Master kneeling at their feet and washing them. In their minds it should have been the opposite. Peter spoke out when it was his turn and told Jesus that this wasn’t right and he wouldn’t let Him do it.

But Jesus rebuked him and told him that without allowing Him to wash his feet, Peter could have no part with Him.

John 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

At that, Peter not only allowed Him to wash his feet, but he exclaimed “also wash my hands and head!”.

Jesus didn’t do this just because He thought it would be a nice gesture on His last night with His disciples. He did it to actively demonstrate servanthood. He did it to set an example, not only for His disciples, but for each and every one of us too.

This doesn’t mean that we have to run around washing the feet of everyone we spend time with.

It does mean, however, that serving others should be pretty high on our list of priorities.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-18-18

John 13:5 (NKJV) 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

Foot washing is something that we don’t see much of or hear much about these days. It seems to have been all but forgotten. But, despite being forgotten, it’s still relevant today.

Jesus took the time to wash the feet of His disciples after eating dinner with them for the last time. He did this to demonstrate servanthood.

Having your feet washed is a very humbling experience. It’s not something that you will soon forget if someone does it for you. There’s something about having someone wash your feet that can’t even be accurately put into words.

And washing the feet of someone else will cause us to lay ourselves aside and do something kind and soothing for someone else.

Why is foot washing so uncommon today? Why is it that the vast majority of us have never experienced this?

Could it be that the body of Christ has largely lost the servant’s heart that God wants us to have? Have we become more focused on ourselves than on others?

Jesus taught clearly that even He was sent to serve, not to be served!

Mark 10:45 (NKJV) 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

It would benefit all of us to ask God to give us a servant’s heart and show us how to be humble and reach out to others, to help them and to serve them when they are in need.

Sometimes serving others helps us more than it helps them.
